The referee’s decision was completely inconsequential. Germany easily would have won either way.
Also, you always have to account for human error. Occasionally the referee’s decision will be imperfect. These things happen, it’s part of the game. As far as the referee was concerned, the ball didn’t cross the line. That means the ball didn’t cross the line - it’s that simple.
