I just completely fixed Portugal's problems. Their wingers are absolutely useless, but their fullbacks are great on the attack so just use them for width, B. Silva is a great mf and can run all day but wasted on the wing so stick him where he's best, and they need a striker to make runs in behind and drag defenders but they also need Ronaldo out there so play with two up top. A 4-4-2 diamond completely does all that.Also, I think people are underestimating the impact of Dias' absence. That Congo goal doesn't happen if he's there leading the backline.

But from what i saw, doctor congo was happy to squeeze in a very high n tight shape, because portugal had 0 penetration in behind. Nobody was making run. They were happy just passing it around, into feet. Also Ronaldo doesnt really work when the team plays so conservatively. He needs a little bit of chaos to thrive. Balls need to be pumped into the box, long shots need to be taken. That create half chances, loose balls, goalkeeper spilling etc. Ronaldo thrive in that environment.To have 75% possession n only 1 shot on target is ridiculous.
