Game's gone

there's no way this was the intention of the definition of "over the line" meant when the rules were drawn up.

it should be that when the ball is brought perpendicularly down from whatever height the ball is at, if the entirety of the ball IN CONTACT WITH THE GROUND is over the line, then it's a goal

this is what everyone intuitively thinks "over the line" is and is almost certainly what was assumed back in the 19th century

It’s literally exactly what they meant, entire sphere of the ball past the plane of the line is the standard for every sort of in/out decision and always has been. You’re a retard
>>
>>155585404
>change from entire ball to half the ball over the line for a goal
Brilliant, I'm sure this will do wonders to improve the game
>>
over the line means the ball is over the fucking line

if it's not, it's not a goal
>>
This confuses and angers the wc tourists
>>
>>155585431
it should be the if the tangent point of the ball to the ground is over the white line, then its a goal

having the whole sphere cross the white line is retarded

if a tree with its branch and roots grows in a garden and its branches overhang the wall, is the tree in the garden?
>>
>>155585035
but it is over the line?
>heh well actually that 1mm isn't, check m8
wrong. thats literally a CGI image recreated by (((VAR))). it's AI slop
everyone in meatspace and watching television could see it was a goal
>>
>>155585482
>>155585404
And when the ball is in the air? Which part is then considered, since there’s no part touching the ground to compare with?

You people have the IQ of baboons
>>
>>155585483
I care not about your sophistry, it's just as stupid as the proposed changes to the offside rule
>>
>>155585593
just trace a vertical line across the ball to the plane (ground)

enough with this bullshit
>>
if this was Argentina or USA its a goal

>>155585035
>>155585593
so if one atom of the ball is connected to the line it disqualifies it from being a goal? this is getting ridiculous, it should be based on a 50-50% rule or a 60-40% to be more fair, or just use common sense but nowadays no one fucking agrees what common sense is so i guess you arrive at retardations like op
>>
Easy. Make the line thinner
>>
>>155585730
50/50 or any proportions-based judgement is way harder to make in real time with your eyes than “do I see a gap between the ball and line when looking from the side”. Separation is far more obvious than ratios and proportions and even judging where the center of a ball is.
