Sebastién Chabal.

I've never watched rugby but I know that name and Lomu. idk if this is news to you rugby fans but I just saw this short video about his brain damage. he has NO memory of any games he played or his childhood. no memory of the birth of his daughter even.
I used to be jealous of people like this but maybe rugby is just a bad sport to make a career out of even if you have the gifts. the football prima-donnas would never.
anyway this made me kinda sad. sorry if this isn't news to you.

In rugby league we put our CTE suffering ex-players on TV as clowns and make fun of them

The ex-rugby league player is so brain damaged he bashes his wife and carers every day, often while covered in feces
>Former Newcastle Knights board member and St George second rower, is now needing one-on-one care. But sometimes even that is not enough.
>It takes two of them, Sandra and the carer, to wrestle her husband Trevor Crow into the shower, pinning his hands while she swabs him down quickly, fearful of the violent blows and abuse likely to come.
>The home where the former Newcastle Rugby League chairman, once a St George second rower, is now staying offers one-on-one care. But sometimes even that is not enough.
>Trevor is non-verbal, physically destructive, often bed-ridden, barely able to feed himself and wears an adult nappy. He is 63 years old.
>Trevor’s medical team says he is succumbing to dementia induced by the repetitive head knocks he suffered while playing the game from age five to 36.

Not a fucking chance 2026 rugby is that cte inducing when did they started to play 80s/90s? Much more conscussions and every year its less
But stop dont complain you get cte but never worked a 9 to 5 travelled the world and was top on your sport, good trade
A guy thats never gotten concussed still can get alzaimer or dementia just because when he is old

is this /our/ official response, rugbychads?
>>

you didn't watch the video. Chabal is a rugby legend and he started in 2000.
he's not old enough to have dementia he's 48. there was another english player talked about in the video who has early onset dementia at 4-fucking-3. that's the point. playing rugby professionally is basically signing up to become a potato.

Very sad I agree. He was feared when he played. One of the hardest tacklers in the game.

The risks caused by the nature of the game (and other dangerous pursuits) are worth it at a group level. Not everyone wants to be a badminton player. Also the damage taken by ex-boxers, rugby players and NFL players will hasten the solution to the diseases that are caused by these dangerous pursuits, as we study their brains and test new fixes on them.

Ok boxing and figthing is worse and still exist
Who cares about cte its a part of life, you could get some freak sickness and die tommorow
>>
>>155478827
well, his whole career revolved around crashing himself as hard as he could in the guy in front of him...

try to read about Shontayne Hape too
>>
i know it would make them less cool but they should really consider start wearing helmets.
>>
>>155480914
helmets doesn't prevent the brain from shaking inside the skull, it just prevent the bone from shattering
also, it gives the false impression of being safe so you crash even harder
>>
>>155479483
is it tho? let's think logically, people play rugby since the early 19th century, tens of thousands of players played a whole career of rugby and retired, if this was this common it would be common knowledge. it's still a sport where people tackle each other constantly so obviously the chances are increased compared to a person that doesn't play rugby but that doesn't mean that it's a given

>Trevor is non-verbal, physically destructive,
Damn no wonder CTE goes undiagnosed in rugby players
>>

Even futbol players get cte from heading the ball fuck cte
