Ciben Wakayama (智弁和歌山) is a private school from Wakayama Prefecture. Chiben is a Koshien juggernaut, with them making the tournament almost every single year. They have qualified 45 times and won 4 times, most recently in summer 2021 where they famously beat their sister school Chiben Gakuen in the final.

Been having way more fun watching Koushien than NPB. Deadball era is just too much. Was watching the Fighters vs. Lions between games and it was 0-0 with 1 hit for the longest time. If the lockout happens and NPB still has a product like that (the only other competitive game today was Dragons vs BayStars, the rest were blowouts), it'll be a massive もったいない. The pace of play in this tournament has been perfect even without a pitch clock, 2 disengagement limit and no 3 batter rule. The quality of play from the good teams is also high enough. Will be interested in how DH changes things long-term and how soon they adopt ABS after the Tigers get it installed.

The introduction of ABS only helps TTO players draw more walks, so my prediction is NPB will need to give the balls more juice to motivate swinging instead of just fouling everything off.
As a viewing product, you need the games to have more tension between fielding/running and pitching/slugging instead of everything being one or the other.

Hanasaki Tokuharu (花咲徳栄) is a private school from Saitama Prefecture. This is Hanasaki Tokuharu’s 15th appearance at Koshien. The school won Koshien once, in Summer 2017, but hasn't been able to replicate that success since then. Hanasaki Tokuharu has served as the inspiration for the baseball manga, 'Draft King' which feature fictional versions of the school.

Kendai Takasaki (健大高崎) is a private school from Gunma Prefecture. Kendai has been without a doubt the strongest team in Gunma since the early 2010s.
