After the endless controversies and corruption that have plagued big clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man City, Bayern, Man United, PSG, Chelsea, Milan, Juve, etc, anyone else have a new appreciation for what Simeone accomplished with Atletico? Simeone took a club that was ranked 10th in La Liga and drowning in debt and - within a few years and without any major sugardaddies in the initially - he had them winning La Liga, defeating Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, and playing in two Champions League finals. And he did this during the Messi/Ronaldo era. You can also argue that the 2016 UCL was stolen from them since Sergio Ramos's goal was offside. I would also argue that during this era Real Madrid had much "dirtier" players like Ramos, Pepe, and Casemiro. Atletico's defenders in that era like Diego Godin were world-class and had a cleaner record. If Falcao had stuck around and not gotten injured, Atletico probably wins a UCL.His tactics got smeared as "haramball" by Barca fans who think a high line or possession-based style is the only "correct" way to play football. These people would've also branded the classic Italian defensive teams as "haramball" (and they did with mid-2010s Juve), as if Barca and Madrid players never dived or fouled.
>>157975441Imagine prime Falcao and prime Griezmann on the same squad in addition to that defense.
>>157975441Don't forget Simeone's Atletico is undefeated against Barcelona at the Champions League (only aggregates matter in the knockout round, not individual games).
>>157975441It doesn’t even work anymore, the best way to slurp and win 1-0 is by keeping the ball
>still playing this sorry ass narrativeHe’s by far the 3rd richest team in Spain and keeps fumbling everything even when Barça and Real are not aroundHis only achievement during that time was a league during covidFace it, they’re a footnote club
>>157975441is that his wife? he did pretty well for himself
>>157975652Simeone abandoned his ultra-defensive style years ago. He's incorporates more open tactics and pressing now. His squad is better at keeping the ball than the current Real Madrid squad lol. Atletico had 61% possession and 9 shots on goal to Real's 3 in the last derby.
>>157975661>He’s by far the 3rd richest team in SpainThat only became true after the initial years of success and the money that came from reaching the UCL finals, etc.
>>157975441Atletico is by far the cleanest club that regularly qualifies for the Champions League.
>>157975441what is wrong with his face?
>>157975664yeah, that's his wife
>>157975441The good thing they had is that their success is earned. What he almost did in 2014 with a poor club plagued with injuries was historic. It's the last time a small club will get the chance to win the CL, as things stands now, even if City was found out, it's impossible to compete against foreign money. Madrid, Barsa, Arsenal, all of them have it. Atleti has it now too, but it seems its not breaking the status quo
>>157976198his wife had that time of the month
>>157975441>His tactics got smeared as "haramball"Harambe?
>>157976499Just look at what's happened to Valencia
>>157975441That's a hot wife ngl.. in the end he keeps winning
>>157975441Crazy how he brought up those players and then they raped his country on the world stage in front of billionaires kek cucked argies
>>157976198He knows he will get the boot soon
>>157987640No he won't. There's no one available right now who would do a better job at Atletico. They made the UCL semifinals last season and eliminated Barcelona on the way.
>>157975441Imagine:Prime Falcao as main strikerPrime Griezmann on the midfieldDiego Godin dictating the backlineCourtois as goalkeeperAtletico was close to having that lineup.
>>157975441Simeone is the most entertaining manager to watch during a game
>>157975441Man, I love Atletico.
>>157975441Atletico is currently above Real Madrid in the La Liga standings
