Where does they rank among the best football clubs of all time? In the top 3?
>>
>>157322116
AC Milan of the late eighties, with Baresi, Maldini, Costacurta, Gullit and van Basten, were arguably the greatest club side ever. But clubs wane and AC certainly did since Berlusconi quit. The answer depends when you ask, but Top10 for sure.
>>
>>157322116
They are not even top 10 out of the European clubs lmao
>>
>>157322169
Yeah now.
OP said 'all time' tbf.
>>
>>157322169
I don’t think you can name ten better clubs in terms of all-time greatness. The blatant top three are Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. After that, it’s probably Man Utd and Liverpool. Then come the Italian teams, so AC Milan are undeniably a top-ten team of all time, ranked somewhere between fourth and eighth.
>>
1 real madrid
2 liverpool
3 milan
4 bayern
5 barca
>>
>>157322185
There are plenty of South American clubs greater than Milan.
>>157322481
not in order
real madrid, barca, liverpool, man utd, arsenal, bayern, ajax, celtic, porto, benfica, juventus, inter, marseille, bilbao...just to name a few ;)
>>
>>157322169
They definitively are. Unfortunately they became irrelevant after their 2007 CL win
>>
>>157322116
Not 3 anymore, but definitely top 10
>>
>>157323002
>celtic
lol.
lmao, even.
>>
>>157322116
They are tough to rank and file since they've been quite ass for quite a while now. It's also interesting in general since they have the 2nd-most CLs after Real, but are not Italian record champion, not even close. And also not the club with the most Italian cups
Real is first. Then I suppose you could put Milan in a triumvirate together with Bayern and Liverpool, perhaps also Barca? But by now, you could also put them behind that. But then they'd be on par with United, maybe Juventus, Inter, some others. Despite having 7 CLs. It's tricky. But by now, I don't think of them as equal with Bayern and Liverpool anymore. Both will equal and eclipse 7 CLs as well at some point

If they sustained success after the end of the Pirlo/Seedorf/Kaka/Shevchenko era I'd consider them #2 all time but they didn't unfortunately so I'll drop them to #3

Madrid
Bayern
Milan
Barca
Liverpool
Arsenal
Inter
Juventus
PSG
Ajax

Yeah bro I'm sure Panchito Newberry AS, who won the Narcotrafico 60 times against part time FARC rebels are greater than the club of fucking Maldini, Baresi, Rivera, Van Basten, Nesta and Kaka

I know North American costumers are all eurocentrist basic bitches when it comes to football but the greatest talent ever to play in Europe all came from South America and prior to the Bosman ruling most of that talent stayed here in our leagues. I don't care if your knowledge doesn't go beyond narcos tv series you're just spouting ignorance because le italian 1 team career aura farmers have big names. No one rates Maldini over Roberto Carlos

All you Billy Joes need to cream your pants is a good looking Italian guy named Guiseppe or some shit like that that played for only one club his whole 20 year long career and lifted 1 or 2 cups. That isn't real football that's a movie. You like fiction not sports

Football was dominated by >us the first half of the 20th century then by Brazil the second half. It wasn't until yuros opened the door for foreigners and started pumping hundreds of millions into the sport that they just now got ahead. The GOAT conversation is between 3 South Americans. Real Madrid's greatest legend was an Argentinian, Barcelona's greatest legend was another Argentinian. It's not an accolades thing it's just a fact. You go position by position and the GOAT of every position sans goalkeeper it's a south american everytime

This thread is about clubs, not individuals
>>
>>157326133
he thinks Uruguay dominated football because Nacional flew over to Europe in 1925 and won a bunch of friendlies touring the continent, i'm not even kidding. the dino thing isn't a meme, they really do live 100 years in the past to this day.
>>

behind Madrid, Man United, Liverpool, Barcelona
>>
>>157326133
Peñarol with 1% of AC Milan's funding won the same amount of international cups, against better opposition and actually beating Real Madrid in some finals too

>>157326154
No, Serbian reject, I think Uruguay dominated international football in the first half of the 20th century because we won the 1924 Olympics, the 1928 Olympics, the 1930 world cup and the 1950 world cup. Yes these are all old achievements because the first half of the 20th century began 126 years ago and ended 76 years ago. From 1900 till 1950 no other country can claim to have won more than us. It's not living in the past, it's a statement. Croatia on the other hand were probably hunter gatherers in the first half of the 1950s
>>
Running away from an angry Serb was Croatia's national sport since it's conception till now, that's why you did so poorly in football until your Modrics your Perisics your Manzukics etc
>>
Americans raved for 100 years about some fat hitter that once pointed where the ball was going to go in the 1920s but if we want to remind everybody we whoop all your asses after a month long boat trip, we're suddenly dinosaurs. Fuck that today I will remind them

by golly, the English propaganda!

1. Madrid (numbers)
2. Bayern (league+peak)
3. Milan (peaks)
4. Barca (players+peak)
5. Ajax (players+peak)
6. South Americans (Boca, Santos etc)
7. Juventus (leagues)
8. Lpool/Al Ahly
9. PSG/Inter/United
10. Benfica

*peak = legendary XIs
*players and leagues are obvious
*Egyptian Al Ahly
*Lpool are boosted by clearly being the best among the English, unlike in other countries where league, cup and continental dominance is split between different teams

Dont let recency bias fool you. The records are there.

BASED negro Andrade
Your people were probably sacrificing goats to the gypsy god of rain while my forward thinking nation had blacks in its starting 11 a hundred years before your oh so modern minded European nations. Just looked it up Croatia didn't have a president back then, it had a literal 'peasant leader', that was the man's title. A peasant leader in the 20th century bro come on you got out of the middle ages 500 years late
>>
If you went to Croatia with shoes on in 1950 people wouldve thought you were a time traveler
>>
I’m here to say that European Cups (now known as Champions Leagues) from the period 1955-1997 were only open for the respective league champions from each nation, any wins post ‘97-98 season should not be weighted as heavily because they were easier to qualify for and since 1991 easier to win with the group stage format. Exception would be if the club won their league to qualify for the CL, and then in the CL won the cup without losing a match.
This also means that UEFA cups need to be weighted differently as they became easier to qualify for and therefore win
>>
>>157322116
They're not better than Juve just because they won some cups, the league is the ultimate measure, nothing beats domestic dominance

In January 1997, the "Mani Pulite" investigation on Italian politics certified a transfer of 22 billion lire of slush funds from Fininvest's secret safe owned by Silvio Berlusconi and called "All Iberian" to a foreign account held by politician Bettino Craxi. This discovery caused a widening of the investigation that brought to light, after a series of rogatory letters, a system of pyramid transfers of illegal money in favor of AC Milan players: as much as 122.5 billion lire (61 million Euros) passed into the current accounts located in several tax havens of some Rossoneri players in the 1991-1994 period

The total of slush funds rose to 190 billion lire (95 million Euros), considering the years up to 1997. In summary, for the three Scudetto seasons of Capello's Milan, 20 million Euros were annually paid out illegally as extra salaries to Milan's players: all, of course, tax-free. The cover is one of Fininvest's countless fake companies, the "News and Sport Time", that was supposed to take care of the players' image rights, but it never happened

Money was paid to the players but the puppet companies did not then "use" the players for advertising means. That money, which went out the door, would come back in the window to the athletes' account, as additional but "tax-free" compensation. Fun fact: the names on the slush funds list would be coded using the last two letters of the players' first and last name. Stefano Eranio for example would thus become "Noio."

Ranking of emoluments paid to Milan players through slush funds: Van Basten 42.645 billion lire, Gullit 18.271 billion, Lentini 25.880 billion, Rijkaard 8 billion, Papin 4.889 billion, Baresi 4.500 billion, Maldini 4.355 billion, De Napoli 1.297 billion, Panucci 1.177 billion, Eranio 760 million, Tassotti 520 million, Savicevic 441 million

The All Iberian trial ended on 22 November 2000, when Corte di Cassazione declared Silvio Berlusconi's acquittal due to the statute of limitations of the offense
>>
>>157328375
>trial
That's at least one trial more than City's 115 charges ever brought. That Berlusconi was a dodgy rug seller, it's not exactly news. This was still pre FFP and more a tax dodge than sporting rules contravention. And it still doesn't distract from the fact that Milan team were one of the greatest club sides ever. There's people above mentioning Marseilles ffs. Who literally bribed refs to cheat their way to their only title of note, which should (by rights) have been rescinded.

you're not much different from the fans on the other side of milan, the ones represented by people carrying a lupara. but clearly, you left the moral qualms behind the moment you boarded the dinghy to flee the balkans just to breathe some 'civilized world' air

When I was a kid the biggest teams in football were Milan, Juve, Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern and Man United. Nowadays new gen football fans see them on the same level as a Spurs or Dortmund, it's a shame.

The Milan clubs had a natural decline.
Most tragic cases were Juventus who shot themselves in the foot by changing their logo and buying a washed up Penaldo, and then Man United who became a laughing stock because of retarded owners.

Top kek
You are assblasted. You from the colonies are not in a situation where you try to mock someone from Europe. Both Uruguayan titles are a farce, especially in '50. The final overshadowed the fact that you reached the final 4 by beating Bolivia, which was your ONLY opponent in the group. Lol. Croatia was then part of Yugoslavia, half of the team/best players were Croats. We beat all opponents in the group except Brazil, but they gave us an offside goal and in the second half we played with a player who had a concussion so he didn't even remember the game. What I want to say is that Croatia has always had top players. It is irrational to expect that we will suddenly stop having it. After '50, Uruguay did not win a single medal at the World Cup. 2 semi-finals in 76 years. Very, very bad. This for the peasants, that was the name of the party and not a 'title', and this with the shoes is ridiculous. Croatia is a country of the old world, located between Rome and Constantinople, then the two most powerful and richest cities in the world, and you are the descendant of someone poor or a convict. If your ancestors had been rich, they wouldn't have moved to the end of the world.
