why do you follow a club? is it because it represents your country? is it because it's the best in your country/league of your choice? is it because your favorite players play in it? personally, for me it's the latter. I get a bit fond of some of the history of the clubs in where my fav players are but that's it. If Mbappé goes and signs for Man Utd. I would watch Man Utd. just because Mbappé's in it, not because I care particularly for Man. Utd. club world cup is different though and there just the club's nationality of origin matters more.

I like betis cause I visited Seville in high school and really like the city.
I'm an anti of barca cause English language Barca fans tend to be obnoxious reddit soys

>is it because it represents your country?
Why would I be a fan of a foreign club? Every German club represents Germany in a way, even though all leagues are very international nowadays (unfortunately). But yes, I guess it's somewhat true: I don't follow international clubs because I as a German have nothing to do with them
>is it because it's the best in your country/league of your choice?
No, though everyone likes to have some history and tradition to brag and identify with. But to have that, you don't need to have the most titles. Following a club just because it is successful means you are a bandwagoner who needs outward approval
>is it because your favorite players play in it?
Kinda, everyone who plays for my favorite club is among my favorite players
Most people support the local club they grew up with, usually the club their father and grandfather support. Though it is less normal now than it was 30 and more years ago. That's your community, your representation. And that's more than enough

because muh club values which is shown on the pitch too especially during that 2007/2008 season

they live and breathe that club motto of Victory Through Harmony

Arteta also emphasise on being a family man to the players too so it's not just empty slogans it's just sad the way they handled the departure of Martinelli tho that's not how you treat a dedicated loyal family member

Lol, lmao even. Were German Barca soys throwing tantrums about this stupid little hat too?
English language ones seemed to be under some delusion that they were part of the French resistance cause they supported some billion dollar sports org."I support Barca cause of their history of anti-fascism" and their definition of fascism is any criticism of infinity immigration

I don't know, not into that "scene" enough
There aren't that many German Barca fans all in all, but they do exist, at least on the internet. And they're indeed all reddit söy types who suck off Messi

1st exposure to soccer was the 94 World Cup. I thought the Dutch played attractive football so I pulled for them. My older brother was on a school trip to Europe at the time and told me how intense the Euros were about it, watching matches with hotel cooks after hours, etc. Fast forward a decade or so I start noticing UEFA CL being on ESPN and Liverpool had Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel (lol) that I recognized from being a Dutch casual so I started watching them. The scouse accents of Gerrard and Carragher reminding me of the hillbilly gibberish of my locals cinched it I guess. I've been a dedicated plastic since I persisted through the Hodgson and Rogers years.

I follow the local team because that's where I live. I follow the big teams that take a chance on the local players.

Thats why I like Atlanta, Newcastle, and Atleti. Well... not so much Atleti now.
