>Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is set to leave the club with immediate effect, sources have told BBC Sport.

>Howe came under pressure last season as Newcastle finished 12th in the Premier League after losing 17 of their 38 games.

>The 48-year-old's final match in charge was a 4-1 defeat by Bristol City in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

>Howe replaced Steve Bruce as manager in November 2021, and ended Newcastle's 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy by winning the 2025 Carabao Cup.

>He led the Magpies to Champions League qualification in 2023 and 2025.

I think a lot of players will be, just look at how little they gave a shit in the final match of the season. Howe's favouritism ended him at Bournemouth and it's ended him at Newcastle.

doesn't Newcastle have big oil money now? why can't they get good managers?

Howe's not even really bad. Problem is Newcastle just couldn't attract the talent even with all that oil money. They just get battered every transfer window

No sympathy desu. I used to like Newcastle as a kid too but selling out to the Saudis and seeing your fans embrace it forever soured the club on me and I'm guessing many others

Club owners not backing the manager, manager not backing his players. Feels like we’re no further on than we were 5 years ago, save for a couple of CL exits and a league cup.
Saudis out.

ill miss you eddie

who knew that pouring half a billion pounds into Newcastle will not in fact have the same effect as it did in the cities of London, Manchester, Paris etc.

Location isn't the issue, it's the PSR rules that didn't exist back when Chelsea and City were buying the league

i'd take graham potter over krautgate
>>
He's leaving because he has no control over transfers. We've sold all our blue-chip players and are replacing them with kids in the £20-40m range with lots of resale value. All down to Squad Cost Ratio, specifically designed to fuck over Newcastle and Villa by the "big six".
>>
>>157183498
Thiaw is pretty good, the rest have sucked balls.
>>
>>157185749
I think Woltemade looked good when he was actually played up front. He just needed support that he didn't get.
When Howe stopped playing Woltemade as a striker everything went off the rails but they were doing okay for a while.

Nobody is living in Newcastle unless you pay them twice what the rest of the country is willing to pay. Newcastle arent a big club, Newcastle isnt a great place to live.

So I suppose its a chicken and egg argument. Do players want to play for Newcastle, no. Would they play for them if they pay double, maybe. Will they be off the moment a big club comes in, yes. Even if Newcastle were able to pay double your money contracts, they're never to hold onto their star players. They'll only ever be a stepping stone club.

Another aspect to this you'd probably rather not think about is; saudi are over sports washing. It hasnt worked, the money isnt knocking about anymore. You can blame PSR, but is the enthusiasm there. No. They could be making offshore payments to players, family's, agents, owners, faking sponsorship deals etc everything city and chelsea did, but there enthusiasm just isnt there. You're arguably as bad now as you were under Ashley, while being owned by a state lmao thats tragic. You were better as a proper football club as well, rather than selling yourselves out and playing in green
>>
>>157185581
Don't forget outright cheating.

>>157183533
Mental how Arsenal are shit and 'own PGMOL' yet somehow got to the final of the CL beating Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid (twice, including 4-0), Inter.... Guess they 'own UEFA' too.

>Newcastle isnt a great place to live.
It's pretty good and affordable. It's not some grimy shithole, it's rather beautiful. I just came back from London and that's mostly a dump and about one person in four was white and most of those seemed to be East Europeans. If you're a shallow footballer with millions to burn then yeah the bright lights of London or Manchester are a long way away.
>>
>>157185779
>Newcastle arent a big club
Newcastle United fills a 52000 seat stadium, week in, week out even when crap. They would fill a 70,000 seat stadium easily, there are tens of thousands on the waiting list for season tickets. As for money they are in the top 20 clubs in the world for revenue. If they hadn't been hamstrung by Mike Ashley for 14 years while others spent money like water they would be one of the top clubs in the world. The current financial rules are in place to fuck Newcastle and Villa over.
