Women free skating in Riga is live right now.

Final ice resurfacing break is in process, so you have a couple of minutes to prepare some food and drinks. We're heading into the final twelve shortly!

If you want to watch some programs from earlier today, I recommend rewinding to those three.

This was very cute from the Spanish girl who did a backflip.

I assume the first number is ranking, and the second number is some sort of score?
>>
>>157510950
First number on the left is starting order. Then on the right you have the ranking after short program (yesterday) and the score from yday.
Today is free skate, which is longer and gives more points.
>>
Very unfortunate with falls on first two jumps. She had potential do score a lot higher. You could tell from her expression how much she tensed up afterwards. Thankfully muscle memory kicked in later on and she did other elements well. This is why they practice so much, so that even if there's some mistake and mental is crumbling, they can still execute.

Nice skate from Olivia. Very convincing jumps, great height and speed.

>>157510950
Here are the detailed scores from yesterday btw.
https://www.skatingscores.com/2627/jgplat/jr/women/i/short/standings/

First column is total, then there are technical elements (jumps, spins etc.) and components (you could think of it as artistic value).
>>
Home girl delivered great performance. The audience was rightfully ecstatic.
>>
Hmm looks like Anna Gerke isn't in her top form yet. She's capable of much better execution. Hopefully she improves during the season, it's only the second competition.
>>
Wow, I'm loving all the extra hand movements Kira is doing. Beautiful music and fitting dance. Shame about the shaky landings because the program is amazing.
>>
Love the glitter on miss dzsumanyijazova

Would I be wrong to assume the swarthy one is the american?
>>
>>157511250
You are correct! Keep an eye out on her, she has ridiculously fast spins in the air.
>>
Man, Japanese are great at figure skating.
>>
She did a cartwheel!
She reminds me of Ami Nakai from Olympics, similar levels of joy.

Huh, Skylar went for a serious piece this time. Yesterday her music was very energetic.
>>
Hard to believe this girl is so young, she skates as if she had long years of experience.
>>
It's Yamadover
>>
Yeah that finish was incredible. Wow.
>>
Top3 now. Man, they are all so good. I want more than three to get the medals.
>>
Speakers at Riga couldn't handle the bass lol. Classical music is too powerful for a small budget rink.
Wang has the highest GOE scores so far I think - and rightfully so, impressive execution.
>>
She's collecting all the plushies lmao. Helper girl was busy.

Holy fuck, that was a triple axel. Twice. Heavy artillery unleashed.
>>
Was wondering how an australian got there, but she's asian + 4 jap coaches
>>
>>157511459
Yeah, I think she moved to Japan last year for better training facilities too. But it's impressive that she got to really high level in Aus already.
>>
>>157511464
She utterly obliterated the previous one, oof
>>
>>157511474
Yeah, that was brutal. Demolished all the girls before.

Mei took -4 with that fall, with even -0.39 she had it
>>
>>157511496
Haha, yeah, audience loved Yihan. It was funny how that girl kept bringing her more and more plushies and CN girl had to figure out how to fit them all on the sofa.

Hana helping her out. Love to see these interactions. Like Kaori helping Alysa with setting up the plushies on the medal.

Skating is wonderful. The way they move around the rink while holding their country flags... My favorite medal ceremonies from Olympics and it carries on to Grand Prix events too.

I'm surprised there's so little audience. On the other hand, there's only 1.8m people in Latvia. Lucky those who came to see the competition, at least they had guaranteed photos with the champions :)
>>
Anyway, there's also this event upcoming for seniors (!) in Japan.
Should be an Olympics-tier show. The streaming is paywalled behind $30 but there should exist some streaming alternatives. Make a thread if you find any.

>September 4–6, Tokyo Tatsumi Ice Arena

Looking forward to Sasha's return and how she will match up against JP powerhouses. Kaori Sakamoto has retired, but now Ami Nakai and Mone Chiba are joined by Yuna Aoki and the absolute monster Mao Shimada.

That's a silly thing to say anon. It's much more of a sport than football as last World Cup proved. Also there are no counter-intuitive calculations like with NBA draft causing intentional throws. And so on, and so on. The rules are actually followed here and there's amazing feeling of competition between the athletes who always give it their best to deliver splendid performance, pushing the limits of human body. Abandon the prejudice and give it a shot. The streams are available to watch and rewind freely. You can still check out Olympics or old nationals etc.
