Continental Tiers with direct pro/rel when?

Way better than superleague and or the meme that current continental cups are

>inb4 why is club a in but club b not
I used the top 4 from previous season, or in SA case I used the top teams that qualified for copalib
>inb4 where is man city
Hell
>>
>>158193759
>only top 5 leagues

non-white spotted
>>
don't ever put mirassol next to such plastic teams with no history such as psg ever again, thanks
>>
>Continental Tiers with direct pro/rel when?
I'm not even sure how that would work. This is why The Super League idea was fucking moronic.
>>
>>158193759
>Way better than [...] the meme that current continental cups are
Not really, no. That's a terrible idea.
>>
>>158193795
Well, they originally wanted to make it a franchise league, didn't they? No pro/rel to bother with, just more money for the involved clubs
Then people got pissed off and the project resurfaced as a continental tier with pro/rel. Very believable and organic
>>
>>158193780
Yeah, why the fuck would they put fucking Thun in this league?

I'm all in for regional continental leagues, make a norse one, a balkan one, and whatever. But it needs some semblant of balance

>>158193793
O-Ok

>>158193795
>I'm not even sure how that would work
Minimum requirements and table zones.
>Best team from country and top 8? Safe
>Top 9~16? Playoff relegation
>Top 16~24? Direct relegation
That could vary a bit depending on how many spots each country has.

Also, the same point can be made about current continental competitions also.

>>158193816
Elaborate.
>>
>>158193759
Okay, so how does this work? At some arbitrary point, the top 4 from, say, Italy, qualify. But then it's a real league and only the last three of the entire bunch get relegated? And replaced with whom? And I assume it replaces the CL/EL instead of the national leagues?
>>
>>158193889
>if the best team from x country finished in the top 8 = safe
>if a team from x country finished in the bottom 8 = direct relegation
>everyone else = single playoff game at the home of the team trying to go up
Something like that
> And I assume it replaces the CL/EL instead of the national leagues?
Yeah, no cups anymore, it would literally be a tier above domestic ones. So no more Bayern winning 10 titles in a row in Bundas or PSG raping frogs with their reserves
>>
>>158193852
>Then people got pissed off and the project resurfaced as a continental tier with pro/rel. Very believable and organic
Yeah, that was the one I was referring to, the A22 proposal which was absolutely moronic.
>>
>>158193759
I feel like that would only create more imbalance.

The big 12 here are already far above everyone else besides 3 or 4 teams that can kind of compete like Bahia, Bragantino and Paranaense. Only 6 going up would create an even bigger gap. Every domestic league would become a 2nd tier, a lot of people would stop watching them
>>
>>158193920
Wait, so it does replace the national leagues after all? Just to be clear: what competitions do these clubs all participate in?
>>
>>158193948
Yeah, that's why I said continental tier instead of league, it would be a tier above the domestic ones.

So they would face eachother twice like a normal league and all that. With that 24 team example in mind teams would play 46 matches in this league and that's it. Ofc the domestic cups could stay, but they would still play around the same amount of matches they do currently, if not less.

>>158193940
That's a fair point, but you could still keep a national cup where these teams play each other.
>>
>>158193974
Ah, so it replaced both. Huh, interesting
Well, at least it would work schedule-wise, I was about to bicker that you cannot add 46 continental league games to 34/38 national league games and ~6 cup games
Still, it's a no from me. I want domestic leagues to stay intact since they are tradition, we should aim to find other solutions for domestic dominance situations. And the last thing we need is big clubs getting more money to exploit smaller clubs that actually do better jobs. In our case for example, Bayern shouldn't get anything by principle, Dortmund as well deserve nothing due to their actual incompetence and delusions of grandeur, and RB Leipzig is fucking RB Leipzig
>>
>>158193870
>Elaborate
Continental competitions already exist. Making them a "higher tier" to national competitions is moronic because
>it hurts domestic football even further in favour of plastic, consumer soulless fixtures
>it reduces the number of competitions from 3 (league, domestic cup, continental cup) to just 2
>longer travels
Nobody wants this. I don't want to watch my club play Coquimbo Unido and Santa Fé, and I'm sure Europeans are absolutely fatigued of soulless global corporate clubs with overpriced tickets for customers and tourists sucking the life out of football.
>>158193940
>The big 12 here are already far above everyone else
Most of the big 12 are in a very sorry state and are big in name only. Coritiba and Mirassol are better managed and more competitive than about half of the big clubs.
>>
>>158194054
Understandable
> we should aim to find other solutions for domestic dominance situations
It will never happen, but if all countries had proper leagues with revenue sharing in mind, and the continental league also worked like that with equal or some meritocratic revenue sharing, continental leagues could award the domestic league instead of the team.

So, at the end of the continental tournament, everyone would get a slice of the pie, and if idk, PSG won the UCL, the whole Ligue 1 would get a piece of the award instead of only PSG.

A bit communist and it will never happen, but I think it would help bring balance back a bit
>>
>>158194088
>Most of the big 12 are in a very sorry state and are big in name only. Coritiba and Mirassol are better managed and more competitive than about half of the big clubs.
But that's the point. Coritiba and Mirassol are keeping up because most of them are in sorry states as you said, but the moment they fix their shit Coritiba and Mirassol would become meaningless again. They're too big to flop.

>>158193974
Oh, now I'm kinda curious about it, more specifically here since copalib has been so boring recently

And then we make a world tier afterwards right, OP? MY MAN!
>>
>>158193759
That's not doable here, travel distances are too long, could work in Europe tho
