Furthermore, the Knicks haven't won since 1973, and haven't been to the finals since 1999 so them winning is a far more seismic event than some random shithole team like Sacramento or Portland winning the championship.

The celebrities are required to play nice and sign autographs as a way of paying for the tickets. They've done it for years.Some famous fans like spike lee just pay for their tickets so they don't have to deal with appeasing fans, but most of them just take the free tickets and shoot the shit with the plebs after the games.It's a great marketing tactic. I'm surprised more teams don't do the same thing. The LA Raiders benefited from that sort of stuff back in the 80s. An entire generation of gang bangers and hood rats grew up raiders fans because celebrities made them cool.
