what's the problem with super-teams exactly?

>50 years old lebron
>4ever injured embiid

Basketball is the only team sport where you only need like 3 superstars to be a winner so it can be abused. Although it doesn't work anymore since all superteams from the past 10 years have been dogshit.

In an era of positionless basketball a hyper efficient player at his position (I.e. a superstar) is really only ever needed now to be a late game closer. Last years Finals really highlights my point. Putting together a cohesive balanced 1-5 with solid roleplayers is more important than ever now unlike past eras where you could get away with one/two/three persons taking all the shots and driving the offense. Top heavy teams are exposed in the playoffs.

So uhh, who plays defense? Do they think they're just gonna score 145ppg?

I assume you're not counting the Durant Warriors as "dogshit" right? They went back to back and would have threepeated with ease if Durant OR Thompson didn't get hurt.

Literally everyone.

doesn't count as a superteam since they were all put together before they were good and Durant just did what Durant does and joins them for an easy ring

Nothing. Stacked teams have always existed but it's only a problem when Lebron does it because he didn't want to be beholden to an failing front office and created a situation for himself. BTW Philly isn't even a super team.

It became the go-to strategy after it was superteam big3 C's -> superteam heatles -> superteam KD warriors. the trade prices went way up and depth became harder to round out the roster. Its like 4 first rounders for a 37yr old KD, these owners are desperate for a big3 amd other GMs are cashing in. Over the past decade it wasnt as successful because every year it was 2-3 new attempted superteams and they didnt have enough assets to do it correctly. It is still the most effective way to build a champiomship roster, jus trade for or sign the best players. It will never stop being a winning strategy
