They are too busy mass producing electronics for every major company imaginable. Yes, all your shitty ass iphones, data center hw, ai hw, etc.
And they are awful at sports in general, particularly team sports.

It's not a respectable profession to get into. Your whole life will be an uphill struggle. They get paid decently at the highest level (about a mill pa) but your status is just as a monkey to be gambled on. The sport is not in their blood.

Real answer?

Extreme lack of team coordination because of China's hypercompetitive culture in everything. Every single player is looking to heroball themselves to a hat trick, including the fucking defenders. In Chinese they call it 出人头地 syndrome.

Add to that the extremely toxic nature of management cutting talent after every single loss, and chinese netizens being complete fucking dickheads after every failure, and you have a recipe for eternal KWABing.

t. someone who follows chinese football, has lived in china, and also goes onto chinese internet from time to time

they suck at all team sports. they're only good at shit that doesn't require soul.

Hungary and Yugoslavia put together some pretty good teams while under the Iron Curtain, Italy's first WC came under Mussolini and Brazil and Argentina have long histories of political strongmen repressing free speech at various levels during certain eras.
Real's first era of domination came under Franco (Actually an Atleti fan)
China's problem is it's a giant country, the population is spread out and it's not that popular a sport.

Confucianism no LOL, Communism yes (but only in theory).

Confucianist ideals actually breeds this sort of hypercompetitiveness, because Confucianism is the ultimate meritocratic system. The smartest (or best) get rewarded with the spoils, while the stupidest and the worst get rightfully shit on. So people get very competitive under such a system. It's literally how Confucianist races (like Chinese/Koreans etc) become strivers in Western society, and why Koreans, who are the best practitioners of Confucianism, have the worst education system in the world when it comes to stressloading students (with all the cram school nonsense).

Communism by right should have denigrated all of this, but nobody in China takes Communist ideals seriously anymore post-Deng reforms. In fact Marxist theory has practically become just another subject for you to study and be better than your peers at, ironically reinforcing Confucian meritocracy.

Ultimately such a system will breed extreme overachievers in endeavours that only concern individual prowess. Like >>155537177 said, China is extremely good at individual (and duo) sports as a result of this. But in team sports with more than 5 people? Severely lacking because there's zero cohesion/chemistry when everyone is trying to outdo each other rather than win together.

If they make an effort for it, they can be what >we are. It's the same concept.
>Big country with a few heavily populated regions and no real history.
>One meme retirement league that is moderately popular with a few people
>A small but devoted fanbase of fans of foreign leagues
The problem is they have to grow the sports popularity as something more than a trendy athleisure shirt and something to bet on at 2 in the morning.

Why don't they try to become
>the best at goalkeeping
>the best at stopping star strikers and playmakers
>the best at passing the ball
>the best at running really fast and winning contested balls
>the best at taking corners
etc.?
wouldn't that kind of hyperspecialization work?
I get it that they wouldn't be able to play Spainball and tiki taka but that's not even the meta anymore. And if duos are allowed then that's enough, really

China doesn't allow dual-nationalities. This means they can't just poach players from European academies (like most of Africa), unless those players decide to give up their birth passport and only hold a Chinese passport. The Chinese passport is not as powerful when it comes to free travel compared to the likes of Japan or South Korea. So even if China somehow produced a great player domestically, European clubs would not be interested in signing them and developing them further because it would be a hassle for them to move between countries for matches. So basically China are forced to build an entire team using just players that are born and trained in their own country, and the football infrastructure is miles behind other countries. They do well in other Olympic sports because the competition is less intense so throwing money at the problem is an effective solution, but football is just too competitive for them to keep up.
>>
>>155537787
Trump just exposed how weak the team is with his attack minded tactics. But least it wasn't that tiki taki bullshit.

Their national team was in Asia's top 3 around 2000s. One of their club won Asian champions league twice in the 2010s but that club got dissolved due to massive debt 10 years later.
It seemed like they were on the right track for a while but then fell apart. That could have been prevented and they can get better again.

>>155537887
Because everyone wants to be Messi/Ronnaldo instead of van Dijk or Saliba. Theres just more prestige in striking than anything else. And in China, its prestige or FACE that matters most. Every football talent worth his salt in that country wants all the glory. Goalkeeping in China is its own can of worms though, and I don't feel like getting into that right now honestly.

But yeah, China just doesn't have the environment to breed a WC team. Not without major institutional reforms to the country's very own cultural mindset itself (and also reforms for all the other corruption/overtly-bureaucratic nonsense).

It's just too fucking toxic. Many promising talents just have to make one mistake and they either get extremely demotivated and give up because every dickbag with a phone out of a country of 1.4B will start shitting on him, or he gets axed entirely. Just a crappy system all around, which is sad because there's quite a few players in there that's pretty fucking world class imho.

Also this is another factor >>155537895 lol. They can't just do the olde euro trick of importing the best ngubus to make up for any native talent shortage.

They've famously recently changed their rules specifically for "notable people in their fields" essentially opening themselves up to purging Chinese kids from foreign academies
How do you not remember Eileen Gu and everything surrounding her competing in Snowboarding for China the last 2 olympics despite being from California.
>>
>>155538186
We were like that for a while, everyone wanted to play striker, but it started changing some 15 years ago or so and now we have a fairly solid midfield and defense. I think it's just a perspective, no? you change how a position is perceived culturally and then they'll want to play it. If you make a defender be the gritty, tough, physical chad instead of the guy who can't strike then suddenly it's not so unappealing anymore.
If they realize that midfielders are smarter, cooler, more technical, then suddenly they're not the guys in charge of feeding goals to the strikers, but the guys controlling and setting the rules of engagement of the whole game.
But the nationality stuff does seem pretty bad

They're only good at meme sports like in the Olympics. Reality is that Chinese children spend most of their time studying so organized sports aren't really a thing unless you are scouted very young like Yao Ming. Compare that to Japan and Korea where sports clubs are part of their education system.

It's not all about money/funding or genetic superiority (although it contributes alot) but they are missing the grit and hunger for team-based games because they are individualistic. My country loves basketball and we are atleast able to compete in FIBA despite being manlets and being 100x poorer than China because literally every street here has a make-shift basketball court.

Iran is a very counterattacking side, remind me of Milan in the 90s. Strong defence, organised, no nonsense. Capello would be proud. It's not like the absolute shanty town of Iraq. Trump thought he could get the treble, that's probably out of the window now, unless somehow there's a replay. All he's got is the Venezuela win. Not much to brag about, they clearly threw that match. Venezuela team must have bet on themselves to lose. But we know you're not going to reach the final against China now. Probably a good thing as there would be big trouble.
>>

Do you think playing at Real Madrid or Juve is just a doss?
>>
>>155539124
We relied on Refball in Venezuela, that Red Card on Maduro's Challenge was barely a foul.
In Iran we basically played the attack and had no real striker. Your typical 70% possession lose 1-0 war.
Like that final against Vietnam all over again.

The owners of the team are what really matter here, and because they are jewish supremacists, you're stuck failing to prevent Iran from blocking the strait of Hormuz. Try chucking a few rocks in the general direction of central Asia if you want to change this, or try convincing your boomer parents to not vote for the zionist candidate.
