Australian referee Shaun Evans has been cleared by FIFA after being accused of making a gesture associated with white supremacy, amid calls for him to be stood down from the World Cup.

During Monday's Germany v Curaçao match, Evans was filmed in the VAR hub making an upside-down 'OK' symbol with his fingers against his thigh, a gesture that has been designated a hate symbol by the New York-based Anti-Defamation League, and has been associated with far-right groups.

The gesture also features in the so-called "circle game" — a longstanding prank where someone flashes the sign below the waist, and anyone who looks at it gets punched in the shoulder.

Evans, a 38-year-old Victorian and experienced A-League Men's referee, denied any deliberate intent and said he wasn't aware of the gesture's history.

It's literally just this. Not some "white power" bullshit. Hence why his hand isn't raised.
Guy probably had some childish bet running or something. Either way, it was utterly inapropriate. And of course he did it intentionally. It's just that that intent wasn't some neonazi thing, it was him being a manchild.
>>
>>155349781
That just makes it more likely that he is a racist white supremacist
>>
wasn't it a /pol/ may-may to redefine it as "white power" which reddit fell for?
>>
i'm guessing the made up association with "white power" is some fucking bullshit zoomer invention?
>>
IT WAS A TWITCH OK
LEAVE HIM ALONE

fucking hatchet job anyway

newfriend, it was a /pol/ troll
>lol let's pretend a normal gesture is a far right symbol and watch the media report on it as if it's real
it worked

>The gesture also features in the so-called "circle game" — a longstanding prank where someone flashes the sign below the waist, and anyone who looks at it gets punched in the shoulder.
This doesn't make any sense in that context. It's more believeable that it was just an involuntary twitch or he was doing a chuddy joke

How do you know that?

How do retards still for that meme?

You’re very rude and uncouth. No wonder you’re stuck online with no friends. Silly cunt.
>>

>How do you know that?
Know what? That it was intentional? Because that's not a natural resting position for your hands, nor something you do accidently while trying to do another sign. If you twist your fingers into some gesture and hold it for a few seconds, that does happen with some intent, whatever that intent is.
>>
>pretend to be retarded
>people end up thinking that you are retard
many such cases
>>
>>155350060
the worst and most hilariously stupid part about this is instead of admitting to be a silly man child instead of the worse accusation of being a white supremacist, the dude went full on denial and said his hand was twitching
lmao, fucking idiot
>>
>>155349728
its insane that this was a 4chan prank
>>
>>155350076
probably because if he admitted that it was an intentional gesture then the media would have a field day over a ref intentionally flashing a """gesture associated with white supremacy""" regardless of the intention behind it
>>
>>155350060
How do you know he isn't racist?
>>155350118
>regardless of the intention behind it
What would be the intention of baiting others to think you are throwing a dogwhistle but it's actually a meme? What is the point in playing with that? "Haha you guys thought it was a dogwhistle but it's actually a simple gesture that people on the internet convinced others that is a dogwhistle, haha silly journalists trolled epicaly xd"
Nobody actually thinks this is just to own da libs and it is not to muddy the waters while playing with the idea. It was part of the culture war to advance an agenda

Like I said, he didn't raise the hand, held it exactly where children hold it for their stupid game.
If he wanted to make a racist gesture, he'd have tried to draw more attention to it and make it impossible to mistake for some childish joke.
Also, even if he was racist, the context and setting weren't exactly the best place to make such a statement in the first place.

This game justification really does not make any sense to make to a camera. This thing was either something random he did or a covert ok hand symbol he was throwing while smirking which can only mean the /pol/ meme, which has the intention of discrediting reports of dogwhistles and playing with the idea of white supremacy. Everyone comprehends this but some will play dumb about it

it's always handy when someone says clown world cos it means you can safely ignore anything else they have to say

Everything you do is now a problem because our society is a open air circus.

This was absolutely done on purpose. Such a gesture is NOT natural, requiring intense focus, practiced dexterity and the focused intent to form such a complex configuration. I bet there's out-of-shape anons in this very thread who can't even form that symbol even if they tried.
