Why is it that India didn't win a single Gold Medal at the Olympics?

Why did they place only three places above Fiji, despite the fact that Fiji has a population of 700K and India has a population of 1.2 BILLION.

India placed three places lower than North Korea, which has a population of 26 million.

Other countries that India finished below are Lithuania (2.8M), Kyrgyzstan (7.4M) and Dominica (65K).

Why are Indians so inathletic? Why are they so incapable of winning a medal?

Is there anything we can do to make them win Gold in any event?

India also has lower GDP per Capita than Zimbabwe, Palestine and post Pol Pot Cambodia
