100%. They even did the 125th anniversary cringe with the kit for it. The brighton players played their hearts out, they filled the stadium. By january they'll all be fucked. This was Hurzeler's champions league final today. He'll get pumped in the home game.

People complaining about player performances. But look at this shit. How you playing against this when your RW is shit and your ST is a weak mong who can't score? Game was screaming out for Gyokeres.
>>
if you lose 4 games you arent winning the league. there's 1

My only solace is a moral one in which the lads who we love are also human. It also really opened my eyes to see that Invincibles season was one that will probably never be replicated.

Lost the 5th game to livershit last season and it didn't mean shit. Except this season there's no pep to claw his way into a title run in.
>>

I hope other teams don't use his tactics against us
>>

Not really, could see a loss coming a mile off.
>>
>>157804502
There's a massive difference between losing to a club like Liverpool and losing to Brighton.
>>
>>157804492
It really depends, Arsenal lost 5 last season. It's too many draws which can be the killer.
>>
>>157804514
Liverpool were on a 4 win streak at the time. Brighton this season are the equivalent of Liverpool at this stage last season. Results at this stage don't mean anything especially when all the supposed competitors are dropping even more points.
>>
>>157804500
No one should be fussed by this. Team was out played. Tactic was superior. They treated this game as a cup final, for us it was just another midtable side. A few players had stinkers and it highlighted fundamental issues. Sucka and havertz particularly. Arteta will have a debrief and come up with a plan for these systems. It's an early season loss against a team that took it far more seriously than they should. It's 3 points lost after a good run of wins. Nothing of worth was lost today.
>>
>>157804531
You can lose 6 games and win the premier league historically
>>
>>157804488
The only way Gyokeres would have scored today is if he assisted himself like against Atletico or whoever it was in the CL. Pretty much none of the attacking players move the fucking ball forward in any sort of timely fashion. Literally fucking all of them would just wait around until the defence is settled before making a move. >We won the league with Madueke, Gyokeres, and 1 goal in the league Martinelli up front. Think about how silly that is for a second and think about what that means for Havertz and Saka. Tzolis gets a season at least but even now he's showing all the signs of a classic Arteta forward player. Playing defender for longer periods of time than attacker.
>>
>>157804540
Youre supposed to react in-game. Sharteta wont fix shit. Heinze needs to drill the offside trap. Gabixl needs to take a break. Brighton played a kid vuskovic today. They need to stop tiring out strikers by making em track back constantly. This is grimmer than u think.

Hard to say who really was the worst player today.
Have to sit with this awful performance for three weeks now.

Sunderland will of course roll over for City tomorrow.

>>157804617

>Only by default for being the least shit player today.
What fucking match were you watching???????????????????????? Fucking what?
>>
Remember when United and City were dominating the league as reigning champions, mid table clubs used to roll over for them. It's like teams all think Arsenal are softer than those teams and can be got at. Sunderland deserved a result last week too honestly.
>>
tfw being prem champs really makes you desensitised to losing. i feel absolutely nothing.
>>
>>157804630
You're going to have results like this over the course of the league season. The now 3 week break won't help.
>>
>>157804560
Completely agree, they're too used to the low block. Fluid counters are shit. Havertz lacks the ST instinct that Gyokeres has and in games where there's counter attacking chances, he is fucking shite and the rest of the team are shite. They need to work on this if they're not playing the low block meme anymore, do a lot of work. Today if they were drilled in the art of the counter like chelsea seem to be, they'd have fought for a result. But brighton knew they can't and fucking destroyed them. It's why I'm not too fussed, the team met it's match today and was thoroughly outplayed.

Not like chances didn't come either but again this slow dwelling from the attacking players ruins the chance. Saka is probably the worst for this. He is hopeless. Should have gotten at least 1 goal. Why havertz has to kick the ball at the keeper? Why is sucka so poorly coordinated all of a sudden? He's so stiff. He can't dribble past players anymore, he doesn't have the agility or balance to score from half chances, he doesn't have composure to regularly convert good chances. It's repeated failings now that could change the course of the game.

The front line genuinely needs to be stripped and rebuilt. Don't care about saka's arsenal heritage or if he had a few good seasons. Havertz is a CAM not a striker. LW I thought Tzolis looked okay and had some drive to attack unlike the rest of them. But he's not shown he's much more than drossard when he was in good form. Gyokeres is a player that suits certain games. It's a terrible front line even in games we control. Barca/PSG score at least twice today if they were in our place taking those chances.
>>

>>157804635
Their losses would usually be against some mid table shitter who put on a worldie performance. They just rebound quickly, which is what this arsenal team does usually anyway. I saw a united team lose to Everton on the first day, win 5 games after that, lose again, win 5 games after that and then it kept happening every 4-5 games losing to shit teams like Norwich, but it won them the league in the end.

Honest to god anon, I don't think you watched the match. Saka was dreadful going forward. Abysmal even. He killed the momentum so often that it driving me mad. Literally the only thing he did that you could say was useful is take corners and those certainly weren't anything to write home about. In fact, he actively fucked >us by basically passing the ball to Verbruggen so they could counter and score their second. He was offside but shooting the ball LITERALLY FUCKING ANYWHERE ELSE would have been better. Like, literally.
And yeah, everyone was shit but I'd say Tzolis at least did ever so slightly better than Saka.

>gonna lose the league to another bald fraud in his first season in charge of City simply because he can’t sign/coach an attack to save his life
Arteta should retire on the spot if >we aren’t 12 points ahead in the league by Christmas and in the top 4 in the CL.
>>
>>157804871
Tzolis is fair, but it's splitting hairs for me. I don't think anyone had much positives to their performance today. Raya, the entire defense, and Havertz were god awful. Everyone else was just varying degrees of bad or worthless.
>>
>>157804670
>they're too used to the low block
Which is a funny thing to say considering how open most of the CL matches and cup games were, and the fact that the only reason why it seems like >we're playing a low block every match is because >we move the ball forward at a snails pace, which means their whole team can get settled before >we even get to the final third. Seriously, the amount of times >we could have passed the ball forward or even just kept running forward but >we don't and just wait there is maddening.

>Why is sucka so poorly coordinated all of a sudden?
>all of a sudden
By all of a sudden you mean the last 2 seasons? He's been like this for ages now. People keep think he just needs time to get in form or whatever but seems like no matter how much time has passed, he still looks shit. And worst part is that his decision making has somehow gone down the drain as well. Actually, the worst part is giving him a massive new contract after he was already visibly shitting the bed for about a season by the time he got that new contract but whatever. Remember last season when Arteta chucked him in the middle and he scrapped a goal against I think Brighton funnily enough and people were deluding themselves into thinking that would be Saka's new role? That because he doesn't have legs any more, he'd stay central and be more useful there even though his decision making is dog shit? Fun times.

Sorry for the essay but it's annoying because it's the exact same fucking problems we've seen for months if not years now.

This performance I don't put solely down to the players. There were various factors. However in games where you struggle it highlights issues even more so. No longer can you carry players. No longer can you hide behind the scoreline. Sucka didn't score today, and his performance was inexcusable. Tzolis put him to shame, and he had a pretty weak game along with the rest of the team. He was direct and had attacking intent. He was fast with his movements and didn't dwell anywhere near as much as sucka. He barely got the ball and when he did he was already swamped. Sucka had the ball in situations where he had more than enough time to send a cross or take a clean shot and failed every single time.

After this performance the sucka brigade has a lot to defend. I'll be interested to see how the Gyokeres debate goes considering he looked much better than shitvertz but was obviously in some supporting role FOR havertz, which is retarded. I suspect sharteta's ego has grown a bit too large and his infatuation with certain players really bit him in the arse today.

Arsenal deserve the result but I can’t stomach games where the narrative is that >we got totally outplayed and >we could and should have scored at least two. Sometimes your strong points (defense) fall flat and have off days and someone else had to pick up the slack. Strangulation. No options. Players further up the pitch are certainly marked and shite in the air. What can you do here as a team? You need dedicated tactics for this. And it's basically >direct counter. National league tier route one passes to a line of lofty attackers. Players are getting much more flak than I think they deserve, but they certainly crumbled under the pressure very early and then the performances just turned to shit and players hid from responsibility.

6 arsenal plays vs 9. You're not playing through this. You have to play over this. 2-3 players on the defence's shoulder. Relatively high line. But instead of attempting runs and making a long pass they turn because it poses a risk. Calafiori was the only one that attempted runs, a through ball wasn't attempted. They recycled possession and were pressed back. This led to a free quick that was taken short, Odegaard then sent a through ball through the centre where there were no runners even close to the destination. Possession lost.

EXTREMELY wasteful attacking sequence, pathetic. They played safe in an attacking possession, then attempted the pass when they were deep enough down the pitch that losing possession wouldn't threaten a counter. Cowardly run of play, very disjointed and disorganised.

This was a fundamental weakness of the team today. Raya makes a great pass that went through their front line to Odegaard. Odegaard receives and then makes a shit pass straight to the opposition. This led to a dangerous Brighton counter. Odegaard is too isolated and shouldn't have been passed too. Look at the Brighton player, where they are and they're all marking arsenal players. Arsenal players are way too far from him also. Players and Arteta don't seem to have adapted to their strategy, almost at all the whole game. This very poor.

???

I highlighted Havertz in the red circle. Brighton are playing a very, very high defensive line. Le intelligent striker decided he must come deep, all the way to arsenal's defensive line(?) for reasons. His contribution was a 1-2 with Rice which did absolutely nothing. THe high line posed a chance for a direct through ball to bypass the midfield. The striker was in the defensive position, wingers on the line. Why is the striker not on the defensive line waiting for a throughball? What contribution is a 1-2 to a DM when they're not actively being pressed in a compressed midfield? This is Gyokeres' bread and butter. This led to back passing all the way to the keeper who tried a long through ball to Havertz, who then failed like usual at winning the ball and holding play for overlapping runs.

Are they trying to draw them out? Are they trying to be patient? The team lacks pace and instinct for these direct plays. But in games like this, this situation is as good as it'll get.

What gets me is there is basically no attack when he's on the pitch in these games. I'd like to know why he game deep there, I'm not a footballer so I don't understand it. He's not coming deep to make aggressive dribbles, the defensive line doesn't need support in this situation. All he's done is come deep for a 1-2 and then potters back up the pitch. This leaves the already bare attacking line with a mere 2 players waiting to make runs. Realistically the only chance you have in these compressed, high press midfields is a direct throughball. 4-5 players on the high defensive line ready to run when the ball is sent. Leaving the line is fucking retarded unless I'm missing something. I accept, they don't have the pace to consistently beat the defender, but they will make it a few times if they keep trying. So again, why does the attack abandon his station for seemingly no reason? Unless it's to draw them out, but there were not enough on the line to take advantage of that. Racking my brains over this, he made a few questionable decisions in the first 15 minutes I've rewatched.

>why does the attack abandon his station for seemingly no reason?
When Kane does this he opens up offensive play to get up field and not be stuck in midfield/defensive buildup for too long. I would assume he tried to maybe cover for one of his own mistakes (maybe losing possession upfield prior and tracking back) if it's not that then I am as confused as you are. Sometimes footballers have bad games because they can't get into the game or don't participate actively enough. Arsenal could have better positional rotation and this situation would open up a possibility of forward play. I think there was a disconnect between the tactics, game sense and the players on the pitch.

Baffling sequence. Havertz comes wide, receives the ball, larps as a winger, saka decides his time as a striker has started and moves centrally. Only two arsenal players in the box where Havertz can cross, both out of position and both short wingers, not lofty target men. Havertz clearly failing to beat his man but saka continues centrally(??). Havertz aborts his winger larp. The play is then passed back to the edge of the box because Havertz gets zero support and it ends with saka deciding to come back onto the wing and he sends a slow, high cross to Calafiori which is of course contested, poorly received and blocked. Absolute waste of play. This position switch is shite.

>Arsenal could have better positional rotation and this situation would open up a possibility of forward play. I think there was a disconnect between the tactics, game sense and the players on the pitch.
100% agree. This game is a shit show. We were so thoroughly dismantled I want to know why and how it can be avoided. So far rewatching, they are doing exactly as you say. General disconnect, players are swapping positions and it's not working as it usually does. When Havertz abandons station, you need another threat to cover for him because otherwise the potential attacking situation vanishes. Ideally, the team would have 4 or 5 sat on their line ready to break. But Havertz decided that was too many and he should wander back to his mate Rice to have a kick about in the halfway circle.

Only thing I can think is he is a leader who decides when attacks happen and that was a signal to hold possession and draw them out, because that's what happened. Then Raya tried to pick him out with a long ball. But that is a poor idea in itself because he's shit at hold up play and a counter situation with a high line already existed.

This is in arsenal's half by the way. 6ish vs 6. This is some of the most intense pressing I've ever seen. And it's why I don't think the players had as bad of a performance as say, bournemouth last year. They were absolutely crap against an average side in that game. This was another level, something extraordinary to face. Still doesn't excuse their crap performance and inability to adapt.

>>157811203

I do it on football manager all the time and enjoy the process but this one is fucking painful. I must say though it's helping find good moments as well as bad moments. Rice wasn't that bad. Saka actually had one or two good plays so far. Definitely positives and I know the team will have an answer to this in the future. So far, when arsenal have been in a low block during the first 30 minutes, which was like twice, they actually looked great and it created good counter chances. Low block shouldn't be dismissed, games like this I feel it's likely our best strategy until they've thoroughly revised their strategy. They were playing a very aggressive, and frankly quite dirty, game and there's no point playing how they want you to play. Close up shop if you can't get the ball. Don't do it every week but in cases like this, absolutely. I'll pick some positives out too.

so firstly raya had a shaky game imo. not him alone, the backline in general. this is how it started and for some reason they couldnt steady themselves. i think this is because the smeagulls were pressing in tryhard mode. and i think the reason for that is because they thought or realized i guess that konsa and gabriel have played what 0 minutes together?

and so we had timber rb. other option was zubi. and so the super hard pres because they identified that as a wekness and i guess credit to them it worked.. konsa lost it a couple times and it was, to me, evident in the goals - konsa dropped and so did gabriel - nobody was stepping forward to either ake a blovk or tackle etc. but as you said in your previous post being passive was sorta a theme in the game - from duels to second balls to plating forward, to passing speed etc etc sry i know im jumping topics a little.... as for the screenshot - its the same theme - look at the space above ode - nobody there and timber is slow to make a move first (which is ok given this is his first start in what 8 months?) so all the angles are either closed or too 'dangerous' to pass into/expore (granted thats a screenshot). so then on top of being passive we have the distances wrong etc etc again shit game and im sure theyre all super aware of that

Midfield was really poor which is crazy because Rice and Bruno G are elite midfielders but honestly I think the Spanish fellas would’ve done better in the tight spaces today/yesterday. Havertz…he’s just not for these games. Gyok is our mid table stat-padder. Half of the league is going to approach our games like this. It’s always been that way and Farteta needs to respect teams like this and play the right players. Havertz is a luxury player for CL and marquee matches. Saka too. For these games you need to play the shit lords like Gyok, Merino, and yes Madueke. Maybe even a Dowman cameo. Honestly Hincapie. Players who can play a street fight. I hope Shart learns I really do but I have a feeling he’s going to overthink it.

All the attacking players Berta has signed.

Tzolis has been inconsistent, but it's still too early to call with him. The others are all not good enough for Arsenal. The Vinicius pursuit was always going to be a longshot and it distracted him from closing the Rogers deal when he could have been had for a more reasonable price. The Alvarez stuff was pathetic and embarrassing when he was never going to sign for Arsenal.

>>
>>157821891
>They only won the league because city bottled it. That’s the only reason.
That's usually what happens when someone wins the league, other teams aren't good enough over the course of the season and 1 or 2 will bottle it. Arsenal have bottled it loads of times with their 2nd place finishes.
>>
Are attack is still horrible to watch. Every season I keep thinking 2022/2023 was a fluke. We would go down by a goal or 2 and I'd knew we'd score and come back. Now it's basically over if it's more than 1
>>
This game reminds me of that cup game final against City last season where it was painfully obvious that Arteta only had Plan A and nothing else. So you just had to suffer through the whole game watching the players try to the same thing again and again even when it was extremely obvious that whatever they were doing had 0 impact on City's players. Arteta's plan was just to stick with it and hope for some individual brilliance. Having Raya in that game would have maybe meant >we don't concede as easily but I don't think the tactics would have changed a lick. It's not like Kepa doesn't know how to kick a ball up field ffs.

>>157822061
>2022/2023 was a fluke
Not a fluke necessarily but it was because it was new and unexpected. The second people figured out how to counter it, it was over.

Brighton were intense pressing man to man, that's why the only chances came from Arsenal players being out of position.

Arteta said it himself. He could see exactly what brighton were doing from the first throw in. He didn't make half time changes because he wanted the players to adapt after tactical changes made over half time. He brings the spanish midfielders on because le spanish tiki taka meme. When I watch the rest of this game I want to note whether change in personnel or strategy was the best decision. I'm sure both needed to happen early. Bring Gyokeres on during the first half, bring Mandookie on, bring Merino on. And spray balls over the defensive line to create a threat for goals and to force brighton to defend more. Brighton sent more defenders forward when they smelt arsenal still trying to play through the midfield.
>>
File: goal 1.png (3.86 MB, 4560x1784)

Their first goal was a good goal. First scene Rice and the RCB both decide to press the player on the edge of the box, effectively leaving a massive gap behind them and 1 remaining CB with the FB's on the defensive line. When brighton break the press with a pass to the eventual scorer, Tzolis comes deeper leaving a 3v3 on the edge of the box. Rice, Bruno and the RCB are all out of the game at this point.

Note the position the two arsenal defenders are, Gabriel and Calafiori in image 2 and 3. Compare them with image 4. They stepped back when the pass was made, leaving clear space for the striker. They didn't prioritise closing that shooting angle off, I assume they were watching for another pass instead of a shot. Tzolis is poorly positioned where he is and effectively leaves this situation to unfold without making any overt defensive actions.

Star"boy" is cooked from playing as a first teamer since 17. Remember everyone celebrated that record he got, of most Premier League games in a row for Arsenal? Well yeah, he's paying for it now.

>>157835920
Don't think he's got the physical attributes for that role, even if looks one of the better, more natural finishers at the club.

Gabriel Jesus has already scored 2 goals for Barcelona this season. He's played 40 minutes

both of us could probably do the same in lel liga, playing for Barca of course.

Listen here buddy, willock done okay for newcastle. We've given you a GREAT deal at 25 great british pounds.
We also helped yous unload toenail for an ABSOLUTE SCAM OF THE CENTURY fee to tottenham hotshite(by pretending we're intersted in him).

Shartinelli too. Sharteta can play attacking football see 22/23 and 23/24 he simply refuses to.

Yes he's got a long term injury from over exertion and it's not something that goes away with 3 weeks off. He'll likely be permanently injured.

You guys ITT unironically need to lighten up. Our forward line is crap, but we had one bad match. We aren't heads and shoulders above the rest, but they are dire too...

For professional footballers the Arsenal lads are not very good at putting the ball in the back of the net.
>>
One thing I like about the current Arsenal is that they care more about an ugly win than a beautiful loss. And in this era that's very important when the gap between the big 6 and the rest of the league is starting to become nonexistent.
>>
Saka has scored 2 tap ins and a penalty so he's obviously back and his haters are racist.
>>
>>157849658
Saka's real problem is that he doesn't seem to know where the goal is. People wouldn't call him shit if he had a normal footballer's finishing ability.
>>
>>157849809
He is shit because he no longer can dribble, doesn't beat his man, doesn't make many crosses and when he does they're shit, always looks for the basic pass, kicks the balls at defenders legs, isn't clinical in front of goal, has shit movement etc etc etc. He is absolutely shite. No one talks about his champions league performance. It fucking stank. He was stroppy, uncoordinated, constantly lost the ball, did a handball in the box that miraculously wasn't a penalty.

He's in defensible. He got a pity penalty and a few tap ins and now people are defending him. He's finished as a player. I don't care about moments of magic or tap ins. If you can't consistently threaten the defence and other players have to be drawn from their position to wipe your arse, like Havertz now constantly moving onto the right, what is the point in keeping you in the team? None. Get him gone. Arteta's sentimental emotional squad selection will be what drowns the team.
>>
Eze is better than odegaard in midfield. He's won more trophies and was a big reason why we were 8 points clear last season. Odegaard is a home player for low pressure games. He's never performed when the pressure is on for us (I don't give a shit about what he did in the world cup; that's irrelevant to club football.)

I still think that you'd hate him less if he just knew how to score goals again.

Also I don't completely disagree with you, Saka has regressed and doesn't want to sprint and just wants to backpass to Ben White but it's still probably at Arteta's orders. Arteta is obsessed with walking it in.

What's funny is that he's also missed like 3 or 4 tap ins already as well. So he can't even do that properly.
>>
>>157850116
I remember wolves last year where his celebration was the little contract signing gimmick. Then we drew 2-2. He's been doing some addresses to the criticism in his celebrations this season too. He's a lazy arrogant prick and he's shit. He puts a lot of pressure on other players so much so they're having to take his position numerous times a game. There is nothing there for him anymore.

meh.
>>
>>157850146
Yep, but no one likes to think about that do they. All they see is he's scored. A crap penalty and a few tap ins. And those tap ins have only come because he's basically swapping positions with strikers during matches because Arteta concedes that he's fucking garbage on the wing. If we had a good winger, the striker can easily do the tap ins whilst the winger provides and threatens the defence. Saying that, I even doubt Havertz to consistently score tap ins. Again, that's Gyokeres bread and butter.

A lot of people have started to notice the decline tbf. They just don't want to say it outright because of sentimentality. A lot of people had already noticed it last season but thought it was some kind of feud between Gyokeres and Saka when the truth was that Saka was just being selfish. As the season went on, that became more and more obvious and now people, at least some, are starting wonder what the future holds for him.
>>
>>157848630
how did no one swoop in on kang in lee. good tech, hardworker, strong on feet i mean wtf? cheap as shit, i watched madrid derby, noticed him first 2 years ago at the psg game. i noticed kone at the world cup and he looks good for roma. yet we arent entertaining offers for zubishitty or mls or whatever cos one is homegrown ngubu and the other is artniggers wifes son or whatever. theyre not our level, they had the chance. build a fucking team of motivators and terriers. i dont need starngubu lying on the fuckin pitch. he shipped efan instead of letting him play. he aint worse than this.
>>
>>157850327
a dm like that solves a lot of their problems. he might even get a chance to shoot on goal instead of having to play sweeper.
>>
>>157850362
Future holds the arab league. You cannot let him stay in the team and adjust the tactic around him because his performances are shit. Havertz is shit on the right. Against brighton he lacked the pace and agility when he was chasing the ball. Tried to beat his man and it went as well as a 6ft3 donkey would go. That is when you start questioning the manager too. Not Arteta out level questioning, but what is this team about? Is this saka fc? Is the team built around him? It's definitely feeling like that. Him, Havertz and Odegaard are untouchable. Odegaard started really well, so did Havertz to a degree but they are suited to particular styles of play that's increasingly rare in the premier league. Not to mention they were all shit last season.
