How would (You) fix soccer?
>>
Football suffers the same problems as basketball, there are too many stoppages for rule violations which means refs controls every match

A football match can easily have 40 free kicks and cards, a hockey match might only have 2 powerplays an entire game
>>
>>156614808
no hydration breaks
>>
>>156614920
people will dehydrate, hundred of spectators could potentially die...
>>
>>156614808
Make faults in the area award penalties more easily (so they are actually ref'd the same as other faults) BUT make penalty kick from farther away (let's say until you brin it down statiscially ~25%)
>>
>>156614919
>a hockey match might only have 2 powerplays an entire game

Hockey's a bad example because penalties are arbitrary bullshit. There are 100 penalty worth violations every game and the referees ignore most of them.
>>
>>156614808
var shouldn't be used for something that happened 1-2 minutes ago...
>>
>>156614808
Every pitch should have landmines
>>
>>156615212
People say this and they're complaining about the Egypt goal where the foul happened 10 seconds before the goal and directly led to it.
>>
Just ban usaians and australians from giving opinions about it
>>
>>156614808
If you get jews, muslims, americans, blacks out of football. It immediately improves
>>
>>156614808
If you are the one fouled on, you take the kick
Change the penalty box to a semicircle
Offside based on a set line rather than the other players
No penalty shootouts, you just keep playing until someone scores
Stop the clock
>>
>>156614808
permanently remove one player from each team every 10 minutes
>>
>>156614808
players who dive and squirm in pain on the ground must be benched, they could be injured after all
>>
>>156614808

>VAR only on goals, offsides and in the box
>No hydration breaks
>Bring back golden goal
>>
>>156615464
Golden goal only works if there aren't penalties after. And soccer will never have continuous extra time.
>>
>>156614919
The leaf is right, hockey refs won't simply call 99% of the penalties and if a ref team actually calls everything it turn into a complete shitshow with endless penalty minutes
>>
Penalty kicks should only be awarded for certain fouls. Like accidental handballs, slight contact in the box that does not stop an inminent goal scoring threat, pushing around during corners and other such soft fouls should award a direct free kick inside the box instead. Like a backpass to the keeper. Only serious fouls and denial of goal scoring chances should reward a penalty.
>>
Get rid of the goalkeeper position and just make the goals smaller
>>
>>156615772
This tbf.
Tired of shitters getting through knockout games just because their fucking goalkeeper plays a good game
>>
>>156614919
offside gets called only when it's obvious. what's obvious is up to the referee. if a goal is scored before offside getting called, it counts
>>
play inside a walled/chained box like hockey so the game doesn't stop every 10 seconds

>How would (You) fix soccer?
Many changes
> A: 10s to leave your own box
> B: 20s to leave your own half
> C: 30s on your opponent's half
> If the clock ends with your team still in possession of the ball the other team has to start possession from their box.
> If the other team manages to steal the ball, their clock starts right then and there.
I would also add something like a backcourt violation like in Basketball
> After crossing your half you can not pass back to your own. Upon violation, the opponent gets the ball in the center spot.
Then
>Whenever the match is paused, a keeper can come out of the pitch and be replaced by another. They don't count for the total of substitutions.
>If a keeper is hurt he MUST be immediately replaced, and if he isn't or the referee understands they are faking the injury to delay the game, the referee can give them a yellow card.
Plus
>Expand box until it touches the sides
>Foul in the big box = free kick from the free kick spot (pic related)
>Foul in the small box = penalty
>If ball comes out of the pitch on the sides of the big box, it results in a box corner kick (pic related)
>Once the team has possession of the ball inside the opponent's big box, there is no offside
And lastly
>3 sets of 30 minutes, if the teams are tied at the end of the match, wins whoever won the most sets. If tied, then extra time or pen.
>Blue card = out of the match for 5 minutes
>2 yellow cards = 1 blue card
>3 yellow cards, or 1 blue + 2 yellow = 1 red card
>2 blue cards = 1 black card
>new Red Card = out of the match
>Black Card = out of the match, and the next
>>
>>156616160
Ah, yeah, VAR:
>No automatic VAR shit, each team gets 2 challenges per game, and they can challenge any thing they want. If they get it right the call is reversed and they keep the challenged, if they get it wrong, they lose the challenge.
>>
>>156614808
Add an additional tiny motorized ball. One of the players of each team tries to find and catch this ball, and if he does, the game ends immediately and his team gets 15 goals.
>>
>>156614808
Net playing time of 2x30 minutes, but NO ad breaks possible
Only foot position determines offside
Only fouled players can take penalties
Repeal Bosman
Global salary cap that is enforced by any means necessary, including death penalties

You don’t need that much
>>
multiball
>>
Start carding people for acting
>>
>>156615182
No there aren't rule violations every 30 seconds of play like in football
>>
>>156616261
BASED.
>>
>>156614808
foul reform: More strict for holding/grabbing/tugging jersey. More lenient for late tackles when the player "had an opportunity" to dodge or jump over the tackle. Harsh penalties for simulation, yellow or red cards for very obvious simulation.
offsides: Both feet must be past the 2nd-last defender to be offside.
Extra time: 1 hr of golden goal with 3-55 substitutions allowed.
>>
Instant yellow card for any dive or exaggerated fall, there I fixed it.
>>
>>156614808
Give Argentinians a voucher they can exchange for a penalty at any time in the match. Each player can use one.

some way to slightly alleviate offside rule. It's too ridiculous when a goal is cancelled because a small part of the body is crossing the line, it feels very arbitrary and doesn't really change anything in terms of fairness.

>>156616190
they do something similar in ice hockey. Each team gets unlimited VAR challenges for goals: But if they get it wrong the goal counts AND the team who challenged it gets a penalty for "delay of game".
The effect is that there are not many challenges per game, teams only challenge when they are very confident. The downside is that now the coach (manager) can be directly responsible for a loss if he makes an incorrect challenge. So some people see this as the coach having too much responsibility for the outcome of a game, rather than the players on the ice
>>
>>156616564
I like that but I feel like a penalty is too big of a punishment for a delay of game even in this situation. In footie I think a free kick at a predetermined position could be interesting, or even a corner
>>
30min of effective time per half, with stopped clock; wenger rule for offside; add an orange card (sin bin)
>>
>>156616596
yes, by penalty I meant a foul, not a penalty kick. In hockey, fouls are called penalties. But anyway hockey fouls are hard to translate into football, because in hockey a penalty is a 2-5 minute timeout, equivalent to giving a player a red card but only for 2-5 minutes, once that's done they can immediately rejoin the play. So yeah like you said, maybe it would be more similar to a free kick.
>>
>>156614808
I don't accept the premise that a "slurpfest" is bad, on the contrary: the current age of seeking more and more stimulation, drama and spectacle has brainrotted everything and everyone.

Most suggested improvements are at odds with the question: what is the worst possible way they can exploit this "improvement" and is that better then what we have now?
>>
>>156616665
Oh, ok, that makes more sense lol
>>
>>156616261
i don't agree with the salary cap, but yeah

also, the fouled player penalty sounds good but what if the lad goes 'oh i can't take the penalty, my foot hurts, i need to be substituted by cr7'
>>
>>156614808
Hydration breaks every 3 minutes.
When a player is tackled the whistle is blown, and the players must set up again and pass the ball backwards.
They get 4 attempts to do this, if they don't score by the 4th attempt the other team gets the ball.
Only backward passes are allowed.
Players can carry the ball with their hands.
>>
>>156616261
>>156616700
also, why repeal bosman?
>>
Prevent all manlet referees with a chip on their shoulders and drunk with power from judging games, you can literally see it on their face when they've become pissed off at a player and are no longer impartial.
>>
more ngubu players more ngubu fans impregnating the fans
>>
>>156616765
okay, but how does that improve soccer?
>>
>>156616261
>Net playing time of 2x30 minutes, but NO ad breaks possible
do you mean time gets stopped each time the game gets interrupted? I'd second that then.

I'd also experiment with different tourney style. No groups 64 teams double elim bracket or something like that.

>>
>>156614808
max 4 players per team inside the box for corners
others can run in after the ball is kicked

no soft freekicks. players falls over when barely touched. stop giving a fucking free for this
>>
>>156616830
Yes, I mean it that way. I want it to work with technology in the pro circuit. You may have to keep the old approach in amateur football, unfortunately …
Personally, I would insist on the old 32 team format for the World Cup and the 16 team format for the Euros
>>
>>156614808
Hydration breaks every ten minutes for five minutes each for more advertising time. Yellow card for being offside (not recieving the ball but for simply being in offside position), Goalkeepers are allowed to physically hit opposing players with no consequence, Game is now 120 minutes instead of 90, Mandatory anti-racism kneeling before every match, five refs required on the field at all times instead of one, accidently hitting a ref with a ball in a pass is now punishable by a red card, Talking to ref is now a red card, any foul on the pitch warrants a penalty rather than just in the penalty box, any foul in the game allows pessi to have one free penalty per foul in his next game for each infraction, If a white player is subbed off for a black player (or vise versa) the white player must kneel in front of the black player until he is tapped by him on the shoulder signaling the substitution to be complete, goal is now 50 percent smaller.
>>
>>156614808
If after 120 mins the match has no winners yet, 10 players shall face each other in 5 pairs. Team with the most knockouts wins.
>>
>>156614808
Simple if no one score for 30 mins introduce another ball into play until someone scores. Doubles the balls double scoring chances.
>>
>>156616742
This but the shape of the ball should be altered to be more of an egg shape.

• Draw horizontal lines through all the pitch 2 meters away from each other and call offsides if attackers receive the ball inside the same rectangle as last line of defense
• Max limit of 3 defenders + goalie on the box
• Max limit of 3 attackers on the box
• Red card for dives
• 3 less players per team
• Resize the pitch in 85% of its current area

The ball can’t go back to your side of the field once you get to your opponent’s side.
1min/1.5min shot clock to force teams to actually attack.
Flopping/overacting is an automatic yellow card.
And fuck stoppage time, just stop the clock when the ball is not in play.
Quite literally just copy basketball, get some flow back in the game.

That circle in the middle. Make it a deep pit with alligators. Every time a player dives and is found to be faking it on video he gets thrown there. Red cards also get thrown in there. If the player escapes the death pit he can join his team again
