I was looking at the Chinese League and like 1/3 of the teams who won it don't even exist anymore (for example the team with the most wins is Guangzhou Evergrande and it doesn't exist anymore thanks to Evergrande bankruptcy), and it only started in 2004 too. The cup for the winners also looks kinda weird

I'm a basketball fan, China don't do well in basketball either. Their men basketball teams didn't even qualify for the last Olympics while Japan did. Keep in mind it's supposedly their biggest sports and the Olympics is their specialty.
You can switch between soccer or basketball or any team sports and the Jap will still has a point.
