Can someone ELI5 whats happening with the FIFA thing and Europe
we got fucking sick of all this water
>>157196646FIFA is supposed to be a not-for-profit org. This is supposed to mean that profits from stuff like the world cup is used to develop the game. In practice, FIFA acts under a patronage system, using profits to bribe poorer nations (who have the same voting power) to consolidate its power.Having just held the world cup in America, FIFA spent the whole time pushing its luck with stuff like ad breaks. Now it has decided to pursue private investment. This means that profits go to investors rather than for the development of the game. Specifically, the investors would be ((americans)) linked to Trump.UEFA have apparently decided that the old style of corruption was one thing, but selling the international game to the Americans is a step too far.
>>157196988I have zero clue sorry, but football is like gazillion dollar industry how come FIFA was a nonprofit or someone believed that, the people in those organizations are probably all mega dirty rich. It might as well be full private or something at that point
>>157196646Gianni Infantino is bald.
>>157197050Well people who work for nonprofit still get paid. Nothing unusual there.
>>157197050Non-profit does not mean it should be managed by hippies who don't care about anything. Rolex is also a non-profit organization; it makes being acquired by a third party very difficult.
>>157197050Nonprofit means there are no "benefits" or company valuation and such. The money made by a nonprofit is meant to be reinvested and not kept or distributed as dividends and such.It does not mean there can't be employees and or that the personel is all volunteer, infact being employed by a nonprofit often comes with tax advantages. But it does mean that you can't levy funds by selling shares to and can't distribute dividends.
>>157197499>>157197430>>157197359Then the term to describe such companies should be "non-dividends", not "non-profit", the latter term has a charitable connotation that such companies don't really have.
>>157197659That's why "nonprofit" and "charities" are separate terms. It's all (((part of the trick)))
>>157197050No no you don’t understand it says “not for profit” so they are good guys ok? Just don’t think about it
>>157197499>>157197430No, I mean, I know that part. My university is private but technically a non-profit as well, but the people in charge are just dirt rich, so what's really the point anyway. It's obviously a mega business at that point and people pretend it's not, which makes it x10 more corrupt
>>1571966465yr olds don't need to know this, go play with your toys.
>>157199148calm down Hitler
>>157197719the fact that you go to a university and yet can't wrap your head around the concept of a non profit organization does not bode well for your futurehow large the employee salaries are has nothing to do with their non profit status, it simply means they're not allowed to pay out profitsinstead they invest it in the organization or donate it, or whatever
The fifa worldcup is already a corporate commercial event and FIFA wants expand sponsorships to bring in additional revenue to develop underdeveloped footballing nations and europe is very mad because of reasons. Not exactly sure, was never really explained how its a bad thing but europe is very mad about it
>>157199234>corporate commercial event
>>157199234>Burger who doesn’t understand ball or how it’s run.Kek.
>>157199278Those are just words for rich white people. Doesnt mean anything and obviously have been lining their pockets this entire time
>>157199234you are a retard and should kill yourself
>>157199295You dont understand your own words either, it seems. This isnt about bringing in new sponsors. Infantino wants to sell stakes of the world cup to a company he will manage alongside jews like the Kushner family.
>>157199328Dont really care about the definitions. My main argument is FIFA has always been corrupt and this would at least bring revenue to the thirdworld even if it doubles their corruptness. Nobody cares just play the games. The game is always going to be bigger than politics
>>157197719You are retarded and probably go to the UP
>>157197050Non profit doesn’t mean it’s a charity
>>157199325Mostly just trolling on my spare time. Can lead to different perspectives and keep thread alive
>>157199388Fifa is already generating huge amounts of money and already give those smaller FAs a lot more money percentage wise than they bring in. Its up to those FAs to spend that money correctly. The majority off this short term gain will flow into the pockets of the Kushners and Infantino, who is expected to increase his wages ten times. There is no positiv for football as a sport here, only potential negatives since selling out means handing over control of the tournament to outside parties instead of FIFA and the FAs within. The fact even your own FA recognizes this should tell you as much.
>>157199388Impossible to argue with someone who refuses to agree to the meanings and definitions and values of such things as words
>>157197224big if true
The purpose of the world cup is to showcase the talent of footballers from all the countries that play football. Beyond that, for the players and to an extent the coaches it is an opportunity to earn prestige, which can influence their individual value. It is not a money making venture, it was never envisioned as such nor will it ever be for the simple fact that the clubs are who pays the wages. The only way for Infantino and the Jews to achieve what they are trying to achieve would unironically be WORLD LEAGUE, but the punters will not accept this unless their clubs are involved. Super League wasn’t going far enough
>>157199388>would at least bring revenue to the thirdworld even if it doubles their corruptness. We know it won't because it has been the excuse to embezzle money through federations or create systems of institutional bribery from the very beginning>it's okay, we're building a training pitch in Akon City for the Wakandan national team, just don't look at how much money landed in the pockets of the Wakandan Football Association president alright, it's probably peanuts anywah and not most of the allocated amountNobody is falling for that excuse anymore.
>>157199402It doesn't mean "non-profit" either, since the organisation is still profiting, as I said here>>157197659, the term should be "non-dividend".
>>157196646Kushner saw amateur level of corruption at FIFA and decided to show Infantino how it should be done. One year as CEO at the commercial scam would probably net Infantino as much as Blatter scammed in his entire presidency.
>>157197430Don't you guys mean private company as opposed to public company with stocks? Calling it non-profit sounds really misleading
>>157197224Some are saying the baldest
>>157199599Not necessarily. 'Private company' is just about any company in the hands of an individual/family (or a private equity company such as Apollo or Blackstone) which is still laser-focused on creating wealth; e. g., Mars, Lego, In-N-Out Burger. Non-profit organizations are meant for enterprises that are businesses but which aren't all about maximising margins/profits and/or expanding. It's more like a 'club.' FIFA is supposed to spend part of its resources on spreading the game of association football, hence the 'charitable' non-profit target. The World Cup was never supposed to be financialized and packaged as some kind of investment vehicle.
>>157200023>FIFA is supposed to spend part of its resources on spreading the game of association football, hence the 'charitable' non-profit targetSo "non-profit" is a useless label that companies apply to make themselves look better. It's similar to oil companies calling themselves "environmentalists" for cleaning up litter from a park one time.
