>commentators, pundits and football fans keep raving about mbappe's world cup "hattrick" and how he almost single-handedly won the 2022 final
>2/3 of the goals were penalties
Why is the football community like this? Why are they so determined to recognize penalties as true goals?

As far as I'm concerned Miroslav Klose is still the true world cup leading goalscorer, because he scored zero penalties.

Klose was a striker
Messi and mbappe are wingers though

Who cares. The point is penalties should not count on the main goal tally. Only deranged traditionalists disagree.

At the world cup the % of missing a penalty is much higher than at a other competitions. Something like 20% for normal penalty and 30% for a penalty shootout.

Who cares, not an excuse. Penalties are not real goals.

its a final thats played once every 4 years, thats incredibly hard to qualify for once in a football career, there might not be another chance for decades to call a hat trick in the final even if its a giant meme
sports history isnt really something thats important, let them exaggerate, wgaf
