Dont forget
>One small piece of plastic on the track
>15 minute yellow flag
>Drive 1 corner in green
>Another 20 minute caution
Im sure my times are a little exaggerated but it felt like they ran one quarter of a lap over the span of 30-40 minutes before the end there. Absolute snoozer of a race and it was impossible to pass. Heim won and grats to him but it felt like it was more on the pit strategy then anything he did.
>>
I don't feel bad for missing /turnleft/ this week
>>
>>157150996
Even the thread was pretty shitty, i think there was some bored f1 people in there just being annoying.
>>
>>157149216
It is the most boring track in NASCAR and people shitting on Gen 7 road racing being worse than Gen 6 and having too many road races where those DAMN FURRIN KIWIS could win so they brought it back sure didn't fucking change anything.

In Indy circles you will see complaints that removing the conventional apron and going to the separated warm up lanes and curb setup hurt the racing for Indy cars but that is on the back burner these days because the cars are draft locked go-karts so you're guaranteed one of the however many races of this rules package +1th closest finishes in history, but NASCAR has always absolutely desperately needed that extra unbanked lane on the bottom to run on like other flat tracks. They even had financial approval to bring it back only for NASCAR in 2014 but never did it (partly some shit about not wanting to extend the SAFER wall further into the short chute to account for the new impact angles and it not working the way they did it at Pocono)

>>157151037

>>157150947
>then anything he did.
he did make some borderline blocks though
>>157150996
i thought i'd miss it more but it hasn't been too bad, both of the races i've completely missed so far have been snoozers
>>157151107
even if you swapped the strip of grass for asphalt on the warmup lane i don't think these shitboxes or the gen6 would handle the transition from the banking to the apron unless they brought back minimum ride heights
>>
>>157151453
I mean I've seen people use the apron at NHMS and North Wilkesboro so it's not absolute impossible but yes that was why they didn't like it for the tunnel turn. As much as Pocono turn 2 is called a replica of Indy turn 1 it's not actually the same in terms of banking transitions and stuff though, like Indy cars could use the apron at Indy and you don't see them doing that really anywhere else other than before they changed Milwaukee.
>>
>>157151107
>I think you are a mentally ill faggot and the architect of your own imagined problems.

We just can't keep going back to Indy without drastic car changes or going there for the road course. That wasn't racing yesterday, it was an abomination. I know everyone loves to shit on the car, but I actually think it races well at multi-groove tracks. This is something Indianapolis will never be. Is there any good source that breaks that whole thing down? All I've ever heard about it is what people have posted ITT.
I don't doubt it, but I'd be interested to see something someone is will to associate their name with, ya know.
Also, Smoke smoked a guy and we definitely have those recipes.
>>
>>157154242
>I'd be okay with removing it from the schedule entirely
This, but Roger needs the income to offset buying the track and IndyCar. There is no way the this race wasn't part of financial projections until the end of time.
>>
>>157154295
iirc the qrd is
>hendrick wants to sell merch company
>guy with all the connections wants to leave company and form his own
>buyer not happy about it
>one night after a charity event the guy with the contacts is murdered in an attempted robbery
>except the robbers didn't take any possessions from the victim or his wife and just ran away
and eventually the case got cold and remains unsolved, there are other fine details that point to the potential buyer being the main suspect but saying "rick hendrick whacked a guy" sounds more meme, just one of the many shady things rick had been involved in

ADAC Nordrhein was part of the group who fought the track owner, and that trial is still going on, technically.

>It's 100lbs lighter
That's good but the big deal is going to be how the weight is distributed. Since the hybrid isn't going anywhere a new chassis will help with the car's drivability.
This is the part where I say yet again that the hybrid doesn't do anything but save ~2 laps of fuel while totally ruining the car's handling and being a statistically significant failure point.

Chevy doesn't care. Chevy Performance stickers and engines are on every short-track car in America. They all run catless exhausts.
Maybe instead of letting Honda dictate to Indycar, Indycar should dictate what the engine is and invite OEM's in. Honda has decided to pull out a gun and shoot themselves in the foot and kill their rep as an enthusiast and performance brand by putting hybrids where they don't belong. (CR-Z, NSX, Prelude) And are pulling Acura out of endurance racing.
Nobody else should be forced to do so.

Honda really does keep fucking up simple things like making a sports car that isn't an ugly, pigfat piece of shit and running a copy paste sports car program. The last cool road car they had was the S200 and that stopped production 17 years ago. I think there would be interest from other manufacturers who otherwise don't want to put up with their crybully nonsense if Honda left.

I think we should remind ourselves the key features that make it much different from the glory days of CART or Champ Car.
Some design cues not being applicable any longer are understandable, but there are a handful of things that would be small adjustments that would help aesthetically. Front wing is too wide, underfloor is too wide, front nose is too long and low, etc.
All of these adjustments I mention would be aerodynamic or potential safety downgrades so I'm not badgering them too badly.

True, I can fit in them unlike Helio's Hogan car, but F1 cars are much larger and heavier today even without fuel in them.

>>
That car is genuinely awful and there has to be something wrong with everyone responsible for it

>listened to 5 years of retards claiming the gayloscrèen would look better on a new chassis
>looks the same from every angle but rear 3/4
How will they shill for this?

Kept everything ugly about the current car and ruined everything decent looking and put obsolete F1 knockoff wings on it for maximum embarrassment and lack of identity.. Somehow it looks exactly like what the team owners complained about like two years ago too, goddamn does Dallara not have to try.

>>157167868
Sure if they meet their design targets and get their new engines (they won't)

DHL car looks too blatantly like trying to force something meant for a completely different shaped car with IP they can't use, Sunoco is really nice besides the shitty way they ran the blue around the door and the way they kinked the stripes at the rear fender seems awkward but it's hard to totally figure out with the other car's door in the way.

>The IR-28 is equipped to exceed current lap times
>exceed
It certainly is

>Design of the new NTT INDYCAR SERIES car begins with a sleek and modern look while retaining the unmistakable DNA of past iconic series cars
Ah simple mistake, clearly they meant ICONIC committee cars, as in the DW12.

>Also for the driver, the new car will feature electronically controlled driver adjustable anti-roll bars, which will provide for enhanced tuning and raceability while cleaning up the cockpit by eliminating standard knobs and handles, thus, also improving driver safety.
Also for the driver the new car will feature more shit that will stop working and make people crash

>Additional updates for the IR-28 include the introduction of the Custom AXIS Inertance Control Suspension System. Built around a lightweight, shared damping architecture, the AXIS platform expands spring, damper and inerter tuning options without increasing costs. Its highly tunable, multimode design improves mechanical grip through suspension optimization, reducing reliance on aerodynamic load while giving teams significant setup flexibility. The NTT INDYCAR SERIES is the only major motorsports championship to permit both front and rear third-element inertance systems, making the IR-28 one of the most advanced suspension platforms in modern motorsport.
I think they said they're going to spec dampers, anyone speak word saladese?

>they're going to cram a battery in the bellhousing
Uh good luck with that.

>Development includes a gearbox that sheds 25 pounds from the current unit.
*25 pounds to be finalized (the current gearbox was incredibly overweight and required a total suspension redesign that also made the car uglier)

God I can't get over how fucking huge that front wing is, with the colour scheme they used that thing is such a distraction it makes the whole thing just look like the current car with massive fucking hillclimb snowplow wings on it, and I mean the current wings are already comically large.

>F1 cars are much larger and heavier today even without fuel in them.
That's a lie. Road/street is 1785lbs+185lb minimum driver+ballast weight for 895kg (goddamn) combined weight. F1 this year is 768kg combined weight, at is peak it was 800kg. Indymobile is a fat fuck, close to the LMP1 non-hybrid minimum weight and significantly heavier than the good 00s LMP2 cars. Even a 100lb weight reduction still leaves it a fat fuck in last gen F1/sports car weight territory. Panoz DP01 was 365lbs (20%) lighter.

Current F1 car is also significantly narrower, it's only longer.
>>
I guess im not sure what people expected from the new car. It was never gonna be a front engine roadster, and im glad its not an abomination like the formula e cars. I'm just glad to have something that looks holistic unlike the current frankencar
>>
I've noticed a severe lack of head-on shots of the IR-28. Does the windscreen look as retarded as it does on the current car from that angle?

>>157170101
I think it's literally the current non-speedway shape but they colored everything between the screen and the duct black on the render to hide that the fishbowl doesn't blend straight into the tub. It only doesn't stick out as much because they made everything behind it bulkier.

At this point Indy and F1 and F2 and whatever other pod racing shitters that keep fucking up their sport with more weight, slower engines, and shit power plants, should all just use the same chassis, different (their own) engine suppliers, and run their races together WEC/IMSA style.

You all bitch and moan about F1, then rave about IMSA etc. I'm with you 100%. I want to see all of the open wheel chassis do a real interclass series with roads, ovals, tracks, and treated like WEC. I think that would be a lot of fun to watch. Different engines, different tires maybe, but all the same chassis. I think it would be great.
>>
>>157169079
2 inches is not significantly narrower you dog fucker.
F1 cars are substantially longer though.
>>
>>157171391
Nope, wrong again. The way Shindy measures track width is not the actual total width of the car.
