>but it's more popular than ever.
Don't fall for their lies, f1 is billions in debt and losing hundreds of millions every year, they've lost over a hundred million viewers in nearly 2 decades, They may have got a short term rise in viewers after that netflix faggotry but that only lasted so long.

The sport is finished and it will only last as long as the fake money thats propping it up lasts which is coming to an end now.

Back from Zolder, Belgium.
It was fun again, but there were less stands with merchandise and it was cold and windy.
The races were fun, the Porsches sounded cool and the second Euro Nascar race was redflagged because of rain.
Got an autograph of Beitske Visser too.
For whover is interested I uploaded some stuff:

Next year again.

>>
>>158255866
Last year was the same time yes but the weather was better then.

Only a couple of stands with Euro Nascar gear, 2 with toy cars, 1 with shirts and that's it I think? Certainly not more than 5/6.

And they gave away lots of used tires. Countless people rolling those Hoosier tires around all day lol.
>>
>>158255742

Only vips were allowed into the garages and team hospitaly tents itself and there were not many people from teams outside of that near the trucks. Best chance was the gridwalk.

Maybe you have some experiences with Adac races or something?
>>
>>158256268
Not really, but I go to the 24h Spa each year. Paddock is open for everyone on Thursday and Friday, so you get to see lots of stuff there. Sure there are vip places, but still a good to see some stuff. I really should go to more races. So easy to watch a lot of stuff here.

That is really some of the best parts of going to a race. Seeing the people camping on the infeld at night and all the pit crews working or playing games and watching videos on their phones. It's so neat to see all the little things that go on and you never see on TV. Plus it's obviously super cool to see the cars up close.

Someone, title sponsors, government, whoever must be footing the bill, and the idea is clearly to market their 5x champ and Indy 500 winner. We'll see how it goes, but to me it seems that there are parties (besides indycar obviously) interested in trying to force his popularity to grow for whatever reason

I had a fine young lady from Ford marketing who asked me my opinion about Ford and I told her I liked the Mustang and F-150. Insaod thar people were mad they didn't run in GTP or Indy and that they should make a 4 door based off an extended S650 platform and brand it as a Lincoln to compete with Cadillac or a Taurus or preferably both.
I doubt that I will affect anything, but she asked and I let her know what real niggas thought. Speaking of, I also pointed out that the cessation of the Charger left a market gap.

Key engineering talents Simmons and Bunnell to depart Ganassi
>In a call with RACER last week, the defending 18-time IndyCar Series champions confirmed the upcoming departure of Chris Simmons, whose tenure with CGR dates back to the 2000s and includes three championships and two Indianapolis 500 victories as race engineer to Dario Franchitti and two titles with Scott Dixon. Simmons also engineered Arrow McLaren team principal Tony Kanaan during Kanaan’s time with the team.
>Since 2020, Simmons has held the role of performance director, and in that position, the former open-wheel driver sparked CGR’s transformation into the dominant team of the decade where Dixon (2020) and Alex Palou (2021, 2023-2026) combined to win six out of seven championships.
>CGR also confirmed the exit of Ross Bunnell, who engineered Dixon from 2023-2024 before being assigned to Meyer Shank Racing by Ganassi in 2025 where he engineered Felix Rosenqvist and won this year’s Indy 500. Dixon was vocal about his displeasure with Ganassi’s decision to shift Bunnell from his No. 9 Honda to MSR’s No. 60 Honda, and moments after the checkered flag waved at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in September, Bunnell informed CGR of his intention to leave.

Its a controlled spec car series, what exactly are they "engineering"??
>>
>>158280276
The parts are controlled but there are a lot of settings on the car to adjust. Currently dampers are the big meta because they are one of the few open areas but that will be changing with the new car in 28

Setting the car up just makes you a basic mechanic, Engineering is when you designed and built the car from scratch, In Indycar they are given a car by dallara and an engine by honda/chevy and told heres your car, go assemble it.

When it comes to the teams themselves there are no engineers, just mechanics and strategists.
>>
>>158280425
You can be pedantic if you want the engineers create the plan of attack for the car and the mechanics do the manual work

Still hard and probably too early to say. TWG was definitely doing some shady shit, and apparently it was worse than originally thought. Before, it came out that he was using his insurance companies to lend himself money to buy sports teams. But, he used some tricks to pretend that those loans weren't to himself. Now, apparently he was using tricks to also hide the riskiness of those loans (by faking them as short term loans rather than long term). The racing teams are such small dollar amounts compared to the other sports, but it depends how bad it gets. And so far all of this is about Walter and his teams. We don't know if Towriss was using the insurance companies as a mega credit card the same way, or if he bought the teams with his own money and got TWG to kick in some sponsorship (which could also dry up if TWG gets in a lot more trouble).

Engineering is a pretty broad discipline. A hydro eletric engineer doesn't necessarily build dams or power plants. They mostly watch weather forecast and figure out when to shed water for predicted/active rain and temperature spikes/dips to predicted eletic power demand and adjust the flow over multiple hydro plants in a region.
Even in a spec series, there are 6 billion settings to keep track of and you have to translate
>The car is undsteering in turn 4
into
>Let's use a 0.5 lb/inch stiffer sprin with settings 24 on the damper and position 3 on the weight jacker for that corner
without completely ruining the car on the other 8 turns on the course.

>Expanding opportunities in grassroots rallying!

>The FIA WMSC has approved the introduction of new homologation and technical regulations for Rally6 cars, creating a more affordable and accessible entry point into competitive rallying

jesus you really dont follow the rulechanges or the news cycle... for like the last 1,5 years?
This was already told it will happen earlier this year and the absolutely fair reasoning why its happening
The new Rally1 rules allow things like the Project Rally One where a constructor can buy the rally2 homologated running gear from an already homologated manufacturer (in this case skoda) and build the car around it(similarly like in f1 there is a mercedes team but also a mclaren mercedes)
This is why it was renamed from manufacturer to constructor championship

The Dodge Viper is really an exceptionally good looking car, especially for an American car.

Hey, rally casual here. I know they have a kind of unspoken agreement to not show the engine bay in these cars but I'm assuming it a a transverse (the crank is left to right) mounting with a differential powering a drive shaft to the back wheels, like pic related.

Seems like the Dakar as we know it won't happen in Saoudi Arabia. And FIA is thinking about doing it' partly in Spain, and a finish in Morocco.

Hell yeah! A return to form. It's insane to think that Arabia is actually more dangerous than the Maghreb. It's so cool to have it begin in Europe again.
>January 8 to 22, with a day of rest on January 16.
Fantastic, it's still a light in the darkness of the bad times. I honestly really enjoyed the Arabian races since they have so many different types of desert terrain and I wouldn't even mind a return there (or SouthAmerica), but I was quite worried. This news has really cheered me up. Thank you for posting this!
Man, I love desert racing.

That didn't work great for either Rockingham or Lausitzring (or any other oval outside the US really).
I guess Lausitzring could still be feasible, but it probably carries a stigma like Pocono.
Going to working European venues who just got ditched by F1 like Barcelona (Imola, Spa, Zandvoort etc.) is probably the most feasible approach.
I find it kinda weird they'd cross the ocean for just one single race.

Indycar needs to buy into a dirt series and push that to fill their April. Two weeks off at the most for most of the schedule… it could be three weeks at a time so this is progress? whatever fuck it the dw12 deserved a better send off
>>
>>158307045
The problem with filling in after f1 is everyone will see how slow it is in comparison. An oval would at least be uniquely indycar
>>
>>158307045
I'm sure other European venues will be watching this event closely to see what the turnout looks like. Similar to how there was just one NFL London game and now they are games in Germany, France, Spain, etc. Once there were was proof of concept

If we take Doug's words for granted about 2028 increasing the oval races, I'd think that Barber gets dropped after next year (now that George is dead) and you make a triple header in April: 2 ovals + Long beach.
And if you want to be even more delusional, you'd add a third oval somewhere in the 2nd half of the season, getting to 19 races. This will never happen though.

Not all Mexicans are of Spanish descent. a lot of Germans and Irish went there as well, Mariachi music descends from Bavarian oompa bands for example. the reason Mexico is a beer country rather than a wine country like Spain is because of all the Germans opening breweries down there.

except the part in question was supplied to them specifically for passenger and media laps and was never supposed to be used for racing, it was redbull's incompetent part tracking that let it get mixed in with the race parts

Miami is begging to be an early season oval race or Texas. I guess that would put Miami too close to St. Petersburg. Plus, the gays and browns that actually live there don't care about racing so that would nuke attendance. Thankfully, they kept Phoenix. I mean, it wasn't the best this year, but it was better than [insert street course] so I'm thankful to still have it. It sucks balls losing Nashville, though. It is an interesting track that races pretty well when the tires don't melt in 3 laps.
Ateast half of the IndyCar schedule should be ovals.
>>
no, why the fuck would you drop Barber? you don't need to remove a well attended road course race to add more ovals.

There was some trademark conflict with the name Burger King or something, like some dude already had a restaurant named Burger King when the "real" Burger King decided to move into Australia.
I think Pillsbury was the owner of "real" Burger King, so they let the Australian franchisee choose one of their other brand names to use, and he liked Hungry Jack. I might be remembering wrong, though.
