>>156033619I known it a bit trivial, but the commentary (and sometimes lack there of) is what keeps me from really following it..
Ok,I bought it and for very little, just 4 euros, and it didn't come with shipping because I already had to buy the Formula One 2001 Limited Edition with a bonus DVD from the same seller, and that was my priority, so shipping was already included with the F1 game. The game is brand new, without a scratch, as if it had just been bought new in a store. The same goes for the other game.I've been playing it for a couple of days, and it's quite problematic for several reasons:- The language is only in English in every European country because NASCAR is a niche competition in Europe, so the radio messages are incomprehensible to me, and I don't understand all the various menu options due to the "technical" jargon.- The instruction manual is in Italian, extremely short and concise, and seems to have been translated by a Chinese translator, which isn't at all exhaustive.- I don't know NASCAR or its rules, so everything is quite complicated for me.I'm driving in Rookie mode with no pit stops and 12% of my laps to get used to that driving style. I have to admit, the driving style is really cool, better than the IndyCar series. I can keep the car on the track, but there are some bastard drivers who hit me and send me off. They're not fair. "Rival" appears, and if I press a button, "Intimidator" appears, but I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.I'm playing "Season" at the moment and managed to finish second at Daytona, but I don't see a standings with points, and I didn't get on the podium.I absolutely need to take a NASCAR course to understand anything. They say 08 is the worst, but even if I could get the previous ones, I wouldn't understand anything since they're all in English.Anyway, problems aside, I'm really enjoying this game, and I'm glad I bought it.
>>156034061I recommend watching it on a delay, as it's all on YouTube, so whenever you want, you can just watch the parts with the race and not have to watch the parts with interviews, commentaries, etc., which are very long. Plus, they're in Japanese with no translation, so you can't understand anything. Then pick a team you like and then watch only that race live. That's what I did, and now I only watch the race I'm interested in. It's less stressful that way.

>>156034144I'm sorry to hear that you are having a language issue, which seems odd to me because your written English is absolutely excellent. I think many of these issues could be solved with technology. For instance, you can used your phone s camera to translate text in real time or take a picture and translate it. Similarly you might be able to use your phone to translate the radio messages. It would probably be easier to use YT videos for this.As far as the jargon goes, just post any questions you have here. Since you clearly have a strong understanding of racing and driving, it should be very easy for us to explain the NASCAR specific terms. For instance, if a driver says the car is "loose," then the car is oversteering. Conversely, if it is "tight," then it is under steering. You may well already know that, I just use it as an example of how you probably already understand the concepts. Otherwise, I'm glad you hear the overall gameplay is satisfying and hopefully, we can help you get a better understanding of what they are talking about.
>>156017096
>>156033619To be honest, I don't actually watch the races beyond the first few laps. I just enjoy the pre-show and grid walk, even if I don't know wtf they're saying.
>>156035734My written English seems excellent because I use Google Translate, but it's not precise, so I always have to change a few words. I can understand written English quite well, although for convenience and accuracy I always translate the entire page. Even the browser translator isn't at all precise, but I make up for it with my English, which is at school level.Spoken English is a different story. To understand it, I need it spoken very slowly; if it's spoken quickly, I understand almost nothing. Then there's the accent issue. For example, British English is totally incomprehensible to me, while American English, depending on the area, is more understandable. Perhaps Southern accents are the most difficult.Back to the game, I don't understand radio messages, also because, being radio messages, they are distorted.I don't use smartphones, I hate them. We're already spied on enough on our PCs with home networks, but with a smartphone it's 1,000 times worse. But then imagine driving a car in a race while holding your phone and listening to the instant translation at the same time. It would be chaos, lol. And I don't use an emulator, only the original PS2 console, so no help with technology.Regarding the technical racing jargon, yes, I know certain things because I follow Formula 1, but each type of race has its own jargon. For example, in NASCAR, what does "Intimidator" mean?I know the linguistic translation, but what should I do? Intimidate the opponent by hitting his car when it's marked as a "rival"?Then as I play, I'll ask more technical questions. For now, the priority is understanding NASCAR, how the championships work, the rules, etc. I'll take a good look at YouTube, yes.Yes, I really like the game. For now, thanks for your interest. I'll carefully read any advice you give me for racing well in NASCAR.

>>156037928I'm shocked that Mclel is letting Lundgaard go and is replacing him with Dixon. Dixon could provide helpful input but won't win races. I wonder if PNC Bank will continue to sponsor the 9. If Ganassi gets Lundgard they could sweep the road courses

>>156034144the EA NASCAR games had an Ally/Rival mechanic where if you bumped drivers they'd remember and be more aggressive, and if you raced clean they'd do the opposite. the Intimidator feature lets you spook drivers if your Rival rating with them is high enough, causing them to move out of your way or maybe even lose control. there are no podiums in NASCAR like there is in F1, you either win or you don't.

The cost:performance ratio on carbon fiber versus fiberglass is not amazing but at the same time the cost of carbon fiber is not actually that large in the scope of grotesquely bloated motorsports budgets. But seriously, you absolutely positively need to understand, the cost to play soccer is about $25 but a pro soccer team has sporting expenses that would cover multiple F1 teams for competitive reasons, barring strict contractual limits you can't regulate your way out of spending you can only regulate your way into it. In most modern series the problem is something like you could build a car 95% as good for 50% the cost but instead everything has to be the same to protect the biggest spenders.
Also of course single source parts (and BoPshit is single source partshit too, don't be confused) just make everything both shittier and more expensive. But I mean like a Gen 3.5 DP was a tube frame car that was barely as fast as a contemporary LMP2 only because it was allowed much more power and cost like twice as much leading like 80% of the teams to just stop racing them anyways but of course the rules were balanced so they would win 75% of the races with those shitboxes. As we also all know a current LMP2 could run the same lap times as Hypermemes at Le Mans without trouble for like 1/3 the money, possibly less and that's not because a dogshit spec hybrid system alone. It's all just fucking politics, no different than government spending.

The first drivers were liquor smugglers who used racing cars to escape the police and avoid arrest. I also learned that a race was won by a "monkey," and that people began to learn about NASCAR thanks to a "storm" that kept people locked up at home, allowing them to watch the first-ever live TV race in the late 1970s.NASCAR is amazing, both in terms of history and organization; everything is handled as if it were a national holiday.I'm leaving the links to the videos I saw; they have English dubbing and subtitles.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umcI6cTE6yEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIHTtEiAC4Ihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4wAHBt9f3chttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRX9m8wljyQAnyway, I don't understand why they say N08 is the ugliest, for me it's really cool.I drive with Montoya, because he comes from F1, black car number 42 and off we go.

>LE MANS, France – The first overseas race in the nearly 50-year history of Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) is set for this weekend when the HSR NASCAR Classic presented by Goodyear racing series debuts at the Le Mans Classic Legend, July 3 – 5. A full field of historic stock cars from the last seven decades brings the “Thunder of America” back to the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe in the heart of France a half a century after NASCAR stock cars first appeared in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.>The 36-car entry list features a compelling mix of both iconic machinery and celebrated drivers, and among the standouts is 2026 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee and 2004 Cup Series champion Kurt Busch.>Busch is a 34-time winner in NASCAR Cup Series competition, including his triumph in the 2017 Daytona 500. At Le Mans, the former Cup Series champion adds another chapter to his accomplished career, returning to the 2020 No. 1 Monster Energy Chevrolet Camaro that he piloted from 2019 to 2021 with Chip Ganassi Racing.

If you can read English well enough I highly recommend "Driving with the Devil: Southern Moonshine, Detroit Wheels, and the Birth of NASCAR" by Niel Thompson. It really gives a good impression of how criminal some of the OG stockcar guys really were and also details the initial organization of the NASCAR series. >>156125411Honestly, I'm fine with just watching; it's full of beautiful pit girls and cars. The pre-race commentary is irrelevant. It would be more useful during the race, but unfortunately, the live race is only in Japanese. However, there might be a possibility after the race is over: YouTube could add automatic translation with subtitles or English dubbing, or both. It happened once, and I watched a delayed race with Italian subtitles.Otherwise, you could use the 4K video downloader app and download the video with the entire race and subtitles. The paid version definitely has them, but the free version doesn't guarantee it.I also follow the Kyojo Cup, and I can't find them in certain races. If you can find subtitles, there's only one problem: the translation speed. The Japanese is so fast that you only see the subtitle for a couple of seconds in a long commentary, and you don't have time to read; you have to pause, which is quite annoying.

>>156158300Based and bald eagle pulled
>>156158300So, I've always thought this was pretty neat, but I just realized I have no idea how it is scored. So, what is going on here?
>>156158488There is a certain track where you have to pull all the weight of the trailer. The friction and drag increases with the distance as the weight comes down more to the front. If you managed to make it the full track, it is a "Full Pull!". If there are several trucks in the same class making the full pull, there will be a second run with an increased weight of the trailer. Until no one or only a single truck manages a full pull and the scoring is measured in distance. That's at least how I understood it.
>>156158648OK, I knew the trailer dug in more, but that makes sense. I just didn't understand the exact mechanism. I also didn't know if time was an element. Like how drag racing you have Elapsed Time and Reaction time and a driver can win with a slower ET if the RT was better. I thought maybe if they moved the same weight faster, it would play into it somehow, but it sounds like this is judged purely on distance. I guess my next area of interest is going to be the mechanical construction and technical regulations. Like how the fuck do you even get pic related to work?

Never been to a race of any kind before but probably going to MidOhio for indy. Any advice on whats good to bring? Are binoculars nice? Would a backpack with some drinks be better than bringing a cooler that needs to be dragged around when I move spots? Is a folding chair a good idea?

>>156168851There's apparently a big bump going into the China Beach turn and cars are going into the gravel, though no one has gotten stuck yet

>>156168980The very same. I'm sure the winter was not kind to it.Pato is job scared and it's effecting his concentration.
Indycar at Bathurst would be a bloodbath.
>>156169061>Pato is job scaredwhy would he be? they just got rid of Lundgaard, his only real competition.
>>156168694Bring a chair and prepare for a sunbath as the tree cover spots get taken by the tent boomers early. Backpack or cooler depends on how much you're moving.
>>156168694I've never been to Mid-Ohio, but I think it's a track where you'd want a chair, unless you plan to constantly be moving. I personally don't bother with a cooler and always have a backpack anyway. You're going to be in the sun all day. I think binoculars are pretty useless, particularly when you can't see far anyway. I've never heard an Indycar myself, but bring some form of hearing protection.
>>156169481they can't really run anything faster than a GT3 at Bathurst, it's only FIA Grade 3. even feeder series open wheel cars have too high a power to weight ratio.

>>156168694>Any advice on whats good to bring?A radio with earbuds and over the ear protection or at least some form of ear pro. Water, lots of water, sunscreen and money for snacks. Definitely wear a hat and sunglasses or rain gear as weather dictates and comfy shoes no matter what. A chair is nice if you want to watch from one place and a cooler full of snacks and beer are also nice if you don't plan on moving around a lot.
