The Autumn Wind is a pirate.
Blustering in from sea,
With a rollicking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.
He growls as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.
The Autumn Wind is a Raider,
Pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down,
And laugh when he's conquered and won

Tate is passing the eye test thus far for sure, he’s attacking balls thrown his way and snatching them out of the air instead of waiting like a lot of rookies do.

Two 1sts is just too much to pass up even if the bears’ firsts are unlikely to be very high
>>

>>
>>158407708
Because he didn't run the offense in SF. He just helped. He's more of a run game specialist. For fucks sake he made Raheem Mostert a pro bowl RB and lead the league in rushing TDs. Then he just had Tua, Tyreek, and Waddle to blow it open.

Put into consideration that the two 1sts the Bears are giving up will most likely be very late 1sts because the Bears will most likely continue being very good this year and next.
>>
>>158408077
I do consider that, but a first is a first. If it were a first and a second and fourth I'd feel great, taking a guy like Simmons with a first is a great pick. Two firsts? Ehhhh
>>
>>158408077
Consider that the bears by the same token will have no picks until the very late 2nd. Enjoy the 60th best player.
>>
>>158408028
Cute. Kiwi is gonna be a good dad.
>>
>>158407730
No one is saying the Dolphins were contenders. His best year was a round 1 exit. But the offense was explosive for a little while. I wouldn't say overall "he worked" in Miami, but he got Tua to the playoffs. The fact that the Chargers can't even get 1 single win with him tells me it's not his fault, it's probably not even partially his fault. Herbert is just a horrible player.
>>
If the Bears defense keeps getting better this is looking a bit more likely
>>
>>158408077
I disagree. People act like late firsts aren’t important because yeah you’re unlikely to get a franchise QB there, but JT’s great for getting DB talent. Positions like Safety and IOL can fall really far off of position alone even if the talent is great.
>>
>>158407761

I didn't start watching football until I was 26 and fell in love with the Bears when I watched the timeout disaster in Thanksgiving 2024, they became my new favorite team in that moment and watching them go from the funniest team in the NFL to a team that's got a great chance to win it all has been so cool
>>

This is honestly deja vu of the 2018 Bears kicking woes, going for it, and expectations and all

my mind is blank on simmons, can i get a qrd

>>158408099
NTA but Tate routinely gets like 60% of ward’s passing yards. He’s going to have his career wasted by dogshit qbs. Cam ward is like the 50th best qb at most

Personally I'd keep him on the roster and bring in a veteran to compete for a starting spot. Like a Jones or Devito
>>
>>158408112
Good player, but inflated stats because the Titans have played perennially shit teams due to having a mostly 3rd/4th place schedule since he was drafted. Two firsts and a 4th/5th swap for a Tackle is insane.
>>
>>158408132
Ehhh that's only three games of the year. The real reason he's played mostly shit teams is he's in the fucking AFC South kek

Chiefs-Niners is your Super Bowl this year. The Bears, Vikings, Panthers, Jaguars, being massively popular to bet on by normalfags (such as this entire general except me) makes it clear as day we are getting a tired rerun and you won’t do shit about it. Reffies will make sure of it.

On her podcast, Calm Down with Erin and Charissa, Erin broke down what went wrong during her halftime hit on Sunday, Oct. 25, telling co-host Charissa: “I puked and crapped down my leg for my halftime hit, which I’m frustrated about,” Andrews said on the show.

With just 45 seconds until she went on air, Andrews realized she didn’t have any updates about the questionable players. “So, I run to PR,” Andrews said.

Once she went on air, “I’m fully f---ing out of breath, which is inappropriate,” Andrews said. “Like, get it together, sister. In through the nose, out through the mouth. It was all because the ramp was so long.”

Andrews told Thompson, 44, the flustering moment “gives me chest pains” to think about. “And I’m like, ‘Oh my god, how many people are watching and I just s--- down my leg. I’m so much better than that.”

Andrews recalled Fox analyst Tom Brady saying, “Awww,” after she told Kevin Burkhardt she’d “get it together” after halftime. “He did that on-air because he knew I was struggling,” she said.

the weekly grind appears to be taking a toll on Erin
>“I’m not in bed until 1:25. I’m nervous about what the flying’s doing to my body. I’m not kidding you. I’m really getting a little concerned here,” Andrews said on Calm Down With Erin and Charissa.
>Winding down after a game day has become a struggle too.
>“I’m struggling. I’ll be okay. I’m struggling. I’m not sick, though. That’s good. But I’m struggling.”
>>
>>158408182
>spend so much on a TACKLE
>haven't even paid Caleb yet
This screams "win now, fuck the future". Which is odd. I know they wanted Buckner, which would have been a significantly better trade considering they wouldn't have to spend as much. This also sounds like a "fuck we couldn't get this guy so we need to do SOMETHING" trade.
>>
>>158408194
Andrews gave a taste of what the travel looks like in practice with a story from after the Rams and Eagles game in Week 4. She and her group were rushing through the airport when security stopped to go through her bags.
>“But then I’m the last one because I’m like, ‘Everybody go. My bags are getting searched, and we’re not just looking for… there’s something in their metal.’ They’re holding up my Invisalign, scanning it. I’m like, ‘You guys, it’s Invisalign,’” Andrews said on the podcast this month.

There is little time to rest before the next one. Week 8 arrives on Sunday, Nov. 1. Andrews is on the FOX broadcast most Sundays alongside Tom Brady, Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Rinaldi

I still think it's a shortsighted trade, but the Bears are in "win now" mode because at the end of this year they're gonna pay Caleb an upwards of $65m/year and have no firsts for the next two years.

Jesus Christ, stop it. I get that there's a gorge between the #2 pick and the #26 pick, but to act like they're irrelevant is just braindead shit.

No, you're effectively losing two firsts. Because you trade away two firsts. For a $33m/year tackle. When you still have to pay your QB at the end of the year. It's not a franchise-breaking trade, but for a young, up and coming team to hamstring your future to push the needle slightly to win now is insane. All that said if they win this year it doesn't matter. But if they don't then it's only going to get harder and harder.

You guys know that once Caleb gets his extension, it won't kick in until a year later, right? The money aspect isn't as drastic as you're making it out to be. His rookie deal doesn't expire until the 2028 offseason, so that will be just 2 seasons of him and Simmons together getting paid a ton because they can get let go of Simmons after the 2029 season if they want with 0 dead money. Yahoo and USA today have the same number. Where are you getting yours?

>Will Tennessee actually move him? Probably not. Simmons signed a three-year extension in June that made him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history, and general manager Mike Borgonzi called him "a pillar for our franchise" in the team's announcement. The money wouldn't stop a buyer, though. Simmons is guaranteed $26.95 million in base salary in 2027 and is due a $5.5 million option bonus in September, figures Popper believes any contender should be comfortable carrying.

Purdy got paid at the end of his third year. That's standard for practically every QB nowadays. If you're good, you get extended after your third year, that way they got you for three years for "free", and pay you before you're a free agent and can really hold the team's feet to the fire.
Purdy got paid after a relatively bad year in 2024.

You have the option, yes, but if you truly have a great, franchise QB as the Bears assume they do, you don't delay his payment. That's how you piss off your QB you claim to want to start for your team from the next 10+ years. Plus if you flex the 5th year option on him, you risk him just holding out and throwing a wrench into your team's off-season preparation. You only flex that on guys you're not sure about. CJ Stroud may get a 5th year option depending because of how shaky he's been. But they're seemingly dead set that Williams is their future. You don't start off what should be the next decade of stability at QB with "let's not pay you".
