sad takeaway from this is that the "emptyhad" meme will end because emirati state-owned etihad will no longer be able to sponsor emirati state-owned manchester city and their home stadium and indeed manchester city will no longer afford the rent for the council-owned not-etihad stadium when they've been gangbanged by every other clubs' legal teams for compensation

England U21 currently drawing 0-0 with Slovakia U21. Been terrible. 11 shots, 2 on target. Slovakia are doing le 11 men behind the ball meme.

England U19 2-1 USA U19

Heskey (1. FC Köln) (I always laugh because his first name is Reigan and I read it as Regen Heskey like he's some FM player) scored in the first min, then Williams-Barnett (Tottenham). Max Dowman (Arsenal) was sent off in the 77th min. Which is baffling since he is consistently one of the best players in the pitch (he singlehandedly won the game against RoI a few days ago). He needs to stop this ego shit now and learn temperment or he'll turn into Bellingham, talented but ego driven and a walking red card. In other news he is apparently off to West Ham in January.

England U17 1-0 Venezuela U17. Jai Nwosu (Brentford) scored the winner.

More likely it was because they're shit and didn't really do much. It only matters if you win. I would even go as far as to include Arsenal too because it's not like they started pulling up trees when they broke their transfer record for Nicolas Pepe and put him on £150kpw.

Nothing to do with united or any other team. Everything to do with letting a country buy a team.

Never understood this argument from rivals. Always felt like just grasping at straws trying to find something to complain about. What does it matter if a small city state owns a club, over someone like Jeff Bezos who's net worth dwarfs that of many existing real countries?
>>
>>158014616
UK economy is worth trillions, surely getting threatened over less than 1 percent is nothing to worry about
>>
>>158014588
Watch your cuck government fold and let them get away with it
>>
>>158014621
Really simple, the state can make up laws around how the finances work in their country then use it as an argument to break financial laws in other countries. This is exactly what city did in the case when they tried to argue that companies get money from the government all the time in UAE
>>158014625
Not the point. They're trying to blackmail the country to circumvent our laws and processes.
>>158014629
Probably, a lot of the gov here are bought and paid for by the towels. Burnham's statement didn't inspire confidence.
>>
>>158014635
You're just making shit up. This city state has put over THIRTY BILLION QUID of investment into the UK. I'm sorry but nobody is going to say no to that. The case is a farce and will be shown as such.
>>
>>158014643
What part am I making up?
>>
>>158014645
The bit about "they will make up laws to help them cheat". City did not do anything special that requires a state behind them that could not have been done by any other private equity group.
>>
>>158014635
I don't really care desu if they cheated or will be punished.
What irritates me is that they might get what they want by acting like spoiled children (which is basically what the owners are).
Will never take pl seriously again if that happens
>>
>>158014655
The state funds the sponsors with extra money that inflates the sponsorships, then justifies it by saying it's how the UAE works. That's literally what happened in the case.
Are you guys the from yesterday that pretends not to understand things?
>>158014665
That's a product of letting a state like that buy a team. Arabs don't take loss of face well, especially the government and royal families, so this approach is all they know. It's their "culture" to act like this.
>>
3 weeks international break is pure madness dont tell me this is the new norm
>>
>>158014669
Other clubs can get sponsorships too, anon. Once again, it has nothing to do with being a city-state.
>>
>>158014621

>A PE firm cannot make up their own financial laws
Abu Dhabi did not "make up their own laws" in this case either, and nobody involved broke either Abu Dhabi or UK criminal law either. This is the Prem alleging that they broke Premier League rules (they didn't btw).
>>
>>158014733

I think that if they don't win their appeal - and I think there's a chance they'll have it rigged in their favour - then the Premier League will give them a massive points deduction this year that effectively relegates them for a season.

If we're being honest, the rules are definitely retarded even if Man City were in the wrong for circumventing them. That's why they're still a very saleable club to 3rd World countries in the Middle East, South & East Asia and Africa. Demotion and expulsion are stronger punishments than points deductions, and the Football League and National League would not be obliged to accept them. By making it, say, an 80 point deduction then they would be as good as sent down whilst also ensuring that they would be in the Championship for 2027/28. If players are allowed to stay and on their current contracts, they'd be back up within a year, which the Premier League could then market as their comeback, their vindication or revenge season, etc

you can consistently perform better than Man U or even Tottenham for 10 years and they'll still be allowed to spend 10x as much as you

No, we have the correct system now. A spending cap will penalise those who have built their capacity to spend honestly. We're not throwing that out just because some dirty arab wanted to buy some trophies.

Why did City vote for them then?

They might. If they can take it to the high court, then they can start making arguments related to Competition Law, which is currently not applicable in the panel, probably why they got found guilty.
>>
>>158015662
But City did exist, the fact that other clubs have a long history of success is not an excuse to perpetrate fraud at such a grand scale. A determination was made to buy a grim little club and dope it up into a global power house, but now it's all crumbling around them.

They don't even own the fucking stadium.

>>158015900

And this is where Lord Pannick might make his argument. Look at the Premier League winners if City's titles are rescinded due to PSR breaches. It will be inarguable that PSR exists to stifle competition. Don't think there is a single fucking non-red cartel winner.
>>
>>158015923
>A cartel is a group of independent market participants who collaborate with each other and avoid competing with each other in order to improve their profits and dominate the market. They seek to limit competition, fix prices, and increase prices by creating artificial shortages through low production quotas, stockpiling, and marketing quotas. Cartel behaviours can be either legal or illegal, but jurisdictions frequently consider cartelisation to be anti-competitive behaviour, leading them to outlaw or curtail cartel practices. Anti-trust law targets cartel behaviour in markets.
>>

>The Treasury Committee, which is responsible for overseeing policies and administration of HMRC, has therefore asked whether the government department has requested the redacted documents contained within the commission's report.

What you have to do is spend a very limited amount while the other 5 spend what they want.
But this is good because it means you can scout good cheaper players that you can develop yourself to compete.
But you have to make sure they aren't *too* good because the other 5 will want them. They'll get them because they're allowed to pay wages that you aren't.
But that's good because you might buy someone for £40m and sell them for £60m which means you've made a £20m profit that you can use to scout a better player.
But you have to make sure if you sign them that he isn't *that* good otherwise the other 5 will be after him and they'll get him because they're allowed to pay wages you aren't.
But on the flipside it gives you an incentive to develop players from your academy. Yeah you can't exactly have a starting XI of 18-19 year olds, but you can gradually bleed them in. Then once they're 21-23 they could even become a regular starter.
But you have to make sure they aren't *that* good because the 5 will want him and they can pay wages you aren't allowed to.
But if you sell him it's pure profit! You can use that profit to scout someone else who the 5 might want to buy off you.
But you might get uppity and refuse to sell any of these players. This is where it gets dangerous because the 5 will tap up the player(s) either directly or through the media. Doesn't matter which because they won't be punished for it.
But if you really want to make money you simply need a bigger stadium. If Villa Park (43k being increased to 50k) or SJP (52k) had a stadium like Stamford Bridge (40k) they could spend whatever they like too...or something.
But alternatively you could just get a sponsor deal and because it's a free market where the sponsor can pay whatever they like the PL will make sure it's a market value that they arbitrarily decide, unless you're one of the 5.

Do that and you might start regularly finishing top half in 30 years or so.

They haven't shown it to you, but they did present vast amounts of evidence to the independent commission that found them guilty. There's also the small matter of said sponsors contradicting this position in the UEFA case and a US case into state sponsored airlines. City are going to get thrown to the wolves when it comes down it. Mansour is not gonna have Etihad Airlines purjure itself in a US court for some tin pot English football club.
