Just to give Euros more of an idea, the Northeast which is getting slammed by 90-100+ degree weather also gets some of the coldest winters in the country. To get temperature swings we do in a single location, a European would need to travel between countries.

This is not correct. Fahrenheit is scaled around livable human conditions, scaled at the top by the high end of human body temperature. The brine solution was just used to synthesize the scale. The intent is for acclimation of organic issue.


It’s an intuitive scale where you can essentially treat 0 as 0% of your body temp and 100 as 100% of your body temp. You do not need to learn anything, it is intuitive. Look no further than a freezer. What is it set to? Take a guess? 0 degrees F. It makes sense.
