They'd be granting citizenship to all the rising foreign talents to represent the US.

They came in second at rugby sevens back in 2018 to Fiji
They could take over soccer rugby and cricket if they wanted

>They could take over soccer rugby and cricket if they wanted
Taking over cricket is probably piss easy since it is played by a handful of underdeveloped shitholes with no sportive prowess at all ... and England and Australia, where it is apparently dying
Rugby probably also is rather easy since it also isn't played in that many countries, but they'd have to understand the meta first and not just throw NFL shit at it
Soccer/Football however is by far the most competitive sport on the planet. They would need a lot of effort to take over. Yeah, they can pull it off. But it would be very tough
Consider basketball. They are not as dominant as they should be despite being the country that cares by far the most. Yurofootball is much more challenging in this regard. If their basketball efficiency were to translate over to yurofootball, they wouldn't make it to the top

the US could be amazing but the "Americanism" gets in their own way
> no promotion / relegation in a country of over 300 million is laughable because 20 owners want to hoard it all for themselves
> not having at least 5 tiers of professional leagues is laughable
> Portugal, a country with the same population as Michigan, has 5 tiers
> relying on the old high school -> colllege -> draft -> pro system is laughable
> Euros and South Americans are pro at 15, and are starting on rosters at 17 - 18, or are loaned to lower divisions to get experience
> You need to be turbo rich, or be a footballer's son, to be able to travel to Europe in your teens to get on a team

This is a good post. Not a big sports guy, but I watch some handegg mostly to see athletic plays, but do somewhat root for particular teams.

It wouldn't change so much, Europe would lose the monopoly of "money market" where all players want to be, but ucl would still be more prestigious and in other regions the current situation wouldn't change much.

They would likely have one world cup at least but then again, they wouldn't like that, look at England, France, huge hubs on the strongest conference (uefa), with access to all the elite competitions and hundred year old clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool... Even they have 1, 2... World cups, Spain with their massive impact and dominance has only one, which they won fairly recently, do you really think that the United states of America, with their massive ego would be fine with that? If they're not winning at least 80% of the time like in basketball and baseball they don't watch it, remember formula One? They were there, they were just as average as anybody and then they quit, preferred NASCAR and Indycar instead.

Same thing with metric system, they function in a fine line between wanting to be biggest one in everything and preferring to isolate from the world then to be average.

I just saw someone be a first draft pick in the NFL just because he scored good on athletic tests. He never played football before. This would never ever happen in soccer.

I also like that soccer you can be tall, short and built differently which adds a lot of versatility and playstyles. Basketball just rewards tall people

For me the only team sport I considered as skilled as soccer is hockey. You can’t rogue that hockey is even more skilled.

>>
>>155346111
>taking over cricket is probably piss easy since it is played by a handful of underdeveloped shitholes with no sportive prowess at all
that’s not how it works at all, Brazil won 5 world championships despite being poor and almost all of their greatest players came from impoverished backgrounds, in a lot of nations sporting prowess comes from passion and the amount of kids playing on the streets because there’s nothing else really to do. I see in the future an increasing shift toward the global south as the West gets increasingly older, lazy, addicted and obese and the South, due to high birth rates and low industrialisation / tech use, has the youth , energy and passion to take the torch
>>
>>155347796
Every state should have their own league with mulitiple tiers. It's fine if college teams play with the other regular teams. Then at the end of the season USA should have their own Champions League including the top teams of all leagues.
Also, every few years should be a USA world cup where players represent the state they were born in.
>>
>>155349891

2nd gen tend to become assimilated and
pick up handegg, baseball or basketball as their sports. They might tune in to the WC every 4 year for heritage's sake but the club scene is unlikely to be popular
I see this happen IRL. Cousin's kids in the US are into basketball and handegg while their dad is a soccer fan.
Culture plays a big role in sports preference.

If you want Americans to care about soccer you need to get rid of the flopping and rolling around on the ground in agony trying to score a free kick. It just makes the game look gay.
Argue this all you want but there’s more physical contact in all 3 popular sports, football hockey and basketball and even more in baseball and you don’t see players rolling on the ground crying from contact.
In soccer as soon as their shoulders rub a player is throwing his hand in the air hoping the ref calls a foul

Basketball is just soccer with full body athleticism and the goal requires skill to hit instead of having a dedicated guy standing in it, so you actually get higher scoring generally the higher the skill level even with the defenders matching it, rather than 0-0 after five hours with forty minutes left to score before the shootout gachaing the win to whoever's goalie is more awake
The level of allowed contact is about the same

Soccer is just too yuropoor coded (read: gay and cringe). It will never take off in America outside of the small reddit soiboi pockets you see 'ultra'ing their local MLS franchise. There will never be an actual grassroots fanbase. In fact, there was a huge inorganic effort to push soccer at the expense of football over a decade ago with the CTE meme, and even that saw soccer gaining no ground and football being more popular than ever.
>>
Soccer in America is, at best, a generic day care activity that borderline alcoholic suburban moms can use to drop their rugrats off for a few hours each week while they go have affairs, drink cocktails, spend money, and LARP as sex and the city characters. It's not a real sport.
>>
>>155357177
>he thinks mastering ball control with your foot requires similar skill than with your hands

Football can be way more tactical than basketball. And the tactics can be enjoyed by something that understand a bit of Football. Not for people with low attention-span.
