I suspect that is FIFAs specific wish, and honestly it might be fun to see them get a few games. Will be dookie games for the most part though

I don't understand this retarded shit of playing a few matches across the world to sabotage players with jet lag but it should be fun to watch more meme teams playing.

64 isnt that different from 48, so okay. The real retardation is 6 countries and 3 different continents hosting it.

Next step will be to make sure India and China don't get humiliated by the Pot 1 and Pot 2 teams in the group. You can't just force them to participate and wreck them, for FIFA to make money they will rig all of their matches.

>>157040407
China? Possible, but only once Asia has at least 12 spots. 14 would be better
India has no chance as of now, they're not among Asia's best 20, probably not even 25. Even a great run and some lucky draw won't suffice unless a miracle occurs

Said it elsewhere already, but the distribution I expect is
>UEFA: 18
>AFC: 13
>CAF: 13
>CONCACAF: 8
>CONMEBOL: 7
>OFC: 1
>Intercontinental Playoffs (for everyone except UEFA like before, and probably expanded to proper mini-tournaments with 4 or 8 participants each): 4
>>
>>157040737
This is retarded, a country hosting again after 12 years? They already ruined 2022 and 2034 with dogshit hosts, we want world cup in flesh clays and interesting ones like australia, china, united kingdom
>>
>>157040778
If they don't make then you're going to have a 128 team WC. The whole point of this is to have those two in the tournament.
>>
>>157040850
>this is retarded
Look at FIFA since 2018
Might as well eat a broom if 2038 isn't given to the US
Perhaps New Zealand will get one or two pity games to throw Oceania a few breadcrumbs
>>
>>157040850
I want this too but they are messing up their rules about continent rotation. Honestly they should scrap those.
>>
I want to see 14 game world cup with four group stages.
Group A would be seeded
FIFA Rank 1, 17, 48, 64
Group P 16, 31, 32, 49

Continue that pattern for four groups where the top 2 advance until only 4 teams are left and then have just 4 knockout games; the semis, third place, and final. This way no one gets easy or hard path and they have to prove quality consistently over many games before the big 4 face off in knockouts.
>>
>>157040355
Here's how I would allocate the spots
>Europe: 20 spots + 4 playoff spots
>Asia: 10 spots + 2 playoff spots
>Africa: 14 spots + 4 playoff spots
>South America: 6 spots + 2 playoff spots
>North America: 4 spots + 3 playoff spots
>Oceania: 2 spots + 1 playoff spots
>Intercontinental playoffs: 8 spots
Rig it so that China faces the Oceania in the playoffs
>>
>>157040355
Yeah its good
>>
Multiple hosts is so shit. If it realy is 64 we need to create some countries in south america
>>
>>157040898
>>157040905
I feel like if they want WCs in Muslim countries so badly, they should host in Turkey or Azerbaijan, countries that wont ban alcohol or stuff like that. I dont know how rigid Morocco is about their islam stuff so idk, but Qatar, Saudi Arabia etc, are dogshit as hosts.
>>
>>157041116
You need to ban baseball in Venezuela to force them to try at football

>>
>>157041172
South America has 10 teams and 6 spots so it’s obvious they would qualify anyways
>>
>>157040850
We already have stadiums and can easily host again
>>
>>157040621
>2038
U.S.
>2042
Uk and Ireland
>2046
China or Austria and New Zealand
>>
>>157041421
But its boring. The WC is a rare event, happens 2 times per decade. They need to diversify the hosts.
>>
>>157041461
We’re a diverse host
>>
>>157041116
The problem is very countries have the infrastructure to handle such a huge event in the modern era. That’s why I think the US is almost guaranteed 2038, we have so many stadiums we could host it entirely in new 80,000 capacity venues that we didn’t even use this time
>>
>>157041510
If they relaxed the rules, it easily go to UK or Germany or probably France in 2038 though. Those would be fun
>>
>>157040407
lol lmao
no
>>
>>157040457
They will put full groups in each of those countries, because of the expansion. Which means the lag only hits for round of 32, for which they likely will get almost a whole week extra anyhow.
>>
>>157041623
I thought this too but idk if Uruguay and Paraguay have two stadiums that could be used
>>
>>157041587
You will 100% get 2038
2042 will likely go to the UK - or China, if they really decide to get into it
If it's a 64 team World Cup, FIFA will demand 20 stadiums with 40,000 seats (not bleachers) or more, among them at least one with 80,000 and two with 60,000. And all with tons of hospitality space for VIPs, of course
Germany for example would actually need to build quite a few new stadiums (or expand existing ones, which can be very tough as well) to host under these circumstances. We don't have 20 stadiums with the minimum size, even though I'm fairly optimistic we could have 20 clubs filling such stadiums
>>
>>157041851
The UK could host such a tournament, England alone couldn't as of now. But they have enough investor money flowing into PL clubs to make it possible, I'm less optimistic about a potential German bid. Our clubs would love to expand already, but most can't do it. Even a modest 40,000 stadium that barely satisfies FIFA's World Cup hosting demands would probably cost 300 million or more, no club that's even vaguely afraid of relegation will spend that money on a stadium - even if they had enough, which they don't
Expansions are similar, even for the really popular clubs
>>
>>157040850
it was the most profitable world cup ever. i agree that i don't want the us to host again but fifa is easily swayed by money.
>>
>>157040407
Imagine a WC general without VPNs
>>
>>157040408
Think of a good acronym
>>
>>157040407
>China
Maybe
>India
Lol, lmao
>>
>>157040407
China, maybe. They aren’t on the level of the top 6, but with expanded slots for Asia, could probably make it to the playoffs against opponents more on their level. Would be destroyed in the group stage of the World Cup if they ever did make it though.

India has a long way to go. They aren’t actually bottom tier like people think as theres a good 25 or so other countries they clear, but they don’t have enough to push through to the World Cup yet.

It’s the Arab countries that benefit the most from an expansion.
>>
>>157040850
Well the problem is their rule of needing a two cup break from a confederation before they can host again, and they’ve backed themselves into a corner setting things up for the Saudis to host.

>2022 was AFC, who couldn’t host again until 2034
>2026 was CONCACAF
>2030’s bullshit is a combined CAF, CONMEBOL and UEFA cup
>2034 now can only be AFC and OFC, and it’s gone to AFC
>2038 can’t be AFC, CAF, CONMEBOL, or UEFA. For OFC, New Zealand can’t host it without partnering with AFC’s Australia, especially now in the expanded format. So it HAS to be CONCACAF again, where most of the countries wouldn’t have the capacity to host bar the ones that just did
>>
>>157040819
To illustrate, the 13 best nations of Asia according to the world ranking are
>Japan - 17
>Iran - 22
>Australia - 28
>South Korea - 32
>Saudi-Arabia - 58
>Qatar - 59
>Uzbekistan - 60
>Iraq - 63
>UAE - 68
>Jordan - 73
>Oman - 79
>Syria - 83
>China - 91
Followed by Bahrain (92), Thailand (94), Palestine (95), Vietnam (99), Tajikistan (101), Kyrgyzstan (106), Lebanon (115), Indonesia (118), North Korea (120), Kuwait (133), Philippines (135), Malaysia (136), and India (138)
That's 26
>>
>>157044649
>they’ve backed themselves into a corner setting things up for the Saudis to host.
You think this wasn't planned? They did 2030 to hand it to the Saudis AND ensure the US gets another cashcow run in 2038, I'm 100% sure of it. It's just so convenient
>>
i'm excited for the 128 team world cup 2034 saudi arabia, the bidding for which was won uncontested because everyone thinks saudi arabia is the best place for the world cup

i'm looking forward to the 3 hour half time show and the 8 hydration breaks

>>157044833
The hydration breaks were orchestrated well, too. 2026? It's hot in the US in summer! Even though half of the stadiums were domed and had AC
2030? It's in Iberia and Morocco! Of course you need hydration breaks, what are you, a monster who wants players to die?
2034? Saudi. Arabia. Need I say more? Doesn't matter that the tournament will likely be in winter again (though Saudis currently pretend they can do it in summer thanks to domed stadiums and AC, as did Qatar)
And 2038 ... it will come back to the US again lol
By 2042, most people won't even consider it an anomaly

>>
>>157045111
They will do that next "because it makes sense". But the actual reason is that they can show even more ads then
If it weren't for the ads, I'd personally be in favor of it if they could show a good plan on how to implement it reliably. Preferably also for amateur football, though low-level amateur footballers would really suffer having to play net 60 minutes
The clock should always count up, though
>>
>>157040407
The very last thing this sport needs is India and China making it. It would be so fucking insufferable
>>
>>157044649
It was as simple as
>2030: uruguay paraguay argentina
>2034: spain portugal morocco
Then 2038 would be free for china or aus+nz
But of course thry need a retardation
>>
>>157040819
Asia and Africa shouldn't have double digit spots honestly.
The Caribbean needs to break away from CONCACAF and give them 1 spot. Because they shouldn't even be in CONCACAF in the first place.
>>
>>157045305
It should have been
>2018: England (though Russia was still acceptable, I guess)
>2022: Australia
>2026: USA
>2030: Argentina + Uruguay
>2034: Spain (and maybe Portugal)
>2038: Someone from Asia that isn't an Arab petrostate
>2042: Morocco
>>
>>157040355
Damn, Chile is finally making it.
>>
>>157045352
They will easily get 11 spots at the very least. I expect especially Asia to get more than can be warranted given their performance level. Africa is actually balanced (mostly due to the power of diaspora), Asia just sucks for the most part. But FIFA will treat them favorably since
>AFC is part of their precious anti-UEFA bastion and necessary for modern FIFA politics. AFC will not want to fall behind Africa too much when it comes to the number of spots, FIFA giving them equal treatment is doable
>Asia is the continent with the big and promising markets FIFA wants to harvest. DR Congo and Cape Verde are not as interesting to them as China and perspectively Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, India. Not to mention the generous petrostates
FIFA will probably spin the abysmal showing of Asian teams this World Cup as a reason for the expansion somehow, "development help" or something. Meanwhile, they will say Africa was so successful that they deserve more spots
>>
It will be fun, but I think more matches should be played in South America.
>>
>>157045237
They would get blown out though
>>
China maybe. AFC will probably have ~10 spots, China is 12th in the Men's ranking and I think they have the capacity to qualify to at least 1 of the next 3 WCs.
India would be a miracle. They're 26 in the AFC. They're significantly worse than North Korea.
>>
>>157045554
Their drones would still shit up the tournament, FIFA would hardcore favor them, their companies would get a lot more prominence during the tournament, and there'd be big investments into their football infrastructure afterwards, both from FIFA and their actual governments. The entire discourse would revolve around their inevitable awakening as football superpowers. Even if it never happens, that would be hard to bear with. It's just so annoying
They can fuck off. If anything, these countries should get balkanized. But the least God can do for us is keep them as far away from a World Cup and FIFA's greedy paws as possible
>>
>>157045616
palestine is almost 10 spots ahead of india. 3 of their starters have died since 2023 and 100% of india's players are professional. it's just super hard to understand
>>
>>157040355
64 is better than 48. No 3rd place shitters, so you MUST win at least 1 game to make the top 2.
>>
>>157045941
Yeah 48 makes no sense
>>
Group stage was the most fun. More games more seethe more shit posting. Which timezone is going to get the hardest cucking?

>>
>>157044923

The whole website would crash
>>
>>157040407
Hahahah
No
>>
>>157045941
>increasing the groups
You are not seeing the inherent problem here, how long is this shit going to last now? And just how irrelevant will these groups be? 48 teams was already pushing this to the limits with only Cabo Verde having something to show to the world, do you really think that France and Spain beating the shit out of Fiji or Aruba will be a good show? And how many of these surprise teams got to the quarters? It will be an absolute shit show that will last for 2 months only to end up with the usual teams in quarters.
>>
>>157048226
The gap between 64 and 48 is less meaningful than 48 and 32
>>
>>157045237
China would probably be the best bet to save the World Cup.
Do it in a proper country that’s at the cutting edge of technology, rather than on an oil-rich island.
>>
>>157049983
This
They’re just saving this rubbish by letting a few of the best third-placed teams through.
The problem now is the imbalance between the groups and the draw.
>>
They should do 64 for the centenary and then go back to 32 for 2034.
>>
If our men's national team were full of half-whites and half-japs, do y'all think we'll make it? Our national women's team is the same; full of half-germans half-aussies and half-americans and they are playing in 2027 :D
>>
>>157050149
No they’ll probably just keep it
>>
>>157040407
China managed to qualify back when AFC had less spots. Their main problem is that the Arab countries improved their game and are now dominating the spots behind Japan, South Korea, Iran and Australia. This time Oman, UAE and Indonesia would have qualified before China.
India is a completely hopeless endeavour.
>>
>>157040355
64 teams would probably not be such a bad expansion if Uefa got 8 out of the new 16 available spots, or basically 24 Uefa teams, leaving 8 new spots to be split with the other 5 confederations. They're the only confederation with enough quality at the mid-tier level nations to not completely ruin the tournament. But Fifa hates Uefa so it's more likely that Uefa will barely get 2-4 extra spots while Asia and Africa get 4 each and Concacaf/Conmebol get 2 each. And with 64 teams, no 3rd place teams go through but the group stage is watered down even further with almost no guaranteed upsets whatsoever unless Fifa decides to spice it up and change the draw and seeding.

I was surprised to see the ads on the Fox Sports broadcast at a sports bar when I went. I'd had the Telemundo broadcast at home, and they just put a marquee on the left and bottom sides of the screen while showing the field, which was neat; i still got to see the huddle and everything going on
