Why don't we just host every world cup? We have all the infrastructure without even trying, the most stuff to do for tourists, and all you third worlders love us, even if you talk bad about us on the internet.

Got better things to do

Wait till the knockouts and the thirdies start chimping out and breaking shit. Sudacas were wrecking stadiums all over the place during the copa two years ago. I'd like to keep my home nice thank you very much

>Deal with weather
Anon. That isn't how the stadium gets picked.
For the first time in FIFA history this world cup, every host city had to submit independent bids and FIFA selected whichever ones gave them the most $$$$$ while fucking over the host city the most.

If they cared about domes they'd require them from the host city but didn't.

This is why New Jersey is losing an insane amount of $$$$$ hosting the finale in the MetLife stadium. Because a governor who hit term limit gave a generously shitty offer out the door and the bid got accepted as FIFA saw $$$$$$$$.

His replacement meanwhile ran on cutting government spending and is seething the entire time about how much money new jersey is burning kek

Good news: we do. Interstates, the NEC, rapid transit, a plethora of airports, and of course many roads

Nta but I dream of high-speed rail connecting the largest cities in the east/west/middlewest of America going North to South in direction.

Obviously you'd need to separate them that way due to the existence of the Rockies and Appalachia but it'd create so much opportunity for business etc.

Which is unfortunately why it'd never happen. California can't even get their shit sweet and they own a majority of the west coast with the right flavor of political party for it.
>>
>>155707774
Yeah it's a pipe dream. We use airplanes here. Feel free to ride Amtrak to the game if you want lol
>>
>>155707782
Its just dumb. The people who can own private jets and helicopters can still do that with a high speed rail line transporting their plebians between cities. Imagine hopping on a light rail in Houston in the morning to be at a business conference in Chicago for the afternoon and back home in Texas before midnight. No TSA, getting your ears popped due to a planes altitude etc.

It'd be so fucking nice man.
>>
>>155707864
Because it's faster and easier to get on a chartered jet than doing all that, and the jet can land where the trains don't go. And if you're not an executive most business functions can be done online now
>>
>>155707774
>iously you'd need to separate them that way due to the existence of the Rockies and Appalachia
Not a real obstacle, Japan is nothing but mountains.

But yeah, not going to happen in your lifetime.
>>
>>155707885
I mean you'd be able to have a connecting line between each nort/South corridor in the Central/west/East rail corridors that cut through the mountains but it wouldn't make sense else wise to significantly run rail there because unlike Japan barely anybody lives in the rockies/Appalachia here.

>>155707882
If you had a high speed connection that actually existed I bet the same land route via plane would take more time when factoring in TSA, lines, weather delays etc.
>>
>>155702084
what's with the flag with 51 stars?
I think the problem with the USA hosting the world cup is that some small people in government, I think very small, haven't learned about playing fair and many countries are complaining that the USA isn't letting their people in on an equal basis.
If the USA can't play fair then the game can't be hosted in the USA and be called the "World Cup"
>>
>>155702084
The rest of the world doesnt want you too and didnt like the current one
>>
>>155707956
That's the point of the whole "high speed" thing. Pass through it. Gotta go fast.
>>
qatar was miles better, stop trying to push this shit.
>>
>>155702084
I’m ok with this but you should still have to qualify and we need to have a discussion regarding scheduling and visas and no more hydration breaks
>>
>>155703092
Based and big-brained pilled
>>
>>155707070
even the best train networks in the world carry 15% of commuters at best, its all an expensive meme that could be replaced with more parking in the city
>>
>>155702084
It's just kind of a money-losing shitshow (for the host country) and so nobody really wants to host it all that much.
This is why you see shit like Qatar winning a bid somehow, or Trump forcing them to give him a FIFA Peace Prize, before bombing Iran and nearly denying their visas to play in the tournament.
Basically, nobody serious wants to bother.
>>
>>155708073

>>
>>155702084
>even if you talk bad about us on the internet.

>>
>>155707774
America can't build their high speed rail because it'd a be bureaucratic nightmare. China could get it done easily because technically all the land is owned by the state, it's just leased to citizens, so they can take that shit and build build build, plus their labour laws are shit.
America's gotta worry about land ownership, eminent domain often ends up in courts and takes years to settle plus the payouts to the landowners balloon, then you got union workers who want big money, then you also have environmental protection laws n shit so you can't just build wherever and however you want.
Then you also have change in leadership every 4-8 years so it could just be dropped because new leadership loses interest.
One of the benefits of autocratic governments is shit can just get done without all these obstacles.
>>
>>155707956
If you have a private jet you don't go through TSA and you can use any airport instead of the big commercial ones. It's faster than surface transportation hands down

I love american culture, fascinating stuff
>>
>>155708265
That's such bullshit. Europe builds rail easily.
>>
>>155708334
Because Yurop has a much more powerful central government, and rail is not considered a divisive left vs right issue.
In burgerland building public transport is considered an attack on freedom
>>
>>155708357
In California they want high speed rail, have invested the money and have had the same one party system for almost two decades but its taking over a decade to finish one line. You're just defending blatant corruption. They haven't even started rebuilding the bridge that collapsed in Baltimore two years ago.
>>
>>155708391
Commiefornia has some of the strictest labour and environmental laws.
But yes, they are also both incompetent and like to steal tax money, I never denied that.
>>
>>155708250
Trophies any nation has won does not change the fact nobody wanted the world cup in the US, its one of the worst world cups ever held, and nobody wants back in the US for a very long time.

>yall aren’t exactly a football nation either
That is quite frankly a laughable comment I won't take seriously
>>
>>155708334
>>155708357
In Europe the railroads are primarily owned by the state so they can be easily used as an appendage for the state's goals. In the US railroads, except for Amtrak, are privately owned.
>>
>>155708431
You didn't deny that but you don't identify it as the main reason. America has loosed environmental laws than Europe. Europeans can't even use coal or farm anymore because jewmerica said so.

>>155708463
And the high speed rail projects in america are government lead
>>
>>155708391
California unfortunately has such powerful NIMBYism that it has paralyzed the state's ability to do anything. As a European example, think back to how law couldn't be passed in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth if even one person voted against it. That's how Cali is with construction and local-level govt.

So is Amtrak. What was your point?
>>
>>155708634
So then its not a disadvantage compared to Europe
>>
>>155708643
Yes it is. Nearly 100% of our rail network mileage is privately owned.
>>
>>155708265
The biggest obstacle is literally state politics. Though everything else you've said still makes it a nightmare which is why California has had such a terrible job getting their light rail off the ground despite politically having the support from its constituent base,.

Statelines makes it impossible anywhere else to even reach the failed on the table bullshit that California is currently suffering on due to what you said on land ownership and eminent domain.
Like California and maybe expanding through oregon and Washington could be possible but

Good luck on getting Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas all on board for a proposal, and without that interstate travel between large cities most states individually lack the population or purpose to make it work.

East Coast between the OG 13 and Florida would be so fucking good too. But politics and otherwise won't happen.

The Croat is right.

California has an extremely strict environmental law called CEQA dating back to the 70’s and signed by Ronald Reagan. This makes it very hard to build anything there. They also have higher rates of unionization than the rest of the country (and America unions are difficult to work with). Combine that with the rural landowners being generally difficult and you get the disaster that has ensued
>>
>>155708695
>East Coast between the OG 13 and Florida would be so fucking good too
We already have penn station tho
>>
>>155702084
Can you even feasibly walk to the stadiums from the nearest. You can't expect everyone to drag a car with them into there. I'm okay with a 10km walking distance as long as it's now likely that I'll get shot on the way.
>>
>>155708357
We have lots of mountains and our country is larger than all of Western Europe. It’s not like we’d just need to install 50km of high speed rail around Berlin or something
>>
no please
im already developing some illness from sleep depravation
but yea its a good host apart from the ad breaks
forget that
>>

if they hosted the games at college football stadiums, you could very easily walk from a hotel or bar to the games which they should’ve done. also would’ve brought in a ton of money to the small cities were these stadiums are located.
>>
The world needs the US and Israel to vanish for a century.
>>

The next US world cup being only in college stadiums would be so kino and it would also be cool seeing soccer fields being narrower and seeing how teams adapt to it.

I know that most of your land is larger than ours and that is why I don't want to make too uneducated guesses about it. Because there's a lot that I just don't know about aboaut ir. We already have freeways and airports to get places. A few trains would be find but California has proven they're far too expensive to build for the benefit
