It is so cringe to see everyone rave about the French team, when they miss the entire point. So let me explain a few things about French culture,

First of all, the French people are EXTREMELY self centered. In fact, they tend to not even have stereotypes about other nations because they never think about them. Latinos, read and understand.

Secondly, at the core of each Frenchman is a unique cultural chauvinism unlike any other European country. They believe anyone exposed to it will just magically transform into a Frenchman, because it is so superior.

This is also part of the reason France allowed so many from its colonies into France. And for a while could not understand why these peoples acted so differently. If they were from a colony they are Creole and therefore must be French.

We have all seen that picture of the English U-20 team sitting segregated in an African/Caribbean dinner table and at an ethnically English dinner table. This don't happen at the French NT. Which is more separated between the Parisians and those from the rest of France.

Take a player like Mbappé. His dad is Cameroonian, and his mom is Algerian. A unique mix that is the direct result of French owning Algeria for 150 years and also having a former colony in Cameroon. The French empire is responsible for Mbappé existing, like it or not.

my god. do people not realize how grotesquue it is that in every fucking european country's squad, there are black people in there? it's not even just france's problem. like what is a black player doing in fucking Swiss's team? i have no idea where that country is located or what they did in the colonial era to ~obtain~ an access to a young buck, even fucking Norwey had them. it's just laughable but we can't laugh, it's all one giant SNL skit.

It's not a belief, it was an entire system. During colonial era, we taught the colonies the same thing we taught within the hexagon, and we told them this is your language, your history now; with the caveat that at the time even if they had merit, whites would make sure to keep the colonized at the bottom of the ladder.
These days it's different, more multi cultural, and all sides tend to accept both the bad and the good that France brought; but the root of it all is still France telling everyone "you're french now, deal with it", which is different from for example the US which still call their black citizens *African*-Americans. We don't do that here, they're not *African*-French, it's just "French".

Paris is becoming a cloaca gentium, which will produce many amazing racial hybrids and some ethnic horrors that will be beyond the powers of the future anthropologists to unravel.

There’s a reason France is specifically made fun of this constantly. Both Brazil and America also have Africans who dominate its sports disproportionally. But that’s an arrangement expected because they were in those countries since inception. France’s players are overwhelmingly from its former colonial diaspora, usually 2 generations in. It’s not a matter of Jude Bellingham having an English Father and Kenyan Mother, the team is overwhelmingly the African diaspora without even French sounding names. More so, France’s language is declining in Africa, so this grandeur of their culture seems to be cope.

This is kinda true, tho we do actually have stereotypes on (some) of our neighbours. Belgium (Wallonians) are dumb, Swiss and Luxembourgers are all bankers and rich, Italians are cheaters/mafia and germans are workaholics

The black Americans themselves chose that label. I see a lot of Europeans get confused by this all the time, they genuinely don't understand that these "polite terms" are often pushed by the NAACP or other black activist groups, it's not the racist US government purposefully trying to alienate them

The name part is a big detail that I think subconsciously affects things a lot.
American blacks always have WASP names like James Brown, Michael Jordan, Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson, etc... even Muhammad Ali was a changed name, he was born Cassius Clay.
In French Guiana, Martinique, etc... they're all black but named something Jean Toussaint and Marianne Baptiste. The subconscious effect of seeing insane foreign bullshit like "Ng'olkombe Mbmmdmpbmpepe" shouldn't be underestimated, names have power and them being blatantly foreign carries a lot of weight in people's perceptions.
I actually like Mbappe, but that unpronounceable "Mb" name has gotta go bro.

True.

Also true, kinda. We do believe that our way of living is kinda superior

Exact

To be honest, I think you summed it up pretty well.

That doesn't mean there isn't racism in France (there definitely is), but paradoxically, nobody really has a problem with an Arab or Black person becoming "France's favorite celebrity," "the best-selling artist," or "a national legend" in whatever sport.

Generally speaking, if someone speaks French and has the French habitus (eats like us, enjoys the same things we do, shares our social codes and way of thinking), most people have no problem considering them French. Their ethnic background is often seen as secondary.

A good example: there's a Brazilian chef on Instagram who lives in France and does blind cheese tastings, trying to identify cheeses just from the taste. She's surprisingly good at it, and the comments are full of people saying things like, "You've earned your French citizenship," or "You make us proud." It's obviously a joke, but I think there's a lot of truth behind it.

French national identity has traditionally been more assimilationist than ethnic. The expectation isn't "be the right ethnicity"; it's "become one of us." Whether France actually succeeds at that ideal in practice is another question entirely, but I do think that's the underlying mindset.

Send your africans back to their shitty continent. Fuck off already with this blatant cheating. You would give Messi french nationality if he was black just so he could play on your team. It's disgusting.
