I genuinely still can't believe he just disappeared like that in his final game. He had 5 touches in the entire match. Compare this to his efforts against Egypt and England when they were behind, he went insane and created a shitload of chances, and literally crossed the ball into the box every 30 seconds. But not against Spain. He just went completely missing. I have never seen anything like that. Going into the final, he had actually played his best World Cup ever, scoring 8 goals AND making 4 assists, which is completely unreal for a 39yo. I hope he still plays in 2030, he actually has the skills to do so, and he was Argentina's best player by far. Some would say only Dibu even came close. But it was just so anti climatic. Argentina played with so much passion in their previous matches, and it was all just gone. You could see how frustrated the players were that nothing worked with all the fouls they made.
Against Egypt he was utter shit and even missed a fake penalty, without the ball he was literally non existent and part of the reason why Argentina went behind to begin with. only showed up when our players -who are desperately unfit Egyptian league shitters- got gassed and stopped trying. didn't see the England game but I imagine it was similar
