Promotion/relegation at the individual level is retarded but at the conference level, it would improve the quality of the game. At the end of each season, drop the two lowest FBS conferences to FCS for the next season and promote the top two FCS conferences to FBS.

Conferences are going to die soon in the 24 team playoff era, to be replaced with schools making deals themselves and long term agreements to play other schools
Why would Ohio State share all that revenue equally with Rutgers and Purdue when they can make more on their own and schedule top level opponents if they have a 4-5 game clearance to make playoffs?
Enough just have to agree to go independent and play each other each year and the final result will happen. All teams for themselves, no propping up that you joined SEC in 1930 so you get as much as Georgia in revenue

The previous AD, Jeff Bourne, dedicated 25 years of his life to elevate JMU athletics from C tier D1 FCS school into a winning FBS program with solid non-rev sports to boot. Secured funding from alumni (lots of defense contractors + Carmax) and local industry (chicken farms) for a solid revenue stream. Poured money into facilities while also being a genuis at scouting coaching talent. 2 FCS natties under his tenure that eventually led to Cig being hired (because he upset us while at Elon) and finally executing the move to FBS. Chesney was his 2nd to last hire, with his own successor at AD being hand picked.

Billy was outside our normal hiring criteria, but chosen for his prior success at ULL. Was skeptical, but holy shit it worked.

Remember when UCF was tearing up the American and then got "promoted" to a power 4 conference? Yeah, how's that worked out for them. TCU jumped up 14 years ago and have only had 4 years where they weren't mid tier or worse. So first of all, you can play yourself into getting into a power 4 conference already and secondly, we have multiple examples of it not increasing the quality of play.

The point is constantly playing musical chairs to constantly swap some "coveted" spot in a power conference isn't going magically make competition in those conferences better. We've seen this with Cincinnati, Utah, UCF, Houston, TCU, etc. Schools from the lower conferences just don't have the facilities and means to compete consistently with the big dicks schools running the sport. Replacing Rutgers with JMU isn't going to do fucking anything other than probably making JMU worse.

This is going to be a thing for super conferences. UCLA somehow dodged Ohio State, Indiana, Iowa, and Northwestern this season. They obviously have USC (also overranked). New rules: they scored 6, twice. That's 12 points. Need 8 to tie. Point being it was an obviously rigged outcome (without going into the other non calls like UM holding on the fumble recovery), so why are voters not taking this in to account? FSU was a better team all night, game went to OT bc of egregious refballing (don't sue the ACC, this is what you get). I guess pollsters really do not watch the game, because call it whatever you want but that game was rigged and UM is clearly not the best team in the nation, regardless of record. They will get KWABd so badly when they play a real team and don't have ACC refs. It is what it is, just shitty to watch this sport sometimes.

Listen, if we could go back to 5 top conferences of retaliative equal size and no national championship I absolutely would. But the sport is changing and conferences and "p2 conferences" and bowls and so on are antique and obsolete. Look right now the top 2 are not even from the P2, why should they exist if Miami and BYU are left out because they were not chosen to be in 20 years ago before they became the P2?
You changed the sport so much with this 24 team playoffs and megaconferences with no regional variability that you made it so pro/reg is not a far off proposal. You are not blowing up "muh traditional and history" because there is none left when USC is playing Rutgers in the Big 10 and the Rose Bowl is going to be Miami vs Georgia
>>

That’s based though. White people will just pay taxes for nothing and be monitored by flock cameras and still have pro social attitudes. Blacks are unironically correct about how the state should be handled. Don’t respect their “authority”

It's been proven already that it doesn't work like that. You're living in a fucking fantasy land of hypotheticals and hopes and dreams. These teams who make the jump have proven that they don't make the conference better. TCU is the most successful team to make the jump to a power conference in the last 20 years and they've been under .500 in conference play the majority of the time. What are YOU basing your assumption upon that promotions/relegations would increase parity and quality of play. How about you provide your fucking facts to the argument instead of just saying "not uh" when presented with the numerous teams who haven't done what you keep saying will totally happen.

People spent all week weeping about the playoff expansion and pining for the BCS days. Meanwhile under a BCS system right now we’d be hurtling towards a natty matchup of Miami vs the Big 12 champ. A narrower playoff field doesn’t make sense in a sport where the portal and NIL has diffused the talent to much wider range of schools.

It was already a lost season for FSU, the entire fanbase still wants their coach fired and no one is happy with the state of football in Tallahassee, but it's not coping to call a spade a spade. It's just crazy and sad what's become of CFB. Saw the same thing with Auburn vs UGA yesterday, but the zebras couldn't finish off the best team in football. Double OT in a game when the team is a 21 pt dog, no one expected a close game, to even be close let alone stolen is just depressing for ball. My life goes on either way though and there is no doubt it will all come tumbling down tumbling down for UM at some point this season

AAC cincinnati would be winless with their 2026 schedule, i still don't know what point you think you're making
>>
>>158253238
Probably will happen. Streaming makes it easier to have a direct connection between the school and its fans while other media technology makes it easier for individual programs to produce the game coverage themselves. Even if they were to contract that out, having a production crew you hired for that task is different than selling the rights to a company that then produces the content.
The question is who will do it first? Texas was a couple of decades ahead of things with the Longhorn Network, so it was mostly a flop. Each year more people cut the cord and become more comfortable with using streaming. At some point that becomes the majority of the viewers.
I'm guess is there's going to be that one last round of realignment and new contracts in 2030 but after that individual programs will break away to control their own production.
>>

The patriots dynasty was not because they are so much more stacked than other teams. It was because they played in a conference with the dolphins, bills, and jets. It CFB remains this unfair we will see schedule merchants like Miami and Notre Dame have dyansties as well. well it would have to be two of the more influential schools, and they don't actually have incentive to do that. and I wouldn't be so confident that it would immediate change the ecosystem, it's more likely to limp along at 95% of what it would have been with them in place. So you want two schools to shoot themselves in the foot to appease you for an outcome that you may have overestimated. I'd say that you are indeed day dreaming again.

I mean he is a retarded nog, but that does not seem like a big deal.
>>
>>158255723
>what's that? sacrifice requires SACRIFICE? well no wonder everyone in the west obeys israel at every turn!
>>
>>158255702
obviously not. They did not win the championship more often than they won it (so there's no ambiguity). Contrast that with yuropoor soccer leagues.
>>
>>158254948
nobody cares about jmu and they never will.
>>
>>158255754
>someone else needs to sacrifice so i can be happier with my sports
the intersection of /cfb/ and /pol/ produces some of the dumbest people
>>
>>158255706
So you're saying the NFL had parity when the Browns played in 10 straight championship games? Goddamn, you people are unbelievably stupid.

>>158255760
Not what you said. You said they lost more than they won. You didn't say anything about championships. Moving the goalposts. I accept your concession.
>>
>>158255744
Yes I agree.
>>
>>158255760
good point bro. every nfl team regularly wins 6 out of 18 super bowls. lmao
>>
>>158255790
yes "lost more than they won" was ambiguous so I'm really deeply sorry. But when it gets clarified, you need to move along or risk looking nitpicky and desperate.
>>
>>158255785
>someone else needs to
yes. defying the billionaire class involves more than one interested party. again you were born to be a slave
>>
>>158255818
You moved the goalposts. You lost. I accepted your concession. Thanks for trying.
>>
>arguments get blown to shit so thoroughly you start crying about goys and israel in a college football thread
>>
>>158255808
how drunk do you have to be to think that was the point. Nobody is arguing that there's perfect parity in the NFL. there is quantifiably more parity in the NFL than in many other sports, including college football
>>
>>158255835
that's what i meant with the nitpicky desperation.

>>158255833
no, you're just demanding that people bend to your whims while you aren't even to vote with your meager wallet. lmao @ u
>>
>>158255901
Not what you meant since it wasn't what you initially said. You moved the goalpost, you lost. Take the L instead of tripling down like a retard.
>>
>>158255623

probably will, yeah

it is what i meant. I didn't specify games, yet you're willing to headcanon that word in to suit you. obvoulsy nobody thinks the pats were sub .500 during the brady era, so I'm not sure what you're really attempting there.
>>
Amazing that there's parity in Women's Olympic Archery. I always thought there wasn't, but apparently winning 10/11 Gold medals means there's parity. The 2 games the won all three medals, that's peak fucking parity.

btw everybody bitching about byu not being #1 they got 20 votes. miami only got 40. it's very split and 4 separate teams got votes so that would indicate miami has very little support relatively as a #1 team (rightfully after last night).

Ohio State has won at least 10 regular season games every year after 2012 minus the shorten COVID season. Going back 20 years, they've won at least 10 regular season games every year except the aforementioned. You're clearly a fucking retard.

You really are a dumb asshole. No one with a brain would assume that the goalpost he set was what you claim. Clarifying your position once you see the other person has misunderstood you isn't moving the goalposts you fucking tard.

That being said, he did fail to address your point about a lack of parity inside the divisions, but across the league as a whole, as measured by championship wins, the NFL has much better parity than the EPL with 13 champions over the past 26 years as compared to the EPLs 6. However, over that same stretch CFB has had 14 different champions, so the NFL and CFB are actually roughly the same as far as parity across the organization.
