This announcer is really committed to pronouncing "Kimmich" correctly, huh?
>>
>>155554017
i promise you he is not
he is probably saying Cum-michkhhhh

Foreigners generally can not do the german ch
>>
>>155554495
She is doing it and it's distracting because it's a sound we don't have in English. Imagine if in a German broadcast they used the American R for one player's name
>>
American broadcast always does it with Spanish names.
It's fucking unbearable.
>>
>>155555415
lol, better than bongs making zero effort and just saying the names all wrong

"martin-ez"
>>
>>155555415
You should hear Hispanics with American accents say their names.
>>
>>155554495
It's just a j sound, "kimmij" that's all
>>
>>155555573
No, lol
>>
>>155555527
Zero effort is better. Randomly switching accents to say a single word is cringe as fuck. No foreigner will ever say Palhinha or Vitinha or João correctly, just throw the towel before attempting

There’s no θ involved irl

Even if you can pronounce the names perfectly because you’re bilingual, switching accents will always be cringe (unless this is a comedy skit)

What's it like IRL?
>>
>>155554663
Martin Tyler said he deliberately pronounces names wrong so as to not be distracting when it sounds too foreign
>>
why are people offended by proper pronounciation lol
>>
>>155561719
It's performative. It sounds like she just learned how to say the German "ch" yesterday and she wants to show off how worldly she is.
>>
>>155554663
>Imagine if in a German broadcast they used the American R for one player's name
But that's what they do?
Like, we have a guy called "Brown" on our team and they use the English pronunciation for his name.
>>
>>155554663
That's literally what they're doing with our US-Muttoid called "Brown".
>>
>>155561866
Cringe
They should just say it like Braun
>>
>>155562255
That isn't his name though.
>>155561719
Because they're incapable of doing the same.
>>
>>155562224
Well tbf there is a difference in that English is the dominant lingual franca of the world
>>
>>155562255
But he's not called Braun he's called Brown and has a US-Background.
>>
>>155562306
Honestly isn't is the closest you would get to the American pronunciation of Brown with German phonemes?
>>
>>155562343
Okay and? Tons of Americans have German surnames, we don't pronounce them like you would in Germany
>>
>>155554017
This nigga is actualy 5 ft tall or something ? looks really short in the field
>>
>>155562313
I agree - English is factually the lingua franca. How does it relate to the correct pronunciation of names tho?
>>
>>155557315
You might trick people who haven't been there, but that's where it ends. All of those bullet points are utterly meaningless considering how completely empty and soulless the people are. now post the 99% of the country filled with commieblocks
>>
>>155562453

>Luxembourg
You're baiting

Just say it like that, simple as
>>
>>155562404
And you want me to go out and execute your people in the streets because they can't speak and pronounce German surnames? I don't get your point. None of them is being paid to provide high quality commentary on international football games.
>>
>>155561719
>f1 fags joke that americans will mess up the names of all the drivers
>they say them correctly, even though most of the drivers themsleves say "luhklurrrk"
>why are they trying so hard?

redditors just look for any reason to be performatively anti-american

Our subhuman commentators try to say all names of all players as they do in their countries. Its so fucking annoying that i would love to punch their heads off
>>
>>155562503
You've never been to Luxembourg. I have.
>>
>>155555642
not like you would know, Portugieser
>>
>>155562530
Just transliterate the sounds into German. So instead of "Brown" say Braun. My opinion on this matter is heavily colored by the pronunciation of Hispanic names in America though, so take it with a grain of salt I guess.
>>
>>155562572
When was Luxembourg communist?
>>
>>155562585
He's not called Braun. He's called Brown. I literally don't see what's so hard to understand here. Calling him "Braun" would be incorrect and I'm not paying 18€ a month for them to make intentional mistakes in pronunciation.
>>
>>155562536
>mfw Sky Sports pronounces everything normally but then they get to
>>thickt
>>
>>155562659
Braun is the closest way to pronounce his name using the sounds that German offers. Unless you're going to stop calling France "Frankreich" then just be normal. Don't try to pronounce everything like a native
>BUT HIS NAME IS NOT BRAUN
Yeah it's not however you'll butcher the American pronunciation either.
>>
>>155562776
We're not like you, we can actually pronounce foreign words.
We're not monolingual retards.
