Subaru and Mitsubishi get your asses back in WRC.Nissan idk lol. unfuck yourselves.
>>157387482I guess we have different views on best, i think the Rx-7 has much more lasting power as a recognizable car among people and was also competitive and winning races for a longer period of time. >>157387612>i think the Rx-7 has much more lasting power as a recognizable car among peopleyou're not wrong, but this is motor/sp/ort and not /o/.
to me, production cars are only cool if they win on the track, or the rally stage. otherwise they are just transportation appliances. like a refrigerator.
increase the production requirements. bring back mass-produced homologation specials like the Skyline GT-R, Impreza WRX, Lancer Evolution. force the manufacturers to make cool cars for the road if they want to win in racing. fuck all this SUV slop.

>>157385866Congratulations on the new job, anon. Sucks you gotta miss races. You should keep looking until you can find a job where you are off weekends.
>>157386568Ford winning Cup and especially that IndyCar race really made the weekend a success. Despite being a turbo slurper at the beginning, an unfamiliar track and Palou starting so far back allowed us to have a mad scramble for positions all over the feild, competetive front runners including a Coyne near victory on strategy with Grosjean of all people and a late race dash to the front for a last minute win, even if it was Ericsson. You really couldn't ask for much more.
>>157387825I know its just your usual zeroIQ baitYou cry for more production based championships, then you will come back here to cry that all your favourite championships switched to race suvs and EV-s, because due to the production requirements, the manufacturers lobbied out rules which align with their production goalsAutosport does not have that leverage than 30 years ago. Now the same amount of car sold by some clever tik tok celebrity endorsement as motorsport programs. Already 30 years ago the wishes of manufacturers dominated rulemaking. If you try to strongarm manufacturers you will remain with none lol in your championshipWhen not even fjuan has the leverage to force manufacturers to do something they dont really want, no other can

>>157395011>who speaks Japanesewhy does that matter? have you heard any interviews with Ohta? he's perfectly fluent in English.
>>157395051I get you’re pulling for him but if Honda was going to toss him in a car before 2028 they wouldve already silenced the chatter on the 66. With Schumacher, Yuki, someone with payroll, all gunning for the seat, if I’m MSR, Yuki is the perfect bridge driver. Come 2028 Honda will have their own charter, who knows what CGR decides to do with their alliance, and gives MSR an edge with a potential Honda factory alliance, having a Japanese driver. I understand he speaks English but why not have a fellow Japanese driver in the series for easier dissection of data, and the only way to do that is over two years with the charters.
>>157395192does Tsunoda even have Honda backing anymore?
I like Yuki Tsunoda, his English is good and he had a good attitude about running dirt late models with Zilisch and SVG on one of the Red Bull challenge videos.

Now featuring less intersections, more cut down trees, and not even attempting to hide the likelihood the race ends up at The Bend anyways.>that runoff at the second chicane aligned to the road instead of the track layoutjej. I also like how turn 3 has more runoff than the rest of the track combined sitting on top of where the current paddock is.
>>157395320No but someone rich will cover a year of him at MSR. Honda isn’t willing to sponsor a car outright one year removed from having their own team.
>gimmie>>157392744zilly is chevy's pet project, so it makes sense to put him in the factory team before he gets frustrated and either ford or the cheatin' yoders snatches him, the interesting part now is what will hms do with day, put him in a spire car? end the experiment and send him back to the dirt tracks or larson finally snaps and retires with day taking over the 5?
>>157394003VIR can 100% run GTP, so could Lime Rock even. It's only GT only because it's in the middle of nowhere, it's not owned by the France family, and it's not Road America. >>157397874What? He's literally talking about the current Mustang. He called it a "threat from below".https://de.motorsport.com/allgemeines/news/ford-mustang-gt3-und-toyota-gr-gt3-stephane-ratel-sehr-besorgt-22031101/8893084/>He sees the same danger at the Mustang: "The next car on which the GT3 Ferrari will be based [the 296 GTB] costs, if I'm not mistaken, on the American market 280,000 dollars. A Mustang costs 28,000 dollars in America, which is exactly ten percent. He is not talking about 20 years ago.
>>157397893>He's literally talking about the current Mustang. He called it a "threat from below".finebut you both are still wrong about Toyota which he didn't see too cheap i.e. "pleb" but too expensiveand the danger that is for the class' existence, not him seething that car beats another, that's the schizo shit
>>157397934Not really. Yes, he warned about the GR GT3 being like the MC12 and the Ford GT of the past, but the OP was right that Ratel looks down on certain brands. I don't think the guy who makes comments like>Ratel refers here to the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), with which he once collaborated on the "Super Racing Weekend". "It started beautifully with Alfa Romeo and BMW. Then converted Chevrolets started winning races, and one got out. In the end, they arrived at Lada, and that was the end.">“I used to say, GT3 is like the platinum dome of the most prestigious manufacturers and iconic models. I think we have taken a bit of a risk by allowing cars that are neither iconic nor very prestigious,”And all the comments he made about the Mustang across multiple interviews thinks too highly of Toyota, the company best known for the the Corolla, Yaris and Hilux. So no, it's not schizo shit. The OP was literally on the money about 2 of the 3 brands he cited, based on Ratel's own words. At most he won't hate the GR GT for being based on a cheap model.
>>157397985>Yes, he warned about the GR GT3 being like the MC12 and the Ford GT of the pastthank you for agreeingyou can go and have a cry about his real or imagined feelings now
>>157398157Why are you like this? Are you 12? The guy talked about how Ratel looks down on certain brands and that's correct, I posted several articles where he does just that, specifically for Ford and Chevy, two of the three brands he mentioned. You struggled to even understand the first article I posted and tried to spin it, just so you can "win" an online argument that started because you just called someone a buzzword without even attempting to disprove his point. You are everything that is wrong with this site in its current state. >>157397985You're ignoring that Chevy in WTCC wasn't the Chevy in NASCAR or drag racing even, it was a Korean shitbox brand in those markets. The Lacetti/Optra was a 12k car in Canada.Shitstangs are the inevitable result of the "just bop it lul" mindset, GT3 lives under the constant existential threat of memes like "FIAT Punto GT3" becoming real which makes them sensitive to going too far outside of cars that would exist in a real GT class.

>>157397893>A Mustang costs 28,000 dollars in America$33,000 and that's the turbo 4 cylinder. A proper V8 Mustang GT is about $46,000, which is an automotive steal when you consider a Miata is $30k and a new Corvette is $80k (good luck gettinga new one under $100k). It's actually a pretty decent car with a nice motor, good gear box and an acceptable independent rear suspension. They aren't a lot of new cars on the market I'd rather have besides the exotics he is comparing it to. The thing is, it doesn't compete with their performance. They had to drastically change the Mustand GTD so much it's a different car. The street version is somewhere around $328,000, if you can get them tonsell you one, so it can't be argued that its a poorfag car. The problem is that they didn't take the Mustang GT and modify it. They made a race car and then made a street version a.k.a. It's a homologation special, which is the opposite of what GT3 started out as and at least part of what keeps killing sports car racing.

They aren't a lot of new cars on the market I'd rather have besides the exotics he is comparing it to.I agree with this for the most part. I have a friend that has one with some mods, and they have a good bit of power. They're really fucking big though, but that's just the way things have progressed for just about all cars.
>He sees the same danger with the Mustang: "The next car on which the GT3 Ferrari will be based [the 296 GTB] costs, if I'm not mistaken, $280,000 on the American market. A Mustang costs $28,000 in America, that's exactly ten percent."He's acting as though the GTD is the same as a base model Ecoboost but ok>"If you were to put a Mustang and a Ferrari on the track, this car would have no chance of beating the Ferrari. Using Balance of Performance here is a distortion and a complete abuse of the concept of Balance of Performance."He's grossly misinformed about what cars like the GTD or Cobra Jet can do but ok>The Balance of Performance (BoP) was introduced to equalize vehicles, but only those from a similar price and prestige class. "The moment you overdo it and push it to the point where a car costing only ten percent of the money can beat another car, I don't know how much longer the renowned manufacturers will be around. Because I don't think they'll find it very amusing to be beaten by that kind of car."Are we really going to BoP around what street cars' base models cost? That's idiotic. He seems upset that Ford is able to get more marketing juice from the squeeze that is GT3 competition because OBVIOUSLY the more basic street cars are cheap. He's literally bitching that GT3 isn't just exotics from "Exclusive" euro marques.
Mustang GT3 is homologated from a Datk Horse, the GTD is just a marketing tie in/Chevy jealousy vanity program

I don't get city coursesI understand SpaI understand The RingI understand the TTI understand Ralli FinlandI have yet to understand the appeal of a single city circuit. Monaco. That one Osaka circuit that keeps getting pushed. Detroit. Etc.

>>157434295>Yes you can turn laps around Spa, but how would it fare in real life???That's basically the justification, in spirit, its actually closer to the origins of road racing, when they used to block off public roads and race down them. They're also all incredibly popular and people go to them. And my main complaint with street course is that the course are usually shoved out of the way, by an airport, stadium or some industrial sector. This race is at least where the big stuff is in town.
>>157434295Why do you think there's an appeal, it's just a way to make the taxpayers foot the bill for millionaires
>>157434267you have to ask? DC has consistently had some of the worst crime rates in the whole country since the 70s.
>>157434434Surr, but like I know where that happens. The last time anyone in my family went to DC, it was my Great, Great Grandfather after the battle of Antietam.
>>157434354I can't speak for the majority of street circuits but at least in F1 the majority have been in 'scenic' parts of the town in question. Monaco is self explanatory, Singapore is right through the party district, Albert Park is around some historic parkland, Baku is right through the old town fort, Las Vegas is right down the strip past the casinos.. the same can be said for a lot of the historic ones too like Pedralbes and Montjuic. the only ones that were in industrial parks were the shitty events that sprung up in the 80s that rarely held more than 2-3 races like Dallas and Phoenix. 'stadium parking lot grand prix' was more of a CART problem, something like half of all the tracks CART raced at was places like Cleveland airport and Astrodome Park.
