>Under Section 18 of the UK Competition Act 1998 (and Chapter II prohibition), an entity with a dominant market position is prohibited from behaving in a way that unfairly exploits consumers or restricts competition.

City are unironically going to burn the PL to the ground. Screencap this.

Strange. A British law that is fair and justified.

>thinking the Competition Act applies to a football league

>The Competition Act 1998 applies to UK football leagues, regulating commercial arrangements, collective selling of broadcasting rights, and governing body dominance, though specific exemptions can be granted on public policy grounds

red cartel on suicide watch

>though specific exemptions can be granted on public policy grounds
I'm assuming the Premier League has one of those exemptions? Similar to Major League Baseball in the US being exempt from standard antitrust laws.

>I'm assuming the Premier League has one of those exemptions?

that's up to the million pound City lawyers to contest i'm guessing

>commercial arrangements, collective selling of broadcasting rights, and governing body dominance
So literally nothing applicable.

They could only use this to delay the sanctions for a couple years at most and argue that the punishment should be moe lenient. It wouldn't get them out of the shit they have done like the sham contracts. No matter what they do they're vetting punished. Thinking they can turn this around and sue the PL instead is pure fantasy

case closed, city won

man city is nowhere near to be sentenced anything as they will have general competition law for their side and premlier league will likely lose in the court

this is also good for teams like newcastle and aston villa as after this case they can start spending money

would be glorious if uae and saudi teamed up to collectively sue the pl because of ffp. together with the rest of the non red cartel clubs
>>
>>157965789
you fucking idiot. "Restricts competition" means muscling out other equivalent businesses, i.e., other companies that want to run football leagues in competition with the Premier League.

This is antitrust law, it doesn't have anything to do with how sports leagues choose to internally govern themselves.

The only one coping is you. Neither you nor the equally asshurt Finn customer understand this law.

English league after implosion of PL and the bubble who sustains the clubs

Absolutely. I went from following football slavishly to barely watching a single game in 15 years, so this is the most exciting football news in forever. I also hate arabs more than anything else.
