should clubs have a responsibility to educate young players beyond football or is that stretching it? I just feel like the game would be better as a whole if those lads weren't so fucking retarded and dragged around by their agents and parents

>should clubs have a responsibility to educate young players beyond football or is that stretching it?
Unironically yes. Clubs started doing this after they've realised some young lads are killing themselves after being dropped by a club's academy with no route to life outside football.

The most reponsible would be to forego these massive salaries and pay footballers a life long rent instead.

That would be great if you wanted footballl to collapse like Germany with socialist politics
>>

Not really.
It benefits the club to keep them dumb. Easier to babysit a grown man with the brain of a football loving 8yo lad than deal with a thinking man with adult problems.
Most of these players wouldn't even be able to run a bath for themself let alone make a meal, pay a bill or iron a shirt

football is the only industry where someone could go from working class bum to multimillionaire on pure skill and work ethic, why would you want to take that away and put it in the pockets of corporate suits? it's agents that need to fuck off. although I will concede that some player are overpaid relative to their output and to sole that I'd suggest making a decent chunk of their salaries performance based instead of guaranteed

clubs don't really deal with players though, they deal primarily with agents and brokers who only care about making money for themselves even if it means fucking both parties. if players were brought up well then none of that would be an issue

Salah speaking a lot of sense here. (((Agents))) and (((American))) owners have absolutely destroyed football. To the surprise of absolutely fucking no one.

Always amazes me when you see the lists of agents' fees paid by clubs that get published every year: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/clyxnpvl7wdo

>for the year to February 2026, each PL club paid on average £23m to agents

imagine spending so much time to get that absolute disgusting haircut
