Would the UK or GB have accomplished more in footie had they merged?

Honest question, I don't know the situation of each FA, leagues or players besides the most popular dudes.

How would an all-time team look like?
What about a current team?
>>
Scotland and Wales would barely help
Bar some specific good player here and there
Its more soulful for them to be different teams.

Would they really? I have always been under the impression that a lot of English players just get overrated until they flop and get forgotten. Save for the top ones everyone remembers
>>
Gareth Bale is the only player who'd have been in the team
>>

and Giggs back in the day. can't think of any scottish ones though

Robertson and McTominay

NI is also included, and they do play as Team GB in the Olympics, they have 3 titles there. But they're ancient, turn of the century wins.

England's problem was more related to tactical rigidity and non-existent team cohesion, rather than inherently terrible players, I don't think adding the other 3 would help performance.

Also, the 4 Home Nations have special IFAB votes, they would not want to give those up for no reason.

Plus I don't know if there would be any legal barriers to the new Union team inheriting the '66 cup win.

Yeah but I couldn't find the NI logo kek

Makes sense

>they do play as Team GB in the Olympics, they have 3 titles there. But they're ancient, turn of the century wins.
That's because the Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish FAs are worried Fifa will kick them out of the world cup if they compete with England in a GB Olympics team, in the earl 20th century Fifa didn't exist yet
>>
Yeah we'd do so much better with Brennan Johnson in the squad
>>
>>156697541
>and they do play as Team GB in the Olympics, they have 3 titles ther
All won the English national team, 2 of them definitely by English amateurs.

Kenny Dalglish

Why should England get to ride the coattails of real chad countries?

Ian Rush would have been in the squad

80s GB would have been Scotland plus Rush, Lineker and Bryan Robson
>>
>>156697464
Giggs playing for England would have been beyond kino.
>>
Rigging aside, they could have won 1978 and 1982, just pick Liverpool and play them as is

Neville Southall would have walked into the England side and retired Shilton early. And he'd stay in until he got fat and Seaman picked up at Arsenal.
And John Charles obviously
Probably Speed and McAllister a fair few caps in the early 90s. They were winning the league while England were using Carlton Palmer.
Souness, Bremner and Danny McGrain definitely.

One of the best outside mids I've seen. Also a top candidate for worst brother.
