When you think about it, it's pretty crazy that the United States has not one, not two, not three, but FOUR enormous sports leagues for four different, distinct sports.There's nothing like this in Europe or South America. They basically have soccer, and... that's it, right? I know some countries have rugby, and some have basketball, but none of it rises to a level that seriously competes with the soccer leagues, and the inter-country leagues like the Champion's League. Meanwhile, though the NFL is the top dog among American sports leagues, it has clear, serious competition from MLB, from the NBA, and from the NHL.This is basically the major reason why Americans don't develop soccer talents. It'd be one thing if there was one sport competing with soccer, but America has FOUR sports to compete with soccer, and their leagues are all much older and richer and more established than MLS.
