If Scottish football merged into English football, Celtic and Rangers would be Crystal Palace-tier, including the many seasons Crystal Palace spent in the second tier. Every other Scottish team would be League One at best, and the seasons where one of them actually does well, like Hearts, would just be replaced by a season where they get 100 points in a season against Plymouth Argyle and Leyton Orient. Effectively, Scottish football would lose all prestige and become a national humiliation ritual. Inverness Caledonian Thistle would probably get more points per season from teams forfeiting when they can’t afford to drive there than they would ever get from winning matches.
