>>
>>157976436
Premier League tried to bring in artificial rules to freeze the league at its old power levels after Chelsea and City's investment spooked them. all clubs were forced to agree to the rules or else they would be kicked out of the league. City went on a mad trophy run anyway so now the rules are being used to punish them by misinterpreting their investment as malicious fraud.
>>
>>157976436
i'm sure you can find an answer to the question that's been asked thousands of times. anyway, enjoy liquidation
>>
>>157976436
The idea behind limiting a club's ability to spend based on their revenue is to stop them from overspending and going under. However it does mean that it's harder for smaller clubs to grow, yes, which is why teams like Villa or Newcastle would love to get rid of PSR entirely.
>>
>>157976079
Someone having a spergout trying to be funny.
>>
>>157976436
Yes. But its a bit rich questioning this now they've been found out after those rules have served them well for years in keeping clubs like Newcastle and Villa from getting anywhere near their level.
>>
>>157976462
>The idea behind limiting a club's ability to spend based on their revenue is to stop them from overspending and going under.
who the fuck cares if a club goes bankrupt for shitty policy? thats no reason to invent rules to protect the big clubs
>>157976485
i actually always questioned these weird rules. Mainly because i think the worst side of football is the fact that there are just a few clubs able to buy the best players and simply win. These rules just make sure its always the same few clubs that are allowed to buy the best players and win

>>157976635
It's true I don't understand why the PL cares what the source of the revenue is when it comes to PSR. I'd love for someone to explain it to me and why it matters. Here's me thinking these rules exist to stop small clubs going bust, but in practice they are being used to punish ambitious rich clubs for spending too much. Why that is a problem, I have no idea.
>>
>>157976626
No it's not, hence the guilty verdict.

>It's true I don't understand why the PL cares what the source of the revenue is when it comes to PSR. I'd love for someone to explain it to me and why it matters.
From https://gis.sport/news/the-premier-leagues-financial-rules-psr-and-financial-fair-play-explained/:

>The basic principle of PSR is that clubs are allowed to lose a certain amount of money over a three-year rolling window before they get penalised.

>Penalties can include point deductions and fines, and the amount of money they can lose over the three years is £105 million, or £39 million if the club has spent any of the previous three seasons outside of the Premier League.

>This means that the club can average a loss of £35 million a season (or £13 million if recently promoted). However, as long as they balance it over three years, they can exceed £35m in a single season.

>For instance, if they were to lose only £10 million in one season and £10 million the season after, the third season would give them the leeway to lose £85 million if they wanted to splash some cash. More on the implications of this later.

>It is also worth noting what expenses count toward the ‘loss’ value. These include transfer fees, players’ wages, and manager pay-outs, whereas losses that are seen as in the ‘general interests of football’ do not count, such as investments in infrastructure, women’s teams, and academy costs.

>As for revenue, TV money, matchday revenue and sponsorship deals all count, alongside profits on player sales. However, profit in this sense does not necessarily mean the club made money on the player.

Abu Dhabi United were claiming capital (money invested by the owners) was revenue (commercial deals) so they could satisfy PSR.

You don't understand what revenue is in the slightest. Revenue is income from trade. Owners depositing money into the business is not trade.

>Why should that matter when they still passed PSR with the money?
The source of the revenue is not genuine trading activity. I don't know how you're unable to understand this. You must still be in school.

>It's just the league sticking it's nose into business it has no right to.
The league has no business to be interested in the financial activity of its members? What the fuck am I reading? By that logic there should be no financial monitoring in any football league in the world and everyone can just do what they want.

>I have made many posts about the real situation ITT and my position should be obvious that this is political.

Sheikh Mansour has infinite money and could sustainably pump sponsorships into Man City indefinitely. He could bribe the entire league with superyachts to drop the case. In fact he probably has tried this already. Pretending to care about City going bust from overspending is farcical given that they brought this case and forced them to spend obscene eye-watering amounts of money defending themselves in court.

Motte and Bailey here already. Your position is "We are not attempting to destroy Man City, we are just pursuing a highly aggressive case against them which will result in them being destroyed, while claiming we are simply neutral independent parties here upholding fair rules and sustainability." It's for this reason I completely back Man City in whatever they can do to fuck the PL. I actually hope they destroy it. Is that sustainable?

I even gave you a breakdown (>>157976723) and yet you ignored the entire post to persist with your stupidity.

Money put into Manchester City by Abu Dhabi United Group (the owners) would not count towards PSR because it is not trading income, it is capital investment. In the 2015/16 Etihad example above (>>157977129) only £8m should have been included in PSR. But instead £67.5m went into the calculation, meaning there was an extra £59.5m to spend.

>I have yet to hear anyone make a better case from the PL's side than you.
I am trying to explain to you why Manchester City were found guilty by the PL, but you're not intelligent enough to understand basic functions of finance. There's no point in prolonging this discussion because of that.

>It's just that trying to destroy a football club over the issue of whether some money has been technically correctly classified or not seems to me to be completely insane. It reeks of wounded egos from the PL set.
A club persistently breaks the rules for the best part of a decade by deliberately disguising over £830m from the owners as legitimate business transactions, yet you do not consider that worth investigating because of "the red cartel". Why should it be ignored?

>I didn't ignore the post quoted, I responded to the relevant section which admits that they satisfied PSR.
You very clearly did ignore it because the summary was in the greentext; the apparent "relevant section" was my comment explaining why they originally satisfied PSR by lying. The fact you couldn't even understand that really says a lot about you.

>PL should have just let it go, but they didn't. I can see no reason they have pursued this case other than politics.
The Premier League want to be seen as having integrity. City have lost all of theirs from this. You still haven't said what you mean by "politics".

>I am not like you. I do not seek to lie to myself and others about where I stand on things.

it's more the link to the owners. If all ties are cut from the owners, that it is sold even if for a £1 and then basically rebranded as a new club then wherever they end up they could start up again. They only lease the stadium anyway so not a problem for the few citeh fans that would be left to watch them on a park somewhere in a lower league. Of course citeh fans are so delusional they think the owners will be sticking around to try to see this out. Man City are a non club without being bankrolled by arabs now. City will just loan out players to top clubs, probably Europe, for a season. They'll keep a few and 'comply' with spending rules. They'll win every single game and get records etched into books for it. Then when they're promoted back to PL they'll bring all their loaned players back and win a treble again. There is literally no way to actually punish City with any worth short of forcing them to do a Rangers. Hell, players could even theoretically defer their wages or say they'll play for minimum wage and batter championship teams even more. Remember, EFL has no say in City if PL just deducts them 100pts. Ignoring you're weird obsession with Arsenal, exactly how does a coach have any input in what the owners do? Hell it's come out that Man-sour didn't have anything to do with this. So if even he had no idea this was going on, why the fuck would a coach? Or are you implying Pep was involved? And the rest of the staff?

Also why are you ignoring Berta, United's COO who was City's finance guy during the period? If anybody had any actual involvement it was him.

Finally, Arsenal aren't claiming any trophies as 'reparation' the only one they'd be entitled to is the FA Cup and that had nothing to do with Arteta.

>The Premier League will face pressure from Manchester City’s rivals to push for a sanction that will result in a prolonged absence from the top flight after the club were found guilty of more than 100 charges of financial rule-breaking.

>Executives at a number of Premier League clubs have told the Guardian that a points deduction that would relegate City to the Championship for a single season would be insufficient given the scale of what an independent commission described as the club’s “disguised funding scheme” and “sham commercial deals”, which enabled them to artificially inflate their income by £900m between 2009 and 2018.

[North West Counties Division One North intensifies]

>>157981268
shame the guardian is too retarded to realise the prem doesn't have the power to do that
>>
>>157981290
Isn't points deductions across multiple seasons something they can do?
>>
>>157981290
The Premier League can't expel a member club?
>>
>>157981335
so long as they're in the premier league, the moment they're in the championship it's out of their hands
>>
>>157981361
Surely there can be some sort of arrangement between the efl and the PL to make the point deduction span across the PL and the championship......RIGHT?
>>
>>157981382
EFL have already leaked that they won't take City if they are automatically relegated
>>
I don't understand people saying this is only related to ADUG. The overall financial picture of the club implicates everyone, if one sponsor is disingenuous then all of them are affected. I wouldn't be surprised to See Nike and shit kick off soon, I don't think the PL have realised what they've done here.
>>
>>157981387
Does "automatic relegation" include relegation due to point deductions or rather straight relegation as a punishment? Also if that's the case surely trophy voiding is actually at the very top of the list of things to consider if relegation can't be done smoovely.

>Decide to get into club footy after the recent world cup and decided to bandwagon City because of Haaland and the netflix doc when they won the treble with Pep
>City is now getting relegated/disbanned for cheating

Ayoo wtf? I need a new Prem team now.
>>
>>157981430
It's unprecedented in the modern era of English football so the real answer is 'we don't know' but it would likely be outright direct relegations if automatic relegation is the verdict (we saw this happen to Swindon Town in 1994 who got relegated two leagues down)
Repeated point deductions to get a mathematically-likely relegation would seem clumsy

the efl and the pl don't like each other
>>
>>157981512
Not really much points to that these days. They certainly didn't at one point but they're forced to deal with one another at the end of every season.

>Repeated point deductions to get a mathematically-likely relegation would seem clumsy
Incredibly there is precedent for this in recent years, although it was in the EFL

When Macclesfield Town went bust shortly after 2019/20 was concluded, the EFL deducted the exact number of points needed to see them relegated on PPG (IIRC Stevenage were reprieved) so they would not have to deal with the impending bankruptcy and the National League could handle it instead

A very average defender from the valley of darkness between England's "golden generation" of the early-mid 00s and the revival in the late 2010s.
Man City bought him from Everton for £22m in 2009. As chance would have it, £22.5m was the sum that ADUG added to their "sponsorship income" in 2009. So the narrative is that signing Joleon Lescott put Man City on the path of expulsion.
>>
>>157981535
That's a fair point but that's where there's an issue - say the PL hands down a three-league relegation, that's dependent on the EFL even wanting to take them in. They'd have to change the shape of League (One and) Two to accommodate them or at least the number of teams going up or down to fit them in. Wouldn't be fair on the teams around that system.
>>
>>157981580
That's why I think the PL will expel them altogether. They won't even get a chance at dropping down a division, they'll be thrown out. They would have to reapply at the very bottom of the pyramid.

I know it's not relevant whatsoever to what's gone on with Man City, but it will be interesting to see what happens in the Tonda Eckert case. If the FA go hard on him I think there will be similar severity for City.
>>
>>157981580
Is there something that actually stops the premier league from expelling city from playing in the PL completely? You just kick em out and lay it bare that no lower league is willing to accept them, so if they want to play english football again they just need to go through the pyramid all over from bottom to top.

Could just deduct 60 points a season for the next 5 seasons in the EPL, whenever they may be
