Mourinho's revisionism in that documentary is hilarious. He basically begged for the job when Madrid went out to Man U in the CL in 2013 Jose talked about how amazing Man U were and how they didn't deserve to lose (I think Nani got sent off?) Arsenal play well when their opponents have no in-game solutions. Maresca gave them a free ride yesterday, but it won’t happen every week.

Xabi Alonso is one of the best tacticians when it comes to finding solutions during games. He has a Plan A, B and C.

Arteta has just one approach, and when it fails, Arsenal are in trouble with no real solution. This gives me confidence that Alonso will dominate the Premier League.
>>

Chelsea fans used to call for Pep Guardiola's Manchester City to stop Arsenal, but now it's Manchester City fans who will be begging Xabi Alonso's Chelsea to stop Arsenal.

It's funny how the tables turn. It's now going to be a two-horse race in the PL between Arteta and Alonso.

Everyone knows who will be the winner. Of course, it's going to be Alonso. Chelsea don't mess around with the money; they see a trophy.

Enzo Maresca will chase all Manchester City fans to Barcelona. It was Guardiola who made City an attractive and winning powerhouse.
>>
I get it now, Enzo Maresca is allowing Arsenal to win the Community Shield and mark the end of Arsenal winning trophies ever again.

Mikel Arteta might be celebrating winning this useless plate, but I have a feeling he’s going to finish outside the top four in the Premier League.
>>
I have seen enough, and I think we should start the conversation about Wesley Fofana and William Saliba.

Fofana has world-class potential. Someone like Saliba has been made to look good by Gabriel Magalhães, and he’s just an average CB.

Fofana is going to be massive for Chelsea in their push to win the Premier League this season.

Do you not remember that complete disaster a few years ago when they closed the window before the season started? It sounded great until every other notable league kept theirs open so PL players were being bought and it was impossible to replace them.
Not sure why UEFA don't set open and closing times when they meddle in everything else.
>>
>>157390487
Everybody keeps saying this but forget Saliba is out for 6 months, minimum. There is no way they can keep as many clean sheets as they did without him. Even if they somehow sign Konsa, it will still be more losses. White is good but is made of glass, so as soon as he is injured (he WILL get injured) they're fucked because their Saliba replacement (Mosquera) now has to play RB. Gabriel now either has to shift to RCB and Hincapie has to go into LCB and Calafiori on LB and then Calafiori gets injured (he WILL get injured) and that means MLS now has to move to LB or Hincapie and then Gabriel back to LCB and Salmon to RCB (who is shit).

That's ignoring the fact they still have huge amounts of deadwood. Nelson, Vieria, Jesus. All needs to go. Madueke is terrible so Saka is the only good RW they have. Dowman and Nwaneri are memes and the latter probably will go. LW looked alright but neither are top tier in that position.

Their only world class players are Rice and Raya and maybe Gabriel. So, no, I don't think they'll walk it. They need another striker, another RW, another LW, another CB and RB. If they don't sign a senior CB (who can also play RB) then they're fucked. If I was Farteta I'd buy a CB that can play RB and a RB that can play CB. Move White on because despite his ability he is made of glass. I'd move on Jesus and the other dross. Then go for Kofane or something.
>>

>>157390769
>Everybody keeps saying this but
i just assume they are trying to jinx them (which i approve of dont get me wrong)
>>
>>157390777
Superstitious nonsense. All it takes is injuries and you can be walking the league and then lose it. Arsenal were gonna win the league 2-3 years ago but Saliba damaged his back in a pointless CL game and they lost like 5 of the 9 remaining games because they had Calum Chambers at CB. So this idea you can say a team is going to walk the league or will win it even with 10 games remaining is daft because single injuries can ruin entire runs. Same as year before last they lost Saka and suddenly couldn't score for toffee so dropped points.

>Chelsea have brought Jorge Mendes into the Enzo Fernández situation to help accelerate the midfielder’s departure, according to AS. Mendes does not officially represent Enzo — that role belongs to former Argentina international Javier Pastore — but the Portuguese super-agent has been in contact with Pastore and has been tasked by Chelsea’s sporting hierarchy with helping facilitate a potential transfer.

>Mendes was also involved behind the scenes when Chelsea signed Enzo from Benfica in 2023, and co-owner Behdad Eghbali is reportedly keen for him to play a role in his exit as well.

>Despite Chelsea publicly insisting that Enzo was “not for sale”, AS reports that internally the club have considered selling him since the end of last season. Manchester City remain strongly interested and are expected to reopen negotiations after an initial verbal proposal worth around €120m was rejected, with Chelsea valuing the midfielder at approximately €140m

But Chelsea signed Garnacho for £40m, was absolute dogshit, six year contract, sold to Villa for £50m with 5 years left.

>The club could present an offer of up to €50 million, including bonuses, in the coming days. The offer would include €35 million guaranteed, payable in three installments until 2028, with an additional €15 million in bonuses linked to Süper Lig titles, Fernandes's individual performances, and the club's European campaign. President Dursun Özbek is reportedly personally overseeing the deal. Galatasaray is also ready to offer Bruno Fernandes a four-year contract with a net annual salary of €21 million and a €4 million signing bonus. The Turkish tax regime would almost double his current net earnings. Manchester United reportedly has no intention of selling Bruno Fernandes and considers him essential to their project, with the club and Michael Carrick firmly opposed to his departure. A release clause of €65 million is reported to have expired last month

Sure, which is why I reckon about 15th could be accurate. They've had terrible pre-season results before too, I remember that absolute rogering they got at Leyton Orient in 2009 (a 6-1 defeat) that had everyone predicting a relegation fight in the Championship, only for them to win 102 points

>After City lost 2-0 against Liverpool in December 2024. Guardiola is naming individuals who should have done better at certain moments and addresses how Walker lost possession.

>“You keep saying my name in every meeting and every fucking thing,” Walker answers back. “Every f***ing meeting, it’s my name.”

>Guardiola responds by saying, “Maybe because you’re a captain.”

>“You didn’t want me to be a captain,” Walker replies. “I’ve reacted to someone else, I lost the ball, you somehow bring my name into it.”

>Guardiola then tears up as he gives his thoughts to the team — this was around a fortnight before he tells them about his divorce following the game in Turin.

>“This is my defeat — if I am a problem you have to tell me. I won’t stay here for the money or for the fact just to stay, I don’t want to feel that I have to run away from you.

>“If I am a problem, tell me. That is not going to change the love I have for you, not one second.”

Enzo is a really good player but dollars to donuts he's not the best fit for the ways Xabi likes to play. There are better options out there and I challenge anyone that disagrees with me to state their case

They're banking on Bald Energy. The idea that Maresca looks sorta like Pep so maybe the retards in City will think it's Pep. But his cope statements after being battered by Arse were cringe. Claiming his team wasn't the strongest (and Arsenal not having Saliba, Timber or Rice starting is? Fucking MLS? Lmao) and 'World Cup fatigue' (which, granted, is true, but Arsenal were only a few mins behind City in total mins played at the WC). Come on man.

You'll win the league and possibly a double but don't do Slott/Klopp tier excuses.

Man City will give Maresca time. They're not a sacking club like Chelshit, Liverpoo or Tran U.

It’s really amazing how those Arabs and their money managed to keep Pep for a decade. Pep is a football man. Somewhere inside, he must know that his victories with City mean almost nothing compared to his days at Barca. The fact that Spurs/United were willing to lose a match to prevent Arse/Liverpool from winning the league should tell him that nobody really cared about City. He also often complained about City supporters not showing up at the stadium, even for FA cup semi. I guess the only thing keeping him going was his rivalry with Klopp, and once it was over, it was over
>>
>>157398579
They will, until Kompany is available. It'd take Maresca doing a Spurs to get sacked. I can't see them NOT winning anything this year, either. Arsenal are shit without Saliba and despite this very obvious pressing need for defenders they're three days away from their opener and 10 days from end of the window. Mental, really.

I think the 'Fans would rather City won than any of their rivals because nobody cares' did hurt him. I think the 115 then added insult to injury and the length it has taken (we're at, what, 2 years since the end of the actual proceedings and yet still no decision) he realised he could have his shit tainted worse, so it was better to leave. >Also what did Oxford do to get blasted like that?
There are different rules in League One regarding squad costs:

>Oxford will be unable to register new players in the current window because they are not compliant with the EFL's salary cost management protocol (SCMP) regulations.

>SCMPs are the financial fair play rules for all League One and League Two clubs, setting limits on the proportion of a club's turnover and funding that can be spent on player-related costs.

>"Following relegation and with rule changes, the club have been working to align their financial position with the reporting requirements of League One," Oxford said in a statement.

The etymology of the word "manage" has nothing to do with "aging". The word originally stems from the Latin word "manizare", which in turn stems from the Latin word for hand (manus). So basically it just means "to handle". And the English word's most recent ancestor would be the Old French word "manège" which referred to handling and training horses specifically.

https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/introducing-cobham-next-gen
>From the start of the 2026/27 season, Chelsea's Under-21s and Under-19s squads will be known as Cobham Next Gen (CNG)

>The new name more accurately reflects the age profile of our leading Academy side and Chelsea's long-standing heritage of developing the next generation of players for the senior game. While the squad competed in Premier League 2 as an Under-21s side, its average age last season was closer to that of an Under-18s group, with several players as young as 16 years old featuring regularly.

>Cobham Next Gen also better fits the role of the squad within the Academy. It recognises a group of young players with momentum, taking the next step in their development - the final one in the pathway to senior football - competing at a higher level as they continue their journey through Cobham towards the men's team.

>The introduction of Cobham Next Gen also strengthens the Academy's identity. More than an age-group name, it represents the players progressing through Cobham and the opportunities available to them as they continue their development towards the men's game.

>This new identity reflects the distinction of Chelsea’s Academy as a unique footballing environment with its own history, culture and proven record of developing players for the highest level of the game.

Bizarre rebranding

>That is a much more significant share of the club, while there is also an option for the consortium to buy a controlling stake in the Premier League side, as per the terms of their agreement with FSG, in the next 12 months.

>Arsenal has submitted a €90 million offer to Galatasaray for Victor Osimhen. According to journalist Serdar Ali Çelikler, the Arsenal board has approved this proposal to strengthen their attacking options for the new season. Victor Osimhen is interested in the possibility of playing in the Premier League and is open to a transfer to the London club. Negotiations between Arsenal and Galatasaray are advancing in a positive manner. The outcome is dependent on the final decision of the Turkish management and an agreement being reached on personal terms. Victor Osimhen is under contract with Galatasaray until June 2029 and earns an annual salary of €18,750,000 in Turkey.
This would be a worse signing than Shevchenko. Despite their best defender (not according to FIFA ratings apparently) being out for most of the season they are going for ANOTHER attacker instead of going for Coulibaly, Konsa, Seys, Quansah, Ramón, Jeltsch... Literally dozens of defensive options.

>>157399452
Yeah. Arsenal won't sign anybody else. There is literally nothing of note for them. As for United? I can't see anything concrete either but I think they have a couple of 'panic' buys to go for, so I am convinced they will buy at least one more. Chelsea? Not sure. City will get Bouaddi and will bid £130m for Fernandez but they will do it on Monday so Chelsea struggle to get anybody else. Liverpool will probably get Barcola and Mdyie or however it is spelled for like £200m~. Spurs will get Gapko to help Pool fund that.

It's about £300k (€360k) per week. Can't actually see any reason for this kind of media stuff. He has few years on his contract, he's getting paid a fair amount, so I don't see anything but his agent trying to get a pay day.
>>
>>157399436
I think they figured out that while a good defence is important, you need excellent goal scorers to actually change the game. And since they won the league, they're probably going to be a bit more relaxed about the former.
Plus they're already used to subbing in midfielders as fullbacks and they've got like a billion midfielders.
>>
>>157399436
Mosquera was alright for them last season at CB, and they've got a kid from the academy who looked promising in preseason. And it's going to be difficult to convince any decent CB to sign for Arsenal when they know they'll be getting benched for Gabriel + Saliba in all the big cup/league matches towards the end of the season.

Then again, if they signed Konsa or Quansah, they'd probably be forced to eventually start getting most of their minutes at RB. And that could be good for England in the near future, since Tuchel will refuse to bring a proper RB again.

The issue is that Timber is out for 2 more months and Saliba is out for potentially the season. Timber is already broken because of his ACL on his debut. White is constantly injured so they have no right-sided centre back back-up or RB back-up. If Konsa or Quansah signed they would be at least starting for six months and possibly the entire season. But even if they wouldn't want to, there are plenty of alternatives they could go for. Bremer at Juventus, for example. JJ aren't in the CL. Bremer would be playing next to Gabriel. Or Debast from Sporting. Or Quaresma from Sporting. Rodríguez from Celta Vigo. Or Araújo from Benfica. Or Mourino from Villarreal.

>Telegraph Sport reported in March that two Brentford footballers had intervened after seeing the incident in Richmond while travelling home from a match against Leeds United.

>A court heard that David Wheeler, 63, was left with a black eye when Schade and Janelt defended Israel Ilesanmi, a Nigerian security guard, in the early hours of the morning.

>Wheeler, a pharmaceutical van driver who had drunk “about seven” cans of beer, had targeted Ilesanmi because he thought he was a lookout for burglars. He had filmed Ilesanmi, called him a “c---” and said: “You’re not English. Why are you here? What are you looking for?”

>As Schade and Janelt intervened, Wheeler also turned on them. Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court heard that he told the players “f--- off, German f------ pricks”.

>He also claimed he had only used the language “under duress”. As reported by Central News, deputy district judge Luis Williamson told Wheeler that duress requires a “very high bar” like “having a gun to your head”.

>When police arrived on the night, Wheeler claimed to be the victim of an assault and phone theft. He also told police that he did not know Ilesanmi was a security guard and that his memory was “blurry”.

>Wheeler was fined a month’s wages at £1,699, including £150 compensation to Ilesanmi.

But with soccer, there's only 15 clubs worth watching, and less than half are in the Premier League. Bundesliga is my favorite but I don't really follow league ball. Too drawn out, 8 months, no playoffs. It's pretty dumb. To top of off, from Sept to Feb we are all focused on the NFL in the States.
