What is the point of this? Germany's players will just be looking to statpad their WC stats and it will end 18-0. This is cruel. 48 teams btw, and somehow Italy still didn't make it. That's because all the Italians and Danes are at a tropical resort, having sex with each other. Penis style.
>>
The point is free money. FIFA was so kind and considerate to give us a match where betting for Germany is a 100% certainty. Free money for everyone. Maybe this is a way to afford a ticket for the scum-sucking proletariat like you and me.

Yes, my little oaxacan chihuahua. Tyskland is etymologically related to Deutschland.

it's plain corruption.
FIFA bribe all these shitters with cash and WC places, so UEFA gets continually screwed.

Curacao are really just Dutch league journeymen. They will keep it competitive for a while. It's not like they're literally a team of banana farmers.

Nah, this isn't the Women's WC. They won't run up the score too much.

good banter

the problem with them making it in is that Concacaf let usa, canada and mexico and still didint remove a single of the qualifiers slots for their shitters. Now the next worldcup is going to have fucking 6 "hosts"

>it will end 18-0.
It won't. If Germany are leading by more than two goals advantage by the halftime break, they'll tone it down and try not to embarrass the opponent. Part of the team's mentality. That's why the 7-1 wasn't a 10-0 in 2014.
So unless you expect them to lead 14-0 after 45 minutes ...
>>
>>155187075
I'd guess they got that from the French, who had the most contact with the tribes of the Alemanni, so the French called Germany "Allemange".
"Saksa" probably also stems from the Saxons. And "Germany" from the Germani tribes.

Our language is Deutsch, which makes our country Deutschland.
That appears to also have been the biggest driver behind the Netherlands having remained their own thing: They speak Dutch, not Deutsch.
At the core is apparently that they used a different translation of the bible compared to the people in what would become Deutschland.
>>
>>155186973
Well, "we" did the same.
Take the Wales in Britain, Walloon in Belgium or Wallis in Switzerland.
Those names all indicate, that the residents of that area don't speak a Germanic language, but some unintelligible type of Romance language.

In contemporary German we call unintelligible speech "Kauderwelsch".
>>
>>155184952
It must be the country with the most diverse foreign names in the world. I swear every language names them different.

Which is odd because "Wales" literally means foreigner in Old English.

>>155189055
It's interesting and I feel it has to do with different Germanic tribes being the source of the name for the country in different languages.

Regarding the thread: Curacao isn't nearly as bad as you'd think.

I'm dipping into Presseclub every now and then, but they are completely out of their fucking minds.
There is no way to publicly disagree with them, so all that remains is anger about the complete and total retardation of the German press - or at least the part of it that gets invited to Presseclub.

yes, related to "welsch" in German. It is nowadays primarily understood to mean Romance-speaking peoples, though
Wallonia comes from that term as well
>>
>>155189974
but he did that because he wasn't getting starts, scoring whenever he could was his best chance to prove why he should keep getting playing time.
that's why if germany did play their second string against haiti, probably they will try to score as much as possible.

The 'Ale' and 'man' in ''Alemania' come from words which mean 'all' and 'men' respectively. This is because when Roman explorers first came into contact with these tribes, they couldn't tell the men apart from the women.
This remains true to this day; although, in the name of gender equality, German men have begun to share some of the blame.

Duuts/Diets was the old name and simply meant the language of the volk. Derived from Frankish Theodisk(ish). English also used to be named that but changed it to Englisk and kept Dutch reserved for the Low Countries. Nederlands originated in what's now Belgium and was spread from there, displacing Frisian for example: Frankish/Old Low Franconian, Old Netherlandic and so on. At the time of the Statenbijbel Hollandic, which is Brabantian with a Frisian substrate, ranked just above Limburgish, the lowest of the low, while Frisian and Platduits were not considered Dutch (Afrikaans is even easier to understand). The top two in prestige were from the far more prosperous and populous regions, Flemish and Brabantian. The Brabantian diphthong "uy" or "ui" turned Duuts into Duits (pronounced a bit like Deutsch). Not sure about the original meaning of Germany but contrary to niemcy it's possibly something along the lines of noisy neighbours. Thought we were the only ones to use Koeterwaals for the unintelligible speech of walloons. Walloon itself meaning foreigner or migrant.
>>
>>155190906
>when Roman explorers first came into contact with these tribes
How fucking stupid do you have to be to believe that "all" and "men" are of Roman orinin when you yourself speak a Romance language? Let me ask you: How would you say "all men" in Spanish?
Obviously, "Alemanni" is a name those tribes gave to themselves, as it is of Germanic origin. And while your etymology for "ale" is accurate, the "mann" part used to refer to human beings in general. Still does today as a secondary meaning in pretty much all derived languages.

In that case, that name would fit, because we are fucking loud.
Not quite as loud as the MENAPT-migrants we have been enjoying, but way louder than other Middle-and-Northern European countries.

>>
>>155190919
>Walloon itself meaning foreigner or migrant.
Walloons are not migrant tho and never were.
>>
>>155195624
The term comes from "walhaz", compared to modern German "welsch"
It originally described Celtic tribes, so the people west of the Germanic people. Then these became romanized, so now it is primarily understood as Romance-speaking non-Germanics and just means "foreign" in the wider sense
>>
>>155195911
I know what it means, but it doesn't mean "immigrant"
There is a dominant flemish discourse that tries to push hard the idea that walloons shouldn't exist, are interlopers, late incomers, all of which is complete bullshit but have impermeated the flemish discourse
>>
>>155195286
ACTUALLY you didn't get the argument either of us made. Congrats.
