At the pro level they're lame and gay

At a college level they're more fun because they were usually created eons ago and not for the express purpose of appealing to children

Don't particularly like them, but they can be quite neat from time to time. Just don't shove them everywhere too hard, I guess

I remember when I stopped over in Glasgow going to a Pollok FC and a fan's dog was their official mascot. I patted him on the head and it was a nice experience.
