imo the payday argument for PNG is overblown. Consider that if you’re on $500k in Australia you pay ~45% tax which means you net $225k which is plenty to live on and look after yourself and your family and your great-grandchildren if you’re not extremely unlucky or stupid, if you earn that much over 7 years for example. You also get to live in Australia or Auckland. It’s enough. I get that some blokes will want to go there to make some extra money but at a certain threshold you’ve made enough and it isn’t necessary, it won’t improve your lifestyle it’ll only give you more money to buy more expensive (overpriced) things with. Also PNG aren’t going to be tax free for more than ten years, if not sooner, it’s a lot of money not going to the government treasury to be used to build better infrastructure and buy bullets to shoot rascals

Do a cheeky experiment here and host it in the same area as the Koori Knockout is (Newcastle this year) >Saturday State Championships (Men and Women) This game gets little to no attention on Grand Final day so I just moved it to the day before and make it it's own thing. I'm including the winners of the state women's competitions too even they it might be tricky considering the NSW competition starts earlier. I’ve had a nap and now I reckon we have all the women’s stuff on Saturday and then on Sunday have the u20’s/23’s followed by the state championship and then the nrl gf. That’s enough because there’s nothing else that’ll draw a crowd for Friday and the indigenous game should be at the beginning of preseason the weekend after the nines, charity shield on the third weekend of preseason. If they really want something for the Friday night they need to bring in pro/rel and we can have a billion dollar game or something, and the curtain raiser will be city/country (crl rep team vs sydney metro rep team)
