Double elimination is stupid for a sport where each match is 90 minutes and you have to transport an entire squad of players plus all the coaching and support staff between stadiums. It only makes sense for events where the matches are very short and all the participants are in one location.

If you don't let the team from winner's side have their extra life they feel completely robbed, but giving them the extra life means scheduling a second final which might not even happen if they win anyway.
