Crespo and Veron are in the same boat as Baggio: lots of Serie A success back when that was the most competitive league and stacked with talent, but bad luck when choosing the right clubs for Champions League.

Riquelme (along with Diego Forlan, who won the Copa America with Uruguay )carried a mediocre Villarreal team all the way to the Champions League semi-finals.

That's not what OP asked. Neymar and Shevchenko won UCLs. Also Czechoslavakia has competed in Euro finals. Obviously some players have no chance of winning the World Cup, but OP also included UCLs, Euros, and Copa America.
