Just to give Euros more of an idea, the Northeast which is getting slammed by 90-100+ degree weather also gets some of the coldest winters in the country. To get temperature swings we do in a single location, a European would need to travel between countries.
Hopefully seeing this or feeling it firsthand will silence arguments about American versus European weather.

You'll naturally understand any metric if you're used to it you fucking retard, this is such a mindless argument. I know exactly what each celsius range feels like because that's I learned to begin with.
>>
>>156108046
Celsius uses metric in how it was formulated, Celsius itself is not part of the metric system. You are stupid as fuck. Americans use celsius, that doesn’t make it imperial.
>>
>>156108046
Just because you get used to relative ranges of how hot something is relative to boiling water doesn’t make the initial comparison point of boiling water not stupid as fuck to begin with.

Every single time you are recollecting how hot something is in Celsius, you are making it relative to boiling water.
>>
>>156107663

>>156108145
Do you recollect the freezing temperature of a solution of brine every time you see a fahrenheit value? Obviously not, you simply know what it feels like since you already had personal experience with the temperatures so you can draw comparisons.
Your line of thinking is just astoundingly stupid.

>global warming

>>
>>156108242
>you simply know what it feels like since you already had personal experience with the temperatures so you can draw comparisons.
This is not correct. Fahrenheit is scaled around livable human conditions, scaled at the top by the high end of human body temperature. The brine solution was just used to synthesize the scale. The intent is for acclimation of organic issue.

It’s an intuitive scale where you can essentially treat 0 as 0% of your body temp and 100 as 100% of your body temp. You do not need to learn anything, it is intuitive. Look no further than a freezer. What is it set to? Take a guess? 0 degrees F. It makes sense.

You have no argument, because NONE of this is an argument. You are trying to say 2+2=5 when that is not the case. You are projecting your flawed experience with a shitty boiling water scale to one scaled around your actual body.

You haven’t used F, so you have no experience, opposed to Americans who have used both since elementary school.
>>
Even Nigerians have AC by now what the fuck is wrong with yuropoors
>>
>>156108242
Yep, you’re falling for the brainrot. There is no argument for using Celsius for dry air temperature.

You’re trying and failing to say “well you can get used to bad systems of measurement”. But this is completely irrelevant. You COULD get used to using solely millimeters for every measurement, it’s still stupid to do so. You COULD tell the time of day by only listing what exact second of the day it is, but that is stupid to do so.
>>
>>156106720
Same.
Like I know we only get hot enough to need it maybe 8 days a year, but it cost £400, will last years and cools my home office down for me so I can work in comfort
>>
>>156108390
I know what my body temperature is in celsius because it's just a number so I could draw comparisons there, and it doesn't even personally matter to me since the weather here literally never reached my body temperature so I don't know what it feels like, what I consider average is closer to 20c or so.
Whatever you're saying is just completely faulty reasoning from someone with no basic theory of mind, it's like a baby struggling to understand how other people think.

Meanwhile someone is trying to tell you to stop measuring your bike rides in millimeters because it’s fucking retarded but “I’m used to it so I have to do it that way I can’t learn anything else”

You have completely succumbed to brain death, attempting to defend your pure ignorance.

I’m going to point out this fact again:

Americans use both Fahrenheit and Celsius. In grade school even. The same place you learn a ruler isn’t useful for measuring a football pitch. It’s like that. You refuse to acknowledge how deranged you are being solely because
>it works for me lol
>>
>>156107780
Wait is that what fahrenheit is based off of? Holy shit I wasn't taught this in school.
>>
>>156108390
This is a retarded argument, but really Fahrenheit is much superior because the 0-100 scale covers most weather in temperate climates (with anything beyond that being outright dangerous) and 1 ºF is about the minimum difference a human will notice (not with perfect frequency but often enough to be relevant). That's a much better way to orient the scale than based on the freezing/boiling points of water, which can very easily be memorized as needed.
>>
>>156108390
0 degree Celsius = 0% of body heat
37 degree Celsius = 100% of body heat
Weird how you can also do that.
>>
>>156108518
>measured
Wrong, that’s how it was synthesized, not what it is relatively measuring. The actual scale is based around livable conditions for organic tissue. Opposed to Celsius which is freezing and boiling water. Freezing isn’t so bad for dry air, but boiling water? Christ you’ve got to be so stupid that you die en masse of heat stroke every summer to use a system that ill suited
>>
>>156108652
>argument
There is no argument being presented. Pointing out the differences in precision between individual units of measurement is not an argument, it is a statement of fact

There are no arguments here, precisely why yuroshits get so ass blasted. There’s literally nothing to do exact pull the VERY AMERICAN BEHAVIOR I MIGHT ADD behavior of “it works for me tho”
>>
>>156108655
No, this is not valid, because you now have a scale going from 0-37

This exact behavior is why Celsius is stupid as fuck for air and body temp, dude, come the fuck on. 0 C is also NOT roughly 0% of your body heat. It’s actually -18, the temp your freezers are set at

So you’re saying, you’d rather scale your system not at 0 and 100, but at -18 and 37? This exact cope behavior is what you have to do to try and make celsius make sense

It

Doesn’t

Fucking

>>
>>156108594
>>I’m used to it so that’s that
Yes that's literally how day-to-day systems of measurement work, I can also estimate distances and people's height in meters since I already have personal experience measuring things in meters. If I lived with imperial measurements I'd able to do the same. It's just a completely braindead and arbitrary argument.
What's not arbitrary is the fact that metric systems are far easier to convert, you keep trying to say using millimeters would be hard because you're projecting from your own insane customary units that aren't compatible and convert to complex and non-terminating fractions, but in meters it's just 1m = 1000mm, so in your hypothetical we're just adding 3 zeroes to the end of everything. Someone who is 1.85m tall is 185cm tall, no broken math required, perfectly natural to understand how tall that is too.
>>
>>156108655
The reason this doesn’t work is because you can’t smoothly determine the temp relative to your body heat

Look at numbers other than 0 and 100.

56 deg f is corresponds to 56% body heat. If it goes up one degree, to 57 deg f you now are at 57% body heat

With Celsius, here’s the problem
13 degrees C is roughly 55% body heat
It gets 1 degree hotter
14 degrees C is now roughly 57% body heat

It’s not a smooth curve, because the scale isn’t concern with the human body, but boiling fucking water
>>
>>156108700
You're arguing that Fahrenheit is more useful because it describes human tissue/temperature, but that's not accurate. 0 ºF isn't uniquely dangerous just because it's "0% of human core temperature" (in fact it's not, because absolute zero is much, much lower). Nor is 100 (or 98.6 for that matter) the point at which humans start to encounter problems like heatstroke. We are warm blooded and our ideal external temperature is much lower than our internal temperature. When it gets to the 80s and 90s we need to sweat to cool our core temperatures, and in high humidity where sweating doesn't work heat can be dangerous or even fatal in the 90s (likewise in arid climates you cool better but will dehydrate very quickly well before temperatures hit 100 F). Obviously 100 is more dangerous than 90, but it's not some sort of drastic benchmark tied to our core temperatures.
>>
>>156108900
You seem to have a deep misunderstanding of your own units of measurement and how temperature is felt, which is just par for the course for a Fahrenfag.
>>
>>156108894
I have never once disparaged the metric system and I have cited it numerous times to explain to you why Celsius is fucking stupid.

Please, learn to read. Celsius was formulated with the metric system, but itself is not part of the metric concrete measurement system. You don’t measure a field with Celsius. You describe temperature.
>>
>>156108907
>argument

No argument has ever been presented. You are attempting to concoct some bizarre strawman because it is an unassailable position that Fahrenheit is superior for telling the temperature of dry air on every day use.

2 plus 2 does not equal 5, this is not an argument.
>>
>>156108777

>>156108657
0% of body heat is absolute zero aka -273C you fucking retard
>>
>>156109026
>your body
Theres a problem with that. You see, we are talking about the temperate of dry air. Which is why we care about your resting ambient body temperature, not a hypothetical situation in which your internal temperature is 0

You make zero sense. When you are considering how cold or hot it is outside you compare it to your latent body heat. Not the situation at which you experience hypothermia which is way before 0 in either scale
>>
>>156109001
Telling the temperature of dry air using core body temperature is not only retarded in itself and wrong but also completely useless for someone living in colder regions where the weather doesn't reach core body temperatures. Skin temperature fluctuates a lot and is how the body exchanges heat against the environment, so it's not even a good subjective measurement. In your mind it all neatly translates to some arbitrary definition of body temperature when in reality you're just drawing from experience.

Any number can be considered arbitrary, these are scaled after all. This is a non-point.

But is it intuitive? Yes. 0 F is what your freezer is set to. Makes a whole lot more sense than -18.

Which is “more arbitrary”. 0? Or -18? Both are arbitrary, one is just neatly constructed and superior.

lmao. Do you know what argument means? This is like those people who say "I'm not driving I'm traveling"
>A scale based around human body temp is more suitable for every day use by human than a scale based around boiling water
True. But the low end of F isn't tied to human body temperature (rather it's the low end for weather in Danzig when the scale was calibrated, i.e. a reasonably normal temperate city) and the high end is only incidentally relevant. Because we're not fucking reptiles and 100º F is just as arbitrary a threshold for human safety as 110º or 90º.

Funnily enough I agree with you very strongly on the broad point, it just pains me to see you say stupid shit to stupid Europeans because you seem to fundamentally misunderstand how temperature affects the human body.
