watching baseball on and off for the first time ever because I bought a subscription to watch games for a relative and it's something to put on the second monitor. seems to me like this sport is basically flipping coins. pitchers are OP as hell, and the game is almost always decided by which team's good starting pitcher happens to be playing today. am I wrong? no team can afford to have 5 good starters so every team has 2+ bad ones. Whenever the good ones are up the team wins and when the bad ones are up the team loses. The only remotely competitive games are when it happens to be 2 good starting pitchers facing off. and the matchups between pitchers are essentially random with so many games per season.you could cut 40% of the games played in a season so you didn't need to play a shitter pitcher every few games and it would actually be competitive instead of an exercise in futility almost half the time.It's pretty lame how teams have a billion relief pitchers too so everyone throws as hard as possible at all times.

Obviously I'm talking in general here and that's what matters when it comes to who has a winning record at the end of the day. If an elite pitcher is 12-1 or whatever that 1 loss does not somehow negate the fact that he somehow won 12 of the 13 games he was in despite even the best teams having a ~.600 overall record. Obviously the pitcher is disproportionately affecting the outcomes of games, to a laughable degree. The complaint I made about relief pitchers was exactly in line with that. Pitching is already overwhelmingly dominant, so why do they allow teams to use an entire parade of pitchers per game just so they don't lose 0.2 mph after 12 pitches? Shit's gay.
