The GOATs of all sports are 5'10-6'3
you literally can't prove this wrong

>Goalkeeper
~1.90 to 2m. Some are a bit shorter, but it is pretty rare. Taller is very rare, actually. You need to be tall enough to have a good reach and wingspan, but being super tall means you lack mobility. I think most elite keepers will be ~1.95m
>Centerback
1.90m to 1.95m, more or less. Tall enough to be good at headers, big enough to be heavy and hard to push away. But you have to be fast and still cover a lot of ground in a match
>Fullback/Wingback
Lots of range here. Some are 1.75m, some are 1.90m. Generally, it's one of the shorter positions. These players usually have to run a lot, they have to be quick and nimble, and usually they still have to show some sort of defensive skill (that usually requires some degree of strength and correlates with size)
>Defensive Midfielder
Also quite a bit of range. Shorter than centerbacks, normally. But often still fairly tall, let's say hovering around 1.85m, plus/minus 5cm
>Central Midfielder
Normally shorter than Defensive Midfielders, but can still easily be 1.85m
>Offensive Midfielder
On average shorter than the other midfielders. Some are only 1.75m, others will be 1.85m or something
>Wingers
Probably the shortest guys on the pitch, with some exceptions. Most of them will be below 1.80m, I think many are at roughly 1.75m. For this position, you need to be very quick and agile, heading ability is secondary
>Striker
Maybe the biggest range. Some are 2m tall lanklets primarily there to be hoofball targets or bulldozers, others are <1.75m nimble dribble midgets. And everything in between. It all depends on the style

Height is great for setpieces when your team can't score in the actual game

Football is intrinsically a team game - what might work for one person doesn't work if every player on the team is the same. If one side has tall players the other side has to match them with a few tall players of their own, otherwise they will just go aerial every time. On the other hand tall players can be clumsy with the ball at their feet - eg. Haaland has two left feet in outfield play while shorter players like Messi can be nimbler and dribble through tight spaces better.

Goalkeepers for sure need to be taller than average as they reach more of the goal. Remember that goal height was developed with the western world in mind, it's very possible that Asian countries would do significantly better if it was reduced (width as well). Women also probably wouldn't look so hopeless in goals if they were smaller, but of course women movements likely wouldn't be happy with that so we're stuck with what we have.

Depends on position.

Center back and goalie need to be TALL.

Fullbacks can be giga manlets or up to 6 foot 2 but you don’t want em taller than that.

Midfielders can be giga manlets up to 6’4”.

Wingers same as fullbacks.

Strikers can be tall strong in the air kind of giga manlets fast on their feet type
