It is proper shit.
I went to a fancy Sushi place in London a few years ago.

>>
>>156694820
Raw fish are firsties food, and it's the best way of consuming. It requires the highest food-safety standards. The business has strict guidelines in handling food materials. This is why only advanced countries like Japan and Brazil can deliver raw fish. Thirdies only know grilled or boiled fish.

I haven't eaten sushi made in japan but they're very tasty made here. The imported sweets like kompeito sucked ass though, literally just plain sugar. Mochi and dorayaki are better but have this very dense and bland feel which is the opposite of what I'd expect from sweet comfort food.
>>
>>156695809
No not at all. Most of their food is pretty bland, for example their curry rice is flavorless compared to thai curry. Their rice dishes in general don't have much flavor or spice compared to chinese or korean dishes either. I think most people who get excited over the food are the types who are just happy to have something japanese.

It's a term as vague as "american food", it entirely depends on the region and circumstance and there's no real sense of prostituting particular dishes abroad like other countries do.
Lots of meat and cassava-based stuff like barbecue, bife à parmegiana, casserole, polenta. Rich stews like feijoada, moqueca, bobó de camarão. Finger/street food like pão de queijo, pastel, coxinha. Sweets tend to very sugary like brigadeiro, beijinho, doce de leite. Biggest influences are portuguese and italian cuisine.
Domestic industry is extremely competitive too, it's difficult for foreign chains to penetrate the market since we already have our own established and rich food culture.
>>

Fine dining being gay as fuck is an opinion on a real food experience even if it's a shallow one, it's not outright disingenuous like you are.
I haven't even seen a single dish being talked about in the entire reply chain, which just goes to show how little you know or care about cuisine, you seem far more preoccupied with championing countries rather than food.

there's nothing that indicates feijoada had indigenous or african influences. Bean stew dishes just like feijoada existed in France, Spain and Portugal before and they were brought here by the Portuguese and underwent some changes and it became the dish we know today. I love feijoada to death but it really isn't that special. I can't give you one source but you can look all of this up on the web, plus some basic thinking ("hmmm, feijoada is just like the european bean stews that existed for centuries before the europeans colonized america. oh i know, it must've been created by native-americans and african slaves centuries after said colonization!")

Truth be told, there's no world where sushi is better than churrasco
however, they're in order of elimination, the artist could have made sushi and churrasco have the same expression then the same expression for the bottom half of the image, for a 2/2 split. i think the 1/2/3/4 split is more interesting/funny even if it's not as ''accurate''
>>
>>156698862
Fine dining is indeed gay, I'm glad we have an actual food culture here. Bringing up a soufflé is perfectly acceptable since it's actual food and it's commonplace here too and not associated with fakeass pretentious bullshit.

i dunno about this. the portuguese were preparing stew just like this before, using every part of the pig so nothing goes to waste, etc. only difference is the type of bean used, really.
but i just want you to know that i dont consider feijoada an european, it's a BRAZILIAN dish, regardless of where the influences came from (and indeed farofa comes from native-brazilians, as you pointed out). i feel incredibly proud and lucky that i get to enjoy this dish here.

Nobody knows what British food is like other than us Brits because there are 0 British restaurants outside of Britain and Benidorm, and the ones in Benidorm just serve exclusively full English breakfasts for the same brickies and pensioners that would otherwise be eating the exact same thing every day. 99% of people who comment on the quality of British cuisine have not once sat down in a country pub and eaten home cooked British food. They'll repost meme tier reheated slop from league one football stadiums on that footy scran twitter page and act like that is a good indicator of anything. British food is shit, this is why there aren’t restaurants abroad with our food, it simply wouldn’t sell. Also, no one in this country can cook properly and all people eat are Iceland frozen meals, Tesco sandwiches and a bag of Wotsits.
>>
>>156699304
That's something that you could replicate yourself with 100% accuracy so long as you can find thick cut back bacon and black pudding. There's a very slight chance that there's a butcher in Rio or Sao Paulo who could do both.
>>
>>156699362

Yes, the majority of the country are knuckle dragging orcs that don't know how to do anything properly, but that doesn't change the fact that we have a respectable culinary tradition. If you want to know why the average person can't make a pie from scratch even though a hundred odd years ago every fucker could, blame the rapid migration into cities during industrialisation and especially WW2 rationing. A generation of people raised on tinned food has had a detrimental impact on our collective ability to cook.

Empadão de Frango com Catupiry - a crumbly thin crust filled with shredded chicken bound together by soft cheese. Proppa sloppa.

>A Tier
Torta de Limão - adaptation of the typical lemon pie with tahiti lime, sharp and acidic with heavily sweet condensed milk topped with toasted meringue. Amazing at first but can be sickeningly sweet for me.

>B Tier
Empadão de Palmito - same concept as the chicken variant but harder to get right, requires a thick and well-seasoned base, and high quality heart of palm. Personally I'm a much bigger fan when there are no olives, and it's easy for any not-very-fresh ingredients to mess it up.

>C Tier
Torta Holandesa - buttery biscuit crust, dense and smooth vanilla filling topped by dark chocolate ganache. It's ok.

Brasilian cuisine is too varied, unlike your small tiny countries that everything is the same everywhere.

>Average flavourslop fan
Oh my science, all those aromatic flavours, the tex-mex harissa high fructose hot sauce totally interacts with the thai-african fusion blend of fermented seaweed and jerk seasoning blend! I feel so cultured after taking one bite, it's like pornhub on my tastebuds!!
>Average natural food enjoyer
Splendid, I can enjoy the natural tastes of these meat and vegetables roasted in butter, without the need for any additional substances to cover them up.

Maybe you should all stop bickering and bow down to the silent, yet allmighty food goat in the background: DEUTSCHE KÜCHE

Sushi is not overrated, at least not real japanese sushi.

Miku will be fine, she will either eat asado, paella or a big black baguette.

I don't know how anyone can have lunch without farofa, I always end up missing it eventually
>>
>>156713628
Any foodstuff that comes with a "no true Scotsman" copout is immediately suspect imo. I've had store bought sushi and restaurant sushi and actually-in-Japan sushi and I've never been particularly blown away. I suspect a lot of the hype just comes from how unusual it is to eat raw fish than the actual taste.

very similar flavour profile to, say, a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, which no yank would criticise. Fucking lame pretending it's anything but a quick snack though.

Anon this is gonna fry your brain but "As American as Apple Pie" is the most hilarious lie, we have apple pie recipes older than even the first American colony. But the one that really blew my mind is macaroni and cheese being ours.

Incidentally, the french call custard "english cream".

farofa is funny because I don't think there's quite anything like it anywhere else
I remember the guy that eats MREs on YouTube when he had a Brazilian MRE, he mixed the farinha with water, inadvertently turning it into another dish.

i know apple pies predate the US, honestly you'd be an idiot to think otherwise. that doesn't change the fact that whoopie pies are an american invention. they're two different things lol
